Abstract

Oligonucleotidi antisenso - fosfodiesteri eventualmente stabilizzati con residui fosforotioati o analoghi, oppure modificati nell'intero scheletro zucchero - fosfato - di sequenza complementare all'RNA messaggero del recettore umano dell'urochinasi sono in grado di abolire l'invasività di cellule neoplastiche inibendo la superespressione del recettore stesso, diretto responsabile del fenotipo invasivo. Tali oligomeri possono pertanto essere impiegati come medicamenti per il trattamento di neoplasie primarie e secondarie, nonché in altre forme patologiche nelle quali la superespressione del recettore dell'urochinasi è evento patogenico.
