Abstract
1,209,680. Enzyme-containing detergents. COLGATE-PALMOLIVE CO. 23 Dec., 1968 [28 Dec., 1967], No. 60928/68. Heading C5D. A detergent composition comprises (A) an organic surfactant, (B) a proteolytic enzyme and (C) one or more antimicrobial agents selected from pyridine-thione salts, inorganic mercuric compounds containing halogen, inorganic mercuric compounds containing a cyanide group, organic mercury compounds, bis-phenols and salts thereof, halogenated phenols and their salts, halogenated salicylanilides, halogenated phenyl ureas, quaternary ammonium salts, 8-hydroxy-quinoline and salts thereof, boric acid and boric anhydride. Component (A) may be anionic, cationic and non-ionic synthetic detergents and soaps. Preferred enzymes are subtilisins. Optional ingredients are "builders" such as phosphates, polyphosphates, silicates, carbonates, bicarbonates, borates, sulphates and chlorides; sequestering agents, e.g. sodium nitrilotriacetate; sodium carboxymethylcellulose and polyvinylpyrrolidone.
