Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve productivity by constituting a fuse element of a fuse film which is given by film formation at the external surface of a sintered substance. CONSTITUTION:A laminate capacitor is constituted between first and second external electrodes 7 and 8, and a fuse element by a fuse film 10 is constituted between the second external electrode 8 and a third external electrode 3. Accordingly, a capacitor and the fuse element are connected in series between the first external electrode 7 and the third external electrode 39. Also, the fuse element is constituted of the fuse film 10 which is formed integrally at the surface a sintered substance 6. The fuse film 10 can be formed extremely easily by a film formation method and is also excellent in the point of productivity.

On the other hand, a second external electrode 8 is provided on the sintered body 6 at the side surface portion where the internal electrode 5a based on the electrode paste 5 shown in FIG. 2 is drawn out. That is, the second external electrode 8 is provided to electrically connect the internal electrode 5a. In the structure shown in FIG. 1, the second external electrode 8 covers not only the exposed side surface portion of the internal electrode 5a but also the upper and lower surfaces of the ceramic sintered body 6, and is formed in an annular shape. This is to facilitate the formation and connection of a fuse film 1O, which will be described later, on the upper surface of the sintered body 6.

The third external electrode 9 is provided on a side surface portion facing the first external electrode 7. However, if the side surface portion of the sintered body 6 is a side surface portion where the internal electrodes of the multilayer capacitor are not exposed and the position cannot be electrically connected to the first and second external electrodes 7.8, sintering may occur. The third external electrode 9 may be formed on any part of the outer surface of the body 6.

Second. A fuse membrane 10 is provided between the third external electrodes 8 and 9.
It is formed to be electrically connected to both. This fuse film IO is formed by any 1119 forming method such as vapor deposition, sputtering, ion blating, etc. Further, as a material constituting the fuse film IO, a low melting point metal such as lead or a high resistance metal such as a Ni/Cr alloy can be used. Furthermore, if the width of the fuse film IO is to be extremely narrow, it is possible to use not only these low melting point metals and high resistance metals but also other metal materials.

Furthermore, since the fuse element is constituted by a fuse film 10 integrally formed on the surface of the sintered body 6, it is easier to handle the conventional externally attached multilayer capacitor in which fuse elements are combined. It can be seen that there is no need for an additional structure such as enclosing it in an exterior resin case. moreover,
The fuse film 10 can be easily formed by scratching by the above-described thin film forming method, and is therefore superior to the conventional example in terms of productivity.

In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, when applying the fuse film IO, the first external electrode 7 and the third external electrode 9 must be applied separately. That is, the fuse II#lO is accidentally connected between the second external electrode 8 and the first external electrode 7.
In this case, the fuse element would be connected in parallel with the multilayer capacitor, and the third external electrode 9 would be in a floating state.

The fuse film 22 is formed to be electrically connected between the fourth external electrode 21 and the second external electrode 18. When forming this fuse film 22, a second film is formed in the center. Since it is only necessary to form the fuse element so that it is electrically connected between the fourth external electrodes 18 and 21, it is possible to reliably connect the fuse element to the multilayer capacitor without carrying out the direction selection work as in the embodiment of FIG. Can be formed in series.

In addition, in each of the illustrated embodiments, the fuse film 10.22
, 32.42 were exposed to the outside, but a protective film made of resin or the like may be formed to cover the fuse film. By covering the fuse film with such a protective film, the durability of the fuse film can be increased. Mechanical impact resistance can be improved, adhesion of unnecessary metals such as solder can be prevented, and it is also possible to prevent oxidation of the fuse film. Further, this protective film may be applied to a portion other than the fuse film except for the electrical connection portion with the outside. In other words, it is sufficient to apply it so as to cover at least the fuse area, excluding the electrode part for attachment to a printed circuit board or the like.

Furthermore, in the embodiments shown in FIGS. 1 and 3, one of the internal electrodes constituting the multilayer capacitor is exposed on the short side surface of the sintered body 6, and the other internal electrode is exposed on the long side side surface of the sintered body 6. However, it is not always necessary to expose the internal electrodes to different side surfaces in this way.

Each internal electrode may be exposed on the side surface of the sintered body to which the sintered body 1 is attached. In that case, the sintered body 1
A fuse n5! is connected between the external electrode attached to the end face of one of the shorter sides of the fuse n5! All you have to do is give it. In this way, the exposed portion of the internal electrode may be located at any position on the side surface of the sintered body, and the position where the third external electrode connecting the fuse membrane is formed may also be the same as the first. It should be pointed out that there is no particular problem as long as the position is not conductive to the second external electrode.

That is, in contrast to the conventional example, which required the complicated work of connecting fuse wires or fuse plates one by one to multilayer capacitor chips, the structure of the present invention allows fuse films to be attached to a large number of multilayer capacitors at the same time. can do. Therefore, it becomes possible to dramatically improve the productivity of multilayer capacitors with fuses.

Furthermore, since the fuse element is not externally attached, there is no need to package it or enclose it in a case.
It can also be used as is as a chip component. However, it goes without saying that by attaching lead terminals to external electrodes, it is also possible to create an electronic component with leads.
