A detector that emits a signal when the relative position with the object to be measured reaches a certain positional relationship, and a control device that controls the moving speed of the main body of the apparatus or the object to be measured based on the output signal of the detector. It is characterized by comprising the following.

By detecting the displacement of the contact body, the contact detection device detects contact of the object to be measured with the contact body. Further, the detector emits a signal when the relative positions of the main body of the apparatus and the object to be measured reach a certain positional relationship. Based on the output signal of this detector, the control device controls the moving speed of the main body of the apparatus or the object to be measured. Under the control of this control device, the moving speed of the device main body or the object to be measured is set to high speed when the relative position of the device main body and the object to be measured is far from the above-mentioned fixed positional relationship. If the measurement speed is set when the object is closer than the relationship, the time required to move the object to be measured or the main body of the apparatus can be shortened.

When the object to be measured 45 reaches the position 45' with respect to the device 1 in FIG. 1, the non-contact position detector 27 outputs a signal, and the control device 3 receives this signal and The moving speed of the object 45 or the device body l is switched to the measurement speed. In other words, the moving speed of the object to be measured 45 or the apparatus main body 1 is such that the distance between the object to be measured 45 and the contactor 8 of the apparatus main body 1 is 45' with respect to the apparatus 1 in FIG. The measured speed will be used only when they are approaching each other in the positional relationship shown, and at other times, the maximum speed allowed by the equipment etc. can be used. Therefore, the time required to move the object to be measured 45 or the apparatus main body 1 during measurement can be reduced compared to the conventional method.

As a result, foreign substances such as chips and cutting oil adhering to the spherical portion 7 of the contactor 8 or the glass plate 32 are blown off and removed by air or the like in a timely manner. Therefore, a foreign object may get caught between the contact 8 and the object to be measured, resulting in a measurement failure, or a foreign object attached to the glass plate 32 may block the light receiving/emitting part 28a of the non-touch-axis position detector 27. Therefore, the non-contact type position detector 27 will not malfunction.

The measurement speed can be set only when the object is approaching from a certain positional relationship, and at other times, it can be set to the maximum speed allowed by the equipment. Therefore, the time required to move the object to be measured or the main body of the apparatus during measurement can be reduced compared to the conventional method. Therefore, by using the contact detection device of the present invention, the measurement time for automatic measurement of machine tools, etc. can be shortened compared to conventional methods.
