Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent shorts with neighboring conductors by using a conductive material in either one of a lead terminal or a connection terminal to be engaged with such lead terminal on the side of a printed wiring board, applying a resin thereupon, and causing the lead terminal and the connecting terminal to conduct by heating and pressuring. CONSTITUTION:A preliminary solder 5 is applied to a connecting terminal 3 to be engaged with a lead terminal 1 formed on a substrate 2, a thermoset or thermoplastic resin 6 being applied to such preliminary solder 5. Then the preliminary solder 5 is applied to the connecting terminal 3 along the direction of arrow A from the top of the printed wiring board 4, the part to which the resin 6 has been applied is pressured while heating the lead terminal 1 at a solder melting temperature. By solder bonding both the connecting terminal 3 and the lead terminal 1 with the preliminary solder 5 and thermosetting the resin 6 simultaneously, the connection terminal 3 and the lead terminal 1 are bonded and fixed. According to the constitution, the preliminary solder 5 is applied only to the connecting terminal 3, whereby there is no squeeze-out of superfluous solder when connecting both terminals 1, 3 and shorts with the neighboring conductors can be prevented.

A variety of terminal connection methods have been known in the past, including EL, which requires a large amount of current to flow.
Soldering is often used for POPi and POPi. Conventionally, the method for connecting terminals of electronic components by soldering involves applying preliminary solder to both the lead terminals of the electronic components and the connection terminals on the printed wiring board side.

As a result, a large amount of solder is used, and when the terminals are connected, the excess solder protrudes, resulting in a short circuit with adjacent terminals or other conductors.Furthermore, the lead-out terminals of electronic components are made of aluminum foil. In the case of materials that cannot be soldered, such as
Even if this was done forcibly, the conduction stability would be extremely poor.

Therefore, the present invention has been made by focusing on the above-mentioned conventional problems, and solves these problems and prevents short circuits with adjacent conductors! It is an object of the present invention to provide a method for connecting terminals of electronic components, which allows reliable conduction to be obtained even in the case of terminals made of materials that cannot be soldered.

In order to achieve this object, the method for connecting terminals of electronic components according to the present invention provides electrical conductivity between either a lead-out terminal formed on an electronic component or a connecting terminal on a printed wiring board that is compatible with the lead-out terminal. After applying a thermosetting resin or a thermoplastic resin to the conductive material, the lead terminal and the connecting terminal curve are heated and pressurized to bring them into electrical continuity.

As mentioned above, since conductive material, especially preliminary solder, is applied to either the electronic component lead-out terminal or the connection terminal on the printed wiring board side, the size of the conductive material is reduced and short circuits with adjacent conductors are prevented. I can do it.

Since the connection state is solidified by the resin, conductivity is also stabilized. Furthermore, when preliminary solder is used as a conductive material, even if the lead terminal cannot be soldered, the connection state is stabilized by the hardening of the resin and the pressure bonding force.

After applying preliminary solder 5 to the connection terminal 3 described above and applying thermosetting or thermoplastic resin 6 to the preliminary solder 5, connect the connection terminal 3 from above the FPC 4 in the direction of arrow A in the figure. Preliminary solder 5 is applied to the lead terminal 1, and the part coated with resin 6 is pressed against the lead terminal 1 while being heated at the solder melting temperature. If the lead terminal l is made of a material that can be soldered,
By this heating and pressurization, solder bonding between the connection terminal 3 and the lead-out terminal 1 by the preliminary solder 5 and hardening of the resin 6 are performed at the same time, and the bonded state is fixed. In addition, if the lead terminal l is made of a material that cannot be soldered, such as aluminum foil, the heating temperature described above is lower than the melting point of the preliminary solder 5, and the lead terminal l is
