Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve the enhancement of decorativeness and cost reduction, by applying a required pattern to the coating surface of a pencil by dry offset printing using UV ink and subsequently applying stamping to the surface containing the pattern part due to printing. CONSTITUTION:At first, a pattern is applied to the coating surface of a pencil 1 by dry offset printing using UV ink and stamping is subsequently applied to the surface containing the pattern part 2 due to printing using a roll type hot stamping machine to form a foil part 3 to the part other than the pattern part due to printing. When the UV ink is used, the transfer of a foil to the printed surface of said ink becomes impossible and the foil is not transferred to the pattern part 2 due to printing but transferred to the other place and the restriction of the design of the pattern part 2 is eliminated to become free and a novel design becomes possible. Since no foil is transferred to the printed part even when the stamping part is overlapped with the printed part, both of the printed part and the foil part are respectively expressed finely and sharp ly.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Industrial Field of Application] The present invention relates to a method of decorating the surface of a pencil shaft with patterns such as designs and letters by printing and foil stamping.

■Method of transferring foil onto a relatively wide solid surface of the pencil shaft surface using a roll-type hot stamping machine,■First apply a pattern etc. by printing on the surface of the pencil shaft, and then apply the above ■or■ to the other parts. There are methods of transferring foil using the following method. However, methods (1) and (2) above have the disadvantage of simply stamping with foil, resulting in a monotonous pattern, lack of decoration, and lack of interest. In addition, with method (■), the pattern is applied by printing and foil stamping, which eliminates the monotony to some extent, but since there is a restriction that foil stamping is applied to areas other than the printed areas, it is difficult to make the pattern complex, and it is difficult to create a complex pattern. It has no choice but to have a monotonous design, which has the disadvantage of lacking in interest. Recently, a type of foil called Detsuka Hot Transfer Foil, in which multicolored foil and aluminum vapor deposition are processed into the same film, has been developed, and a method of thermally transferring this foil to enhance its decorativeness has also been used. However, the manufacturing process for this foil is extremely complicated and expensive, so it has the disadvantage of adding to the cost of the pencil.

In the present invention, a pattern is applied by printing and embossment, and the design of the pattern is free from restrictions and is therefore freed from monotony, improving decorativeness and increasing interest, and at a low cost. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a new method for decorating the surface of a pencil shaft, which requires only a small amount of curvature.

The method for decorating the surface of a pencil shaft according to the present invention, which was devised to achieve the above object, involves applying a grainy pattern to the painted surface of the pencil shaft by dry offset printing using UV ink.
After that, foil stamping is applied to the surface including the printed pattern, and the surface is decorated with the printed pattern and the flute portions other than the printed pattern.

The illustrated pencil is made by first applying a pattern on the painted surface of the pencil barrel (1) by dry offset printing using UV ink, and then applying roll-type hot stamping to the surface including the printed pattern (2). Using a machine, foil stamping is applied to the parts other than the printed pattern part (2) to make the flute part (3).

When UV ink is used, it is impossible to transfer the foil to the printed surface. Therefore, when foil stamping is applied to the surface including the pattern area (2) printed using LIV ink, the pattern area (2) printed using LIV ink is stamped with foil.
In 2), the foil is not transferred and the foil is transferred only to other locations. According to the method (■) of the prior art described above, if the design of the pattern part (2) by printing is complicated or detailed, other parts (for example, the antlers and the leapt part of the antler of the illustrated deer pattern, etc.) ) It is extremely difficult to stamp with foil so that it does not overlap with the printed area, and the design of the printed area must be made simple, but with the method of the present invention, it is possible to stamp with foil so that it overlaps with the printed area, so it can be precisely In other words, there are no constraints on the design of the pattern section (2) due to printing, allowing freedom and novel designs. Furthermore, even if the foil-stamped part overlaps the printed part, the foil is not transferred onto the printed part, so both the printed part and the whistle part appear delicately and clearly. Therefore, the decorativeness of the surface of the pencil shaft is greatly improved and the interest is increased. In addition, the present invention employs dry offset printing, and unlike gravure plates, the resin plate used therein can be easily plate-made in a short time and at low cost, so it has the advantage of being able to handle a wide variety of products in small quantities.
