Conventional technology Conventional reverb devices include methods that use springs to generate reverberant sound in an analog manner, and systems that use digital filters and delay circuits to generate reverberant sound digitally, but the former is unnatural. However, the latter had the disadvantage of being expensive, as the mechanical shock could generate noise. Therefore, in order to easily add a reverb effect to an electronic musical instrument, it is possible to create a lingering sound by lengthening the sustain time (decay time) after the key is released, thereby producing an effect similar to reverb. However, the characteristics of the musical sound waveform when normally produced are different from those produced as a reverberant sound, so
It has been difficult to obtain a satisfactory and high-quality reverb effect simply by lengthening the sustain time of a normal musical sound waveform.

Summary of the Invention The electronic musical instrument of the present invention has a first musical tone generating means (ordinary musical tone generating means) that generates a first musical tone signal in accordance with a specified pitch with a prescribed waveform and a prescribed amplitude envelope. In a separate series, a second musical tone signal corresponding to a specified pitch has a waveform different from that of the first musical tone signal, and has a lower volume level and a longer duration than the first musical tone signal. The present invention is characterized in that a second musical tone generating means is provided which generates a tone using a key envelope. As a result, the second musical tone signal, that is, the reverberation sound signal, which is generated with a long decay envelope at a low level, can have a waveform different from that of the first musical tone signal, that is, the normal musical tone signal. , you can get high-quality reverb effects.

Embodiment In FIG. 1, a keyboard 10 includes a plurality of keys for specifying pitches of musical tones, and a pressed key detection circuit 11 detects a pressed key on the keyboard 10 and generates a key code indicating the pressed key. It outputs a key-on signal KON indicating whether or not the KC and the key are being pressed continuously.
The phase generator 12 generates phase data corresponding to an instantaneous phase angle that changes at a rate corresponding to a specified pitch based on a key code KC. The first waveform memory 13 stores sample point amplitude data of a normal musical instrument waveform, and a musical sound waveform corresponding to a predetermined timbre is selected according to the timbre selection by the timbre selection device 14, and this is selected by the phase generator 12. are sequentially read out according to the phase data from. It is possible to select according to the tone color selection information TC according to No. 4. As the reverberant sound waveform to be stored in the second waveform memory 15, for example, a waveform having fewer harmonic components than the normal musical sound waveform stored in the first waveform memory 13 is selected.

The first envelope generator 16 generates a normal envelope signal E1 based on the key-on signal KON given from the key press detection circuit 11. The second envelope generator 17 generates an envelope signal E2 having a decay envelope having a lower level and a longer duration than the normal envelope signal E1 as a key-on signal KON.
Occurs based on. FIG. 2 shows an example of the first and second envelope signals E1 and E2 corresponding to the key-on signal KON. For example, while pressing a key (KON=
The level of the second envelope signal E2 (“1”) is about 10 to 20 dB lower than the level of the first envelope signal E1, and after the key is released (KON=

The second envelope signal E2 is much longer than the envelope signal E1, and of course the second envelope signal E2 is at a low level even in the decay portion. The shape of the envelope signal E1 to be generated by the first envelope generator 16 can be selected according to the timbre selection information TC from the timbre selection device 14.
The shape of the envelope signal E2 in No. 7 is also tone selection information.
It may be possible to select it depending on the TC.

The multiplier 18 multiplies the normal musical waveform signal read from the first waveform memory 13 by the normal envelope signal E1 from the first envelope generator 16, and performs envelope control as usual. In the multiplier 19, the second waveform memory 15
The musical waveform signal for reverberant sound read out from the second envelope generator 17 is multiplied by a low-level envelope signal E2 having a long decay time. The output of the multiplier 18 is finally given to the sound system 20 (if it is a digital signal, it passes through a D/A converter). The output of multiplier 19 is finally provided to sound system 20 via gate 21 (via a D/A converter). The gate 21 is opened when a reverb effect is selected by the reverb selection device 22, and the reverberant musical sound signal, which has a relatively low level and a very long decay time envelope, is sent to the sound system 20.
give to The reverb selection device 22 may be configured to allow the player to select a reverb effect by manually operating a switch, or may be configured to automatically select a reverb effect in accordance with the tone selection information TC. You can.

With the above configuration, when the reverb effect is selected, a musical tone signal for reverberant sound is generated together with a normal musical tone signal at a low volume level and with a long decay time, and it is possible to produce a lingering sound equivalent to that of the reverberant sound.

Note that the second envelope signal E2 is E in FIG.
As shown in 2', it may consist only of a decay envelope that rises when a key is released. Also,
The reverb effect can be selected independently of the gate 21.
This can also be done by controlling the operation of the waveform memory 15 or the second envelope generator 17.

The waveform memories 13 and 15 can store only one period waveform and read it repeatedly, store multiple period waveforms and read it repeatedly as needed, or store all waveforms of the entire sound generation period and read them repeatedly. Any suitable method may be adopted, such as a method of reading all the data in one go. It is also possible to store musical sound waveforms with envelopes (all waveforms) in the memories 13 and 15 and read them out, without particularly providing the envelope generators 16 and 17. Furthermore, the musical tone signal generation method is not limited to the one using only the waveform memory as described above, but any other musical tone generation method such as a frequency modulation calculation method, a harmonic synthesis method, or the like can be used. Of course, the present invention can also be applied to multitone electronic musical instruments. In that case, for example, the key press detection circuit 11 shown in FIG. outputs the key-on signal KON, and outputs the waveform memories 13 and 15 and the envelope generators 16 and 17.
The musical waveform signal and the envelope signal may be generated in a time-division manner.
