Abstract
【解決手段】レーザビーム14の使用により、エアバッグ展開と同時に内装部品のエアバッグ展開用開口部を極めて正確な溝の刻みにより形成することが可能となる。レーザビームはカバー16の内側表面に衝突し、溝の刻み20或いは離間された孔を形成して、予脆弱化するパターンを形成する。ロボットアームが、予脆弱化するパターンを形成するようレーザ発生器12を移動すべく用いられてもよい。レーザビームは、測定された状態に従って制御されて正確な予脆弱化を達成すると共に、基盤パネルをトリムし他の切断制御を実行するためにも用いられる。

Claims (7)
- エアバッグ装置を覆う自動車用内装部品を予め脆弱化するための方法であって、上記内装部品がインストルメントパネルであり、上記インストルメントパネルが、熱可塑性のプラスチックの基盤パネルと、その基盤パネルを覆うフォーム層と、そのフォーム層を覆い延びる柔軟なプラスチックのカバーとを有し、上記予脆弱化部が、展開ドアパターンに沿って延び、その展開ドアパターンが、上記エアバッグ装置を覆う所定位置にて上記インストルメントパネルにエアバッグ展開開口を形成することを可能にするものであり、上記エアバッグ展開開口の形成が、上記所定位置にて上記インストルメントパネルの基盤パネルの内側表面の裏に取り付けられたエアバッグの展開により生じる圧力によりなされ、上記インストルメントパネルのカバーが、上記エアバッグ位置をスムーズ、かつ途切れなく横切って上記予脆弱化の位置にいかなるしるしも予め与えることがないように延びる外側表面の領域を有し、上記予脆弱化が、上記インストルメントパネルの上記内側表面にCO2レーザビームを指向させて行われ、
上記展開ドアパターンに沿って上記レーザにより上記インストルメントパネルに刻みを付けるために、上記レーザビームを上記インストルメントパネルと相対的に移動させ、
上記レーザビームによって行われる材料除去をモニターし、そのモニターが、残り厚さセンサを、上記カバーにより定義された上記外側表面に隣接するように位置させて、上記レーザビームを用いた刻み付けによる上記カバー層の残り厚さを検出し、かつ対応するフィードバック信号を生成して行われ、
一つ以上の展開ドアを同時に形成すべく、上記レーザビームが、上記基盤パネルと上記フォーム層とを完全に貫通し、上記インストルメントパネルのカバーの内側を部分的に刻みを付けるように、上記レーザビームを制御し、上記ドアが上記カバーの上記予脆弱化パターンに完全に合わせれ、上記予脆弱化パターンが、上記インストルメントパネルの上記スムーズかつ途切れない外側表面の領域内に完全に位置され、
上記制御が、上記レーザビームの位置及び/或いはパワー出力を、上記フィードバック信号に対応させて変化させて行われ、そのフィードバック信号が、残りの材料の厚さを精密に制御するためと、上記インストルメントパネルのカバーの内側に部分的に延び実質的に一定間隔で離間された一連の深い刻み突入部分を形成するためとのものであり、それら突入部分が、上記カバーに、ステップ状の深さのレーザ刻み形状を形成することを特徴とする方法。 - 上記レーザによる刻み付けは、上記深い突入部分の下方の残り厚さが実質的に一定に維持されるように制御される請求項1記載の方法。
- 上記レーザの刻み付けによる予脆弱化部が、上記展開ドアパターンの3つの辺に沿って延びる請求項1記載の方法。

上記インストルメントパネルが、上記基盤パネルの内側により定義された内側表面と上記カバー層の外側により定義された外側表面とを有し、その外側表面は、上記自動車の中から見えると共に、形成される上記エアバッグ展開開口の位置にいかなるしるしも予め与えることがないように、上記所定位置にて上記予脆弱化のための刻みパターンをスムーズ、かつ途切れなく横切って延び、
