Abstract
Description
本出願は、米国特許法第119条(e)に従い、2014年1月7日に出願された米国特許仮出願第61/924,582号の利益を主張するものである。
本開示は、アスファルトバインダー組成物、ならびにそれを作製および使用する方法全般に関する。より詳細には、ビチューメン、および指定されるポリオレフィンを含むポリマーブレンドを含むアスファルトバインダー組成物が、そのようなアスファルトバインダー組成物を作製する方法および使用する方法と共に提供される。
以下の例で用いた各ポリマーのMwは、以下の通りである:
TITAN 7686(酸化HDPE):Mw=8800g/mol;結晶化度77%
TITAN 7278(MAPP):Mw=8560g/mol;結晶化度56%
TITAN 7212(PEホモポリマー):Mw=2950g/mol;結晶化度84%
TITAN 7387(PEホモポリマー):Mw=2575g/mol;結晶化度100%
サンプルアスファルトバインダー組成物を製剤するために用いた一般的手順は、以下の通りであった:(1)1パイント缶に入れたアスファルト(PG 64‐22)を、140℃に設定した熱オーブン中で溶融し;(2)このアスファルトを、熱オーブンから加熱マントルへ移し;(3)加熱マントルを190℃の温度に設定し;(4)低せん断ミキサーをアスファルトサンプル中へ下し;(5)低せん断ミキサーを作動させ、250rpmの混合速度に設定し;(6)アスファルトサンプルを、190℃の温度に到達させ;(7)ポリマー添加剤を、2分以内にこのアスファルトサンプル中にゆっくり添加し;(8)アスファルトサンプルを1時間混合し;(9)低せん断ミキサーを停止し、アスファルトサンプルから取り出し;(10)1パイント缶を、注意深く加熱マントルから取り出し;(11)1パイント缶から試験検体を調製し、AASHTO M320に従って試験した。行った試験の結果を、以下の表1にまとめる。
酸化高密度ポリエチレンおよびポリエチレンホモポリマーのブレンドの分析のために、類似の試験をさらに実施した。これらの試験の結果を、以下の表3にまとめる。
酸化高密度ポリエチレン(酸化HDPE)、またはマレイン酸変性ポリプロピレン(MAPP)、または両種類のポリマーのブレンドを含む屋根材用アスファルトバインダー組成物についても試験した(表4)。これらの試験から、酸化高密度ポリエチレンおよびマレイン酸変性ポリプロピレンのブレンドが、アスファルト硬度(PEN)およびアスファルトの軟化点に対して相乗効果を有することが示される。針入度は、ASTM D5を用いて特定し、軟化点は、ASTM D36の試験プロトコルを用いて特定した。
[2]前記酸化高密度ポリエチレンおよび前記修飾ポリマーが、それぞれ、約1:4から約4:1の質量比で存在する、[1]に記載のアスファルトバインダー組成物。
[3]少なくとも約90℃の有用温度幅(UTI)を有する、[1]に記載のアスファルトバインダー組成物。
[4]a)アスファルト、及びb)(i)酸化高密度ポリエチレン、及び(ii)マレイン酸変性ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレンホモポリマー、高結晶化度ポリエチレン、またはこれらの組み合わせから選択される修飾ポリマーを含むポリマーブレンド、から本質的に成る、[1]に記載のアスファルトバインダー組成物。
[5]骨材、及びアスファルトバインダー組成物であって,a)アスファルト、及びb)(i)酸化高密度ポリエチレン、及び(ii)マレイン酸変性ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレンホモポリマー、高結晶化度ポリエチレン、またはこれらの組み合わせから選択される修飾ポリマーを含むポリマーブレンド、を含むアスファルトバインダー組成物、を含む舗装材または屋根材。
[6]前記酸化高密度ポリエチレンおよび前記修飾ポリマーが、それぞれ、約1:4から約4:1の質量比で存在し、前記アスファルトバインダー組成物が、少なくとも約90℃の有用温度幅(UTI)を有する、[5]に記載の舗装材または屋根材。
[7]アスファルトバインダー組成物を作製するための方法であって、前記方法は、アスファルト、酸化高密度ポリエチレン、ならびに、マレイン酸変性ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレンホモポリマー、高結晶化度ポリエチレン、またはこれらの組み合わせから選択される修飾ポリマーを混合して前記アスファルトバインダー組成物を形成することを含む、方法。
[8]前記混合が、約75℃から約200℃の温度で、および約30分間から約6時間の時間にわたって行われる、[7]に記載の方法。
[9]前記アスファルトバインダー組成物が、前記アスファルトバインダー組成物の総質量に基づいて、アスファルトを約65から約99質量%、ならびに、酸化高密度ポリエチレンおよび修飾ポリマーを合わせて約1から約35質量%含む、[7]に記載の方法。
[10]前記酸化高密度ポリエチレンおよび前記修飾ポリマーが、それぞれ、約1:4から約4:1の質量比で存在する、[7]に記載の方法。
Claims (10)
- a)アスファルト、及び
b)(i)酸化高密度ポリエチレン、及び(ii)マレイン酸変性ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレンホモポリマー、高結晶化度ポリエチレン、またはこれらの組み合わせから選択される修飾ポリマーを含むポリマーブレンド、
を含むアスファルトバインダー組成物。 - 前記酸化高密度ポリエチレンおよび前記修飾ポリマーが、それぞれ、約1:4から約4:1の質量比で存在する、請求項1に記載のアスファルトバインダー組成物。
- 少なくとも約90℃の有用温度幅(UTI)を有する、請求項1に記載のアスファルトバインダー組成物。
- a)アスファルト、及び
b)(i)酸化高密度ポリエチレン、及び(ii)マレイン酸変性ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレンホモポリマー、高結晶化度ポリエチレン、またはこれらの組み合わせから選択される修飾ポリマーを含むポリマーブレンド、

を含む舗装材または屋根材。 - 前記酸化高密度ポリエチレンおよび前記修飾ポリマーが、それぞれ、約1:4から約4:1の質量比で存在し、前記アスファルトバインダー組成物が、少なくとも約90℃の有用温度幅(UTI)を有する、請求項5に記載の舗装材または屋根材。
- アスファルトバインダー組成物を作製するための方法であって、前記方法は、アスファルト、酸化高密度ポリエチレン、ならびに、マレイン酸変性ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレンホモポリマー、高結晶化度ポリエチレン、またはこれらの組み合わせから選択される修飾ポリマーを混合して前記アスファルトバインダー組成物を形成することを含む、方法。
- 前記混合が、約75℃から約200℃の温度で、および約30分間から約6時間の時間にわたって行われる、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記アスファルトバインダー組成物が、前記アスファルトバインダー組成物の総質量に基づいて、アスファルトを約65から約99質量%、ならびに、酸化高密度ポリエチレンおよび修飾ポリマーを合わせて約1から約35質量%含む、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記酸化高密度ポリエチレンおよび前記修飾ポリマーが、それぞれ、約1:4から約4:1の質量比で存在する、請求項7に記載の方法。
