【従来の技術】
複金属シアン化物触媒は、活性水素原子含有出発化合物への酸化アルキレンの重付加反応用の触媒として知られており、例えば、米国特許第3,404,109号, 第3,829,505号, 第3,941,849号および第5,158,922号に開示されている。この複金属シアン化物触媒をポリエーテルポリオールの製造のために用いると、特に、水酸化アルカリ金属塩触媒のような通常のアルカリ金属触媒の存在下にポリエーテルポリオールを製造する従来法に比し、末端に二重結合を有する単官能性ポリエーテル(いわゆるモノオール)の割合が減少する。このようにして得られたポリエーテルポリオールは、高品質のポリウレタン(例えば、エラストマー、発泡体、塗料)の製造に使用することができる。
この方法で製造したポリエーテルポリオールの特性については、その水酸基価、二重結合含量および粘度を測定した。
反応の経過については、時間/転化率曲線(酸化プロピレンの消費量(g)-反応時間(分))によって追跡した。誘導時間は、時間/転化率曲線上の最も勾配が大きい地点での接線と曲線から外挿したベースラインとの交点から決定した。触媒活性の臨界を示すプロポキシル化時間は、触媒活性の開始時点(即ち誘導期の終了時点)から酸化プロピレン添加の終了時点までの期間に相当する。総反応時間は、誘導時間とプロポキシル化時間の合計に等しい。
