2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, many image forming apparatuses such as copying machines that are capable of enlarging and reducing images have been commercially available. However, many users of image forming devices such as copiers with variable image magnification often form images that are the same size as the original (hereinafter referred to as "same size"), and the enlarged area of the original is reduced. It is common that image formation (hereinafter referred to as variable magnification) is relatively rare. However, in conventional image forming apparatuses, after image formation is completed at a non-standard magnification, or if the apparatus is left unattended with the non-standard magnification set, it is often the case that the user forgets to set the magnification and the standard magnification is changed. Although the image was intended to be formed, an image with a non-standard magnification is formed, resulting in many copy mistakes, which poses problems in terms of time and cost.

Furthermore, if a non-standard magnification is selected during the timed operation of the common timer, the timed operation is restarted, so the timed operation can be extended even after image formation is completed or after the non-standard magnification selection is input. After the previous operator selects a non-standard magnification or forms an image at a non-standard magnification, the next operator selects a non-standard magnification and reverts to the standard magnification while setting the document. It can be prevented.

The process of forming an electrostatic latent image on the photosensitive drum 14 will be explained. First, a copy start signal is sent to the photosensitive drum 1.
4 starts rotating, and at the same time the electromagnetic clutch 19 operates, the optical system 10 returns to its home position, reaches the position of the sensor 3, and temporarily stops. Next, when the home position 16 of the photosensitive drum reaches the sensor 32, the surface of the photosensitive drum 14 is uniformly charged by a corona charger (not shown). When the photosensitive drum 14 rotates a predetermined angle and the charged surface reaches a position where the reflected image of the original 1 is incident, one of the electromagnetic clutches 20, 21, 22, and 23 operates, and the optical system 10 The camera moves in the direction of 26 and starts exposure scanning. Thereafter, exposure scanning is performed so that the reflected image of the leading edge 30 of the original 1 coincides with the position 31 on the photosensitive drum 14, and when the optical system 10 passes the leading edge position 30 of the original 1, the speed is stable and synchronized with the photosensitive drum 14. Exposure scan with . When the optical system 10 reaches the sensor 4 at the reversal position, it stops the exposure scan and reverses in the direction indicated by the arrow 26. The process then develops and transfers the formed electrostatic latent image onto an image support, such as paper fed from a cassette, and completes the copying after fixing.

When copying in two sizes, ie, a size 34 equal to the original 33 and a size 35 1/n of the original 33 shown in FIG. 2, the scanning speed of the optical system 10 and the speed of the photosensitive drum 14 are equal in the same size copying However, in reduction copying such as 35, the scanning speed of the optical system 10 is
It needs to be faster than 4. Furthermore, the lens system 29 must be moved to the position 29' indicated by the broken line and zoomed out. Since these control methods are not the main point of the present invention, they will be omitted.

The following describes the operation when the reduction instruction switch PB2 is pressed and then the copy button 41 is pressed. Press the switch PB2 at time T 0 in FIG. 6 and at time T 1
When the copy button 41 is pressed, copying starts in the reduction mode, the copy signal SK1 goes to the "1" level, the relay K1 is turned on and the contact K1-1 is opened, so even if the switch PB1 is pressed, the relay K2 does not operate. This creates a so-called switching prohibited state. Another contact K1-2 related to relay K1 is closed, so capacitor C1 is not filled. time
When copying ends at T 2 , copy signal SK1 becomes “0”
level, the relay K1 is turned off, the contact K1-1 is closed, the inhibited state is released, and switching becomes possible. At the same time, the contact K1-2 is opened and the capacitor C1 is connected via the resistors R2 and R3.
Charging starts. The charging circuit consisting of resistors R2, R3 and capacitor C1 is a unijunction transistor (hereinafter referred to as UJT) Q1.
If the open circuit voltage ratio of UJTQ1 is Y, the voltage of capacitor C1 is 24×Y.
When it becomes [V], that is, at time T 3 , UJTQ1
The resistance between the base and emitter becomes low, and the charge of the capacitor C1 is discharged through the resistor R5, and a voltage is generated across the resistor R5. This is a well-known oscillator circuit,
The oscillation period of this oscillation circuit can be adjusted by variable resistor R2, but here it is selected to be about 30 seconds to 60 seconds. The oscillation output of this oscillation circuit is a voltage applied to resistor R5, and this output is amplified by transistors Q2 and Q4 and input to coil S of relay K2. In other words, the coil S of relay K2 is at the end time of copying.
It is excited at time T 3 , which is 30 to 60 seconds after T 2 ,
Switch the contact K2-1 to the a side to set the mode to 1x. However, if the copy button 41 is pressed again between time T2 and time T3 , copying will be performed in the reduced mode. After switching to the same size, when the switch PB2 is pressed at time T4 , the relay K3 is turned on.
As a result, the contact K3-1 closes only when the switch PB2 is pressed, discharging the capacitor C1, and pressing the copy button 41 at time T5 while remaining in the reduction mode.
Press to get a reduced copy.

Next, after switching to 1x mode, press the switch.
If the copy button 41 is not pressed during the time interval of 30 seconds to 60 seconds after pressing PB2 at time T 6 ,
The oscillation circuit again causes oscillation at time T7 , and the coil S of relay K2 passes through transistors Q2 and Q4.

Therefore, using a time constant circuit including resistors R9 and R10 and capacitor C2, transistor Q3 is operated immediately after power is turned on, and a pulse having a certain width is applied to coil S of relay K2 to set the equal-magnification mode. Immediately after the power is turned on, the charge on the capacitor C2 is 0, so it is charged by the resistors R9 and R10. Until this charging is completed, transistor Q3 operates and R

flows. As a result, contact K2-1 is connected to the a side, relay K4 is turned on, and the state of copying at the same size is established.
Note that the magnification may be set to the same magnification after a certain period of time after the power is turned on.

As explained above, according to the present invention, after forming an image in the variable magnification mode of reduction or enlargement in an image magnification conversion device such as a copying machine, or after selecting the variable magnification mode, within a certain period of time, If you do not instruct image formation, or after turning on the power, you can automatically return to the state where image formation is performed at the same magnification or the magnification normally used by the user, without the need to instruct the magnification. The user only needs to perform the magnification instruction operation when forming an image at a magnification that is not normally used. Therefore, the device according to the present invention does not cause copy errors even if the user forgets to specify the magnification, and is extremely practical in terms of cost and time.
