Abstract

1422459 Film-forming wound dressing NOVITAS NUPROT SA 21 Dec 1973 [27 Dec 1972] 59291/73 Headings A5B and A5R [Also in Division C4] A non-stinging wound dressing comprises (a) a film-forming plastic material dissolved in (b) a volatile solvent comprising a solvent which would sting the wound and sufficient 1, 1, 2, 2-tetrachloro-1, 2-difluoroethane to render the dressing non-stinging. The composition may include other medicinal ingredients and an aerosol propellant. Plastic materials specified include: copoly (2-ethoxy ethyl methacrylate - methylmethacrylate), copoly (n-butyl acrylate - isobutyl acrylate), copoly (n-butyl acrylate-methyl acrylate). Stinging solvents specified include: ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, amyl acetate, methanol, methyl ethyl ketone, chloroform and trichloroethylene. Other ingredients specified include: medicaments 2, 4, 4'-trichloro-2'-hydroxy diphenyl ether, benzocaine, xylocaine, bacitracin, cortisone, chloramphenicol, sulphonilamide, griseofulvin, zinc undecylenate; aerosol propellants 1, 1, 2-trichloro-1, 2, 2-trifluoroethane, trifluorochloromethane, difluorochloromethane.
