Abstract
Etherified methylolaminotriazines having a degree of methylolation of at least 50 %, a degree of etherification of the methylol groups of at least 70 %, in which the ether-forming groups are alkyl groups having 1-2 C atoms and alkoxyethyl groups having 1-4 C atoms in the alkoxy moiety, are prepared by partial transetherification of appropriate, alkyl-etherified methylolaminotriazines or by etherification of appropriate methylolaminotriazines with at least one appropriate alcohol in the presence of acid. The final products obtained have a particularly low intrinsic viscosity and are particularly suitable as a basis for coating systems.
