Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to stably treat hair by heating, by a method wherein phase control is applied to electric power supplied to a heater by a switching device and a temperature at which the heater generates heat can be manually varied. CONSTITUTION:When a switch contact 49 is in the off position by fully turning a dial 17 counterclockwise, electricity is not charged in a condenser 45, and hence, since a switching element 41 is continued in the off state, heat is not generated by a heater 6 and cool air is blown off from an outlet 4. At this time, when the dial 17 for adjusting an air temperature blown is turned clockwise a little, the switch contact 49 is turned on at the same time and the electricity is begun to be charged into the condenser 45 through a variable resistor 46. When a charged voltage in the condenser 45 is beyond an on-voltage of a generating element 43 for a trigger signal, an electric current is applied to a gate of the switching element 41 and the switching element 41 is intermittently turned on, and then the phase-controlled electric power is supplied to the heater 6. In this manner, the electric power supplied to the heater 6 is continuously varied from 300 to 1200 watts by a changeover switch 16 being operated together with the variable resistor 46.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] However, when trying to implement the above-mentioned control circuit with a simple configuration such as a charging/discharging circuit, control tends to become unstable during a short conduction time of the switching element. In other words, even though the temperature setting is the same, the actual power supplied to the heater varies depending on whether the temperature setting is lowered while the power is on or when the main switch is turned on and off while maintaining the setting state. This was an inconvenience. Particularly in the case of devices such as hair dryers that require hot air to be blown directly onto the human body, such variations in set temperature pose a serious problem, such as increasing discomfort during use.

Therefore, if the switch contact 49 is turned off by turning the dial 17 counterclockwise, the capacitor 45 will not be charged, and the switching element 4 will remain in the off state and the heater 6 will not generate heat and the air outlet will be closed. Cold air is blown out from 4.

At this point, when the air temperature adjustment dial 17 is slightly turned to the right, the switch contact 49 is turned on with a sense of moderation, and charging of the capacitor l15 is started via the variable resistor 4G. When the charging voltage of the capacitor 45 exceeds the on-voltage of the trigger signal generating element 43, current is passed through the gate of the switching element 41, the switching element 41 is intermittently turned on, and phase-controlled power is supplied to the heater 6. . Therefore, the power supplied to the heater 6 is continuously changed between 300W and 1200W in conjunction with the operation of the changeover switch 1G and the variable resistor 46.

By the way, immediately after the switch contact 49 is turned on, the IIL resistance value of the variable resistor 46 is relatively large, the charging time constant of the charging/discharging circuit 47 is also large, and the conduction period of the switching element 41 is also short, so that the power is The control itself tends to be unstable. However, since the resistance value at this time is set in advance to a value sufficient to perform stable control, the main switch 15 is pressed while the temperature is set at the low temperature position.
Even after repeated on/off operations, stable power control is achieved.
