Description
a)溶融ガラスが重力作用によって溶融金属槽上を拡がって熱拡散領域を形成するように溶融金属槽上へ溶融ガラスを注入する工程、
b)溶融ガラスから形成されるガラスシートと無接触であるフラグを流動溶融ガラスの両側上の前記熱拡散領域中の溶融金属槽中に配置する工程、及び
c)前記ガラスシートを加速することによって該ガラスシートへ最終出口速度を与える工程を含んで構成される。
厚さが約0.7mmである薄平板ガラスシートを先行技術に従った従来型フロート装置において引き伸ばした。先行技術によるフロート装置から出て来たガラスシートの厚さを測定した。このガラスシートの厚さを図4にグラフで示す。この測定は複反射法を用いて実施され、この方法ではガラスシート上へレーザ等電界強度線を投射して、ガラスシートの前面及び後面それぞれから受け取った反射のスペーシングから厚さを算出した。厚さ変動は図4に示した通りである。次いで、各場合について、形成中のガラスシート両面上の溶融金属中へフロート槽の前面(槽入口)から約3.5mのスペーシングを取ってフラグを挿入した。側壁に対するフラグの角度は90°であり、側壁までのスペーシングは0cm、及びガラスの流れまでのスペーシングは20cmであった。フラグのサイズは70cmであり、フロートタンク底部上へ据え付けられた。かかる構造において得られた厚さ変動を図5に示した。図4から測定された先行技術に従った薄平板ガラスシートあるいは基板についての厚さ変動は約57μmである一方、他方本発明に従った薄平板ガラスシートあるいは基板についての対応する厚さ変動は約18μmである。
Claims (1)
- 1.5mm未満の厚さ、少なくとも1800mmの長さ、少なくとも1800mmの幅をもち、及び厚さが0.4〜1.1mmであり、最小厚と最大厚の差が30μm未満であり、ナトリウムイオンが1000ppm以下であることを特徴とする平板フロートガラス基板。
