。Therefore, when the above-mentioned side reactions occur, the absolute amount of the redox pair (Cr"/Fe2+ or Cr"/Fe") decreases, and as the charging and discharging operations are repeated, the amount of energy stored in the battery, that is, the battery capacity decreases. Not only that, but also the internal resistance of the battery increases and the charging/discharging efficiency tends to decrease.

。First, in the redox flow battery 1, as the charging/discharging operation is repeated, Fe3+
Ions (or Cr3+ ions) become excessive, and the electrolytic solution deteriorates as described above. In this electrolyte regeneration device, the excess Fe''+ ions are reduced by the electrolyte regeneration device 11. Therefore, Fe2+ ions are regenerated and the balance of redox pairs is made normal.

This hydrochloric acid has excellent performance as an electrolyte regenerating solution. However, as is clear from equation (2) above, toxic chlorine gas is generated from the cathode liquid tank, so it is basically unsafe to use the gas absorption device 22 when put into practical use. This poses a problem in that it is necessary, lacks compactness, and is inconvenient to operate. Furthermore, since the equipment handles chlorine gas, corrosion-resistant materials are required for the equipment, and sufficient consideration must be given to airtightness to prevent leaks, resulting in high costs.
