Description
一般に、チューインガムベース配合物は、合成または天然起源の1種類または複数のエラストマー化合物、1種類または複数の樹脂状化合物、1種類または複数の樹脂としても知られるエラストマー可塑剤、充填剤、柔軟化化合物、および少量のその他の成分、例えば酸化防止剤、着色剤等、を含む。
好ましい化合はポリエステルであり、特に有用なこのタイプの化合物としては、米国特許第5,672,367号(参照することによりその内容をここに組み入れることとする)に開示されているような1種類または複数の環状エステルの重合によって得られるポリエステルポリマーがある。この参照文献に開示されているポリマーは、ポリマー連鎖中に、たとえば加水分解でまたは光への暴露によって壊れる化学的に不安定な結合を有することを特徴とする。
チューインガム中心材配合物は、上記の水不溶性ガムベース成分に加えて、チューインガム添加剤の範囲を含む、通常水可溶性の部分を含む。本発明においては、「チューインガム添加剤」という用語は、従来のチューインガム製造プロセスにおいてガムベースに加えられるいかなる成分も表すのに使用される。こうした従来より使用されている添加剤の大部分は水可溶性であるが、たとえば水不溶性香料化合物など水不溶性成分も含まれ得る。
本発明によると、チューインガム要素は、チューインガム中心材上に塗布した約0.1〜約75重量%の外コーティングを含む。本発明において、適した外コーティングとは、上記に定義した環境による分解性のチューインガム製品の貯蔵安定性を、被覆していない同じ組成のチューインガムに比較して延長させる任意のコーティングである。したがって、適したコーティングのタイプとしては、現在チューインガム、医薬製品、および菓子のコーティングに使用されるものを含む任意の組成物のハードコーティング、フィルムコーティング、およびソフトコーティングがある。
この実施例では、加水分解的にまたは光の影響下で壊れることができる、不安定な結合を有する環状エステルの重合によって得られた、分解性ポリマーをガムベース部分として使用した。以下では、ポリマーはBDP1として表わされる。以下のリストのチューイング添加剤と混合する前に、ガムベースポリマーを100℃の水浴中で30分間軟化/融解させた。
この実施例では、BDP1の基本性能を有するBDP2と呼ばれる異なる前融解した分解性ポリマーを使用する変更をしたが、実質上実施例1で説明した通りにチューインガムを調製した。組成および混合条件を以下の表2に列挙した。
このテストで使用した1ステップ方法は、実質上実施例4の通りであるが、ガムベースパートを実施例1で使用したBDP1と呼ばれる環境分解性ポリエステルポリマーに変更した。組成および混合条件は以下の表3に示したとおりであった。
この実施例で使用した1ステップ方法は、実質上実施例5の通りであるが、ガムベースパートを実施例3で使用したポリマーと同じ基本特性を有するBDP2と呼ばれる異なる環境分解性のポリエステルポリマーに変更した。組成および混合条件を以下の表4に列挙した。
この実施例では、チューインガムを、実質上実施例3または4の通りに調整したが、ガムベースパートとして、個々の分解性ポリマーのいずれかの代わりに、同量の分解性ポリマーBDP1およびBDP2をそれぞれ使用するように変更した。組成および混合条件を以下の表5に列挙した。
この実施例では、ガムベースパートが非分解性ポリマー(すなわち、ポリイソブチレン、低分子量を有する酢酸ビニルおよびエステルガムの混合物)および分解性ポリマーBDP1の両方からなっていた。これらのチューインガムベース成分のそれぞれが、前の実施例で使用した混合装置に、以下の表6に指示した時点で別々に加えられた。
この試験で使用した1ステップ方法は、実質上実施例3の通りであるが、比較的少量の分解性ガムベースポリマーを使用し、除いた量を充填剤と水素化脂肪で置き換えるよう変更した。組成および混合条件を、組成および混合条件をまとめる以下の表7に列挙した。
実施例1〜7で得られた任意のチューインガム塊のバッチをチューインガム中心材に成形する。始めにそれらを圧延してチューインガムのシートを得、続いて整合性のあるシートを、それぞれの重量が0.9gであるタブレットの形態のチューインガム中心材に分離する。
この実施例では、50kgのチューインガム中心材を、実施例8で述べたショ糖コーティングシロップを用いて被覆した。以下の表に方法のステップを説明する。

実施例1および2で述べた分解性ポリマーBDP1およびBDP2からなるチューインガム中心材をそれぞれ流水および40%(w/vol)クエン酸溶液中に貯蔵した。ポリマーの分解を、GPC平均Mwを測定することによって半週間間隔でモニターした。
結果を以下の表に要約する。
ガムベースのみのポリマーとして、本明細書に定義した分解性ポリマーを含むチューインガム中心材の1バッチを調製した。このバッチの一部を、実施例8に記載した方法を用いて、それぞれソルビトールおよびマルチトールコーティング懸濁液でハードコートした。バッチの残る部分は、被覆無しチューインガム中心材対照として使用した。
ソルビトール被覆および非被覆チューインガム中心材を21℃、RH55%で貯蔵したこと以外は実施例12で記載したのと同様な方法で安定性試験を実施した。試験したチューインガム中心材は、しかし、被覆をする前に周囲条件で約1年間貯蔵した。したがって、この実験の最初のMwが、新しく調製したガム中心材を使用した実施例12の場合よりかなり低かった。この低い最初のMwはポリマーの分解性の証しである。
この試験結果を以下の表に要約する。
Claims (45)
- 少なくとも1種類の環境分解性弾性または樹脂状ポリマーを含有するチューインガム中心材25〜99.9重量%と、外コーティング0.1〜75重量%とからなり、
前記少なくとも1種類の環境分解性ポリマーが、エステル、カーボネート、エーテル、アミド、ウレタン、ペプチドまたはアミノ酸のホモポリマーからなる群から選ばれる化合物から誘導され、前記外コーティングがポリオール甘味料からなることを特徴とする被覆したチューインガム。 - 外コーティングが、前記チューインガムを咀嚼する前に、少なくとも1種類の環境分解性弾性または樹脂状ポリマーの分解速度を、被覆されていない同じ組成のチューインガムに比べて低下させる、請求項1に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- 環境分解性ポリマーが、ホモポリマー、コポリマー、ターポリマー、およびグラフトポリマーからなる群より選択される、請求項1に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- 環境分解性ポリマーが、ラクチド、グリコリド、トリメチレンカーボネート、δバレロラクトン、βプロピオラクトンおよびεカプロラクトンからなる群より選択される1種類または複数の環状エステルの重合によって得られるポリエステルポリマーからなる、請求項1に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- ポリエステルポリマーがホモポリマーである、請求項4に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- ポリエステルポリマーがコポリマーである、請求項4に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- コポリマーが、ラクチドとεカプロラクトンとのコポリマーおよびεカプロラクトンとδバレロラクトンとのコポリマーからなる群から選択される、請求項6に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- ラクチドとεカプロラクトンの間の分子量の比が99:1〜80:20の範囲である、請求項7に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- ポリエステルポリマーの平均分子量(Mw)が1,000〜9,999の範囲にある、請求項4〜6のいずれか1項に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- ポリエステルポリマーの平均分子量(Mw)が10,000〜99,999の範囲にある、請求項4〜6のいずれか1項に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- ポリエステルポリマーの平均分子量(Mw)が100,000〜1,000,000の範囲にある、請求項4〜6のいずれか1項に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- チューインガム中心材の弾性成分のすべてが環境分解性ポリマーである、請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- チューインガム中心材が、ペレット、クッション型ペレット、棒状、タブレット、塊、トローチ、丸薬および球からなる群より選択した形態を有する、請求項1〜12のいずれか1項に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- 外コーティングがハードコーティングである、請求項1〜13のいずれか1項に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- ハードコーティングが、糖コーティング、無糖コーティング、およびこれらの組合せからなる群より選択される、請求項14に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- ハードコーティングが、ソルビトール、マルチトール、マンニトール、キシリトール、エリトリトール、ラクチトールおよびイソマルトからなる群より選択されるポリオールを50〜100重量%含む、請求項15に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- 外コーティングが、食用フィルム形成剤およびワックスからなる群より選択される少なくとも1種類の成分を含む食用のフィルムである、請求項1〜13のいずれか1項に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- 食用フィルム形成剤が、セルロース誘導体、変性デンプン、デキストリン、ゼラチン、シェラック、アラビアゴム、ゼイン、植物性ガム、合成ポリマーおよびそれらの任意の組合せからなる群より選択される、請求項17に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- 外コーティングが、結合剤、水分吸収成分、フィルム形成剤、分散剤、抗固着成分、増量剤、香料、着色剤、薬学的にまたは美容的に有効な成分、脂質成分、ワックス成分、糖および酸、ならびに、前記環境分解性ポリマーの咀嚼後の分解を促進することが可能な薬剤からなる群より選択される少なくとも1種類の添加剤成分を含む、請求項14〜18のいずれか1項に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- 環境分解性ポリマーの咀嚼後の分解を促進することが可能な薬剤が加水分解活性酵素である、請求項19に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- 少なくとも1種類の添加剤成分がカプセル化されている、請求項19または20に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- 外コーティングがソフトコーティングである、請求項1〜13のいずれか1項に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- ソフトコーティングが、糖およびデンプン加水分解物からなる群より選択されるコーティング剤を含む、請求項22に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- ソフトコーティングが無糖のコーティング剤を含む、請求項22に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- 請求項1〜13のいずれか1項に記載の被覆したチューインガムを調製するためのハードコーティング方法であって、
(i)エステル、カーボネート、エーテル、アミド、ウレタン、ペプチドまたはアミノ酸のホモポリマーからなる群から選択される化合物から誘導される、少なくとも1種類の環境分解性弾性または樹脂状ポリマーからなるチューインガム塊を調製する工程、
(ii)前記チューインガム塊をガム中心材の所望の形態に形成する工程、
(iii)形成されたチューインガム中心材を、ポリオールを含むコーティング剤の水溶液をガム中心材上に塗布するコーティングサイクルに、少なくとも1サイクルかける工程、および
(iv)コーティング層がチューインガムの0.1〜75重量%になるまで、前記サイクルを反復する工程、
を有する方法。 - 少なくとも1つのコーティングサイクルが、同じコーティング剤を中心材上に粉末状で塗布する工程、および部分的に被覆した中心材を乾燥する工程からなる群から選択される、少なくとも1つの工程をさらに有する、請求項25に記載の方法。
- コーティング剤が水素化デンプン加水分解物を含む、請求項26に記載の方法。
- ポリオールが、ソルビトール、マルチトール、マンニトール、キシリトール、エリトリトール、ラクチトール、およびイソマルトからなる群から選択される、請求項25に記載の方法。
- コーティング方法が10〜100コーティングサイクルからなる、請求項25〜28のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- コーティングの間に、結合剤、水分吸収成分、フィルム形成剤、分散剤、抗固着成分、増量剤、香料、着色剤、薬学的にまたは美容的に有効な成分、脂質成分、ワックス成分、糖および酸、ならびに、前記環境分解性ポリマーの咀嚼後の分解を促進することが可能な薬剤からなる群より選択される少なくとも1種類の添加剤成分を塗布する、請求項25〜29のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 環境分解性ポリマーの咀嚼後の分解を促進することが可能な薬剤が加水分解活性酵素である、請求項30に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1種類の添加剤成分がカプセル化されている、請求項30または31に記載の方法。
- 被覆されるチューインガム中心材がガミングまたはグレイジング処理にかけられる、請求項25〜32のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 平滑化処理、つや消し処理,およびフィルムコーティングからなる群より選択される工程をさらに有する、請求項25〜33のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 請求項1〜13のいずれか1項に記載の被覆されたチューインガムを被覆する方法であって、コーティング層を0.1〜75重量%含む、少なくとも部分的に被覆されたチューインガムを得るために、
i)エステル、カーボネート、エーテル、アミド、ウレタン、ペプチドまたはアミノ酸のホモポリマーからなる群から選択される化合物から誘導される、少なくとも1種類の環境分解性弾性または樹脂状ポリマーからなるチューインガム塊を調製する工程、
(ii)前記チューインガム塊をガム中心材の所望の形態に成形する工程、および
(iii)形成されたチューインガム中心材の少なくとも一部上に、ポリオールを含む、少なくとも1種類の食用フィルム形成剤からなる食用フィルムを塗布する工程、
を有する方法。 - コーティングが、結合剤、水分吸収成分、フィルム形成剤、分散剤、抗固着成分、増量剤、香料、着色剤、薬学的にまたは美容的に有効な成分、脂質成分、ワックス成分、糖および酸、ならびに、前記環境分解性ポリマーの咀嚼後の分解を促進することが可能な薬剤からなる群より選択される少なくとも1種類の添加剤成分を含む、請求項33〜35のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 環境分解性ポリマーの咀嚼後の分解を促進することが可能な薬剤が加水分解活性酵素である、請求項36に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1種類の添加剤成分がカプセル化されている、請求項36または37に記載の方法。
- 請求項22に記載の被覆されたチューインガムを得るためのソフトコーティング方法であって、
i)エステル、カーボネート、エーテル、アミド、ウレタン、ペプチドまたはアミノ酸のホモポリマーからなる群から選択される化合物から誘導される、少なくとも1種類の環境分解性弾性または樹脂状ポリマーからなるチューインガム塊を調製する工程、
(ii)前記チューインガム塊をガム中心材の所望の形態に成形する工程、および
(iii)得られたチューインガム中心材を、ソフトコーティング層がチューインガムの0.1〜75重量%となるまで、中心材に非結晶性炭水化物溶液およびポリオール粉末を交互に塗布するソフトコーティング方法にかける工程、
を有する方法。 - 非結晶性炭水化物溶液がデンプン加水分解物を含む、請求項39に記載の方法。
- コーティングが、結合剤、水分吸収成分、フィルム形成剤、分散剤、抗固着成分、増量剤、香料、着色剤、薬学的にまたは美容的に有効な成分、脂質成分、ワックス成分、糖および酸、ならびに、前記環境分解性ポリマーの咀嚼後の分解を促進することが可能な薬剤からなる群より選択される少なくとも1種類の添加剤成分を含む、請求項39または40に記載の方法。
- 環境分解性ポリマーの咀嚼後の分解を促進することが可能な薬剤が加水分解活性酵素である、請求項41に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1種類の添加剤成分がカプセル化されている、請求項41または42に記載の方法。
- コーティングが親水性の低い成分としてマルチトールを含む、請求項1〜24のいずれか1項に記載の被覆したチューインガム。
- コーティングが無糖コーティングである請求項39〜43のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
