Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明の技術的背景 本発明は、複合材料の形成に使用するための繊維補強樹
脂シートに関し、より詳細には連続フィラメント繊維補
強樹脂シートに関する。
連続フィラメント補強樹脂の複合シートは、製造されて
きた。一つの技術は枠上に巻き取ること等によりフィラ
メントの縦糸を製造し、それに樹脂を含浸し、熱圧プレ
スして薄い平滑なシートを形成し、枠から切り離すこと
である。幾つかのこうしたシートを次いで直交的に重ね
、再度熱圧プレスして最終的な補強された複合生成物が
形成される。こうした生成物は高い強度と剛性を有して
いる。
炭素、p−アラミド又はガラスの連続フィラメントを含
む樹脂シートを熱圧プレスすることにより深絞り三次元
成形品を製造しようとすると、問題が生じる。多くの場
合、成形品は凹凸な表面と皺を生じる。補強材としてス
テープル繊維を使用すれば上記の欠点を克服することが
できるが、強度及び剛性を大きく犠牲にすることとなる
本発明の要約 上記の欠点は、シートを物品に成形したとき、繊維が真
直ぐに延ばされ、本質的に直線的な連続繊維状をされえ
るように、各繊維長が直線的な部分及び過剰な長さの部
分を交互に有する、一方向に配列された定長繊維で補強
された樹脂マトリックスの積層された複合構造物の各層
又はシートを形成することにより克服される。繊維は、
連続フィラメントでも又はけん切された種々の長さの定
長繊維のいずれであってもよい。マトリックスは熱可塑
性又は熱硬化性樹脂であり得る。
図面による実施態様の 細な説明 第1図を参照すると、本発明のシート構造物が一方向に
配列された定長繊維14で補強された樹脂マトリックス
材料12を含むことが分る。シートlOは、シート11
のような他のシートに積み重ねられている。第2図から
最も良く分かるように、各定長繊維14は、少なくとも
一つの直線的長さ部分16と少なくとも一つの過剰長さ
部分18を有している。直線的及び過剰長さ部分は、繊
維長に沿って交互に現れる。第211!lに示された過
剰長さ部分18は、直線長さ部分16に対し相対的に上
方及び下方に伸びている突出部18a及び18bを有す
る正弦曲線的な形態をなしている。
一つの直線長さ部分に一つの過剰な長さの部分を加えて
伸長された長さは、一つの直線長さ部分16に一つの過
剰長さ部分18を加えた伸長しない長さの105ないし
約150%の範囲にあることができる。
第3図は、第1図に示されたような繊1!14の平行な
配列で補強°された一枚のシート層の平面図である。個
々のシートは一方向に積み重ねられて、三つの層が各々
単一の定長績1122.24、及び26により現されて
いる第4図に示されるような積層構造物20を形成する
。各層及びその補強繊維は積層構造物の軸方向及び横方
向の両方向において、隣接する層から離れて示されてい
る。シートは第4図に関連して記載されるように、軸方
向及び横方向に変位させるのみでなく、繊維の長手方向
が積層構造物の長手方向の軸に対して角度を持って配向
しているようにシートを積み重ねることにより、準等方
的(quat−isotropic)な組合せで配向す
ることも可能である。
側々のシートを軸方向及び横方向に変位させt;シート
(第4図にように)の積み重ねた群の準等方的な組合せ
の複合成形物は、各群における繊維の長子軸が下記の方
式で: (−45’ /90@/+45°10” 10°/+4
5@/90”/−45”) 配向されて積み重ねられ、そして積み重ねられた詳が熱
及び圧力下に一緒に成形される時に当然得られる。
本発明において使用される繊維の配列は、複合構造物補
強用の不織繊維ウェブの最終利用を開示している、米国
特許第4.715.924号に開示された種類の装置(
第3欄1l−i5行)を用いて製造することができる。
一連の試験において、成形された複合構造成形物の最高
の性質は、繊維中の総ての過剰な長さ部分が真直ぐにな
るまで実現しないことが見出された。それ故に、かよう
な複合成形品における最高の性質の実現のためには、シ
ート中の過剰繊維長部分の分布は、製品の予想される変
形の分布に適合させることが好ましい。最高の性質は、
1IAJl中の総ての過剰長さ部分が真直ぐになった時
に発現されるが、過剰繊維長さ部分が充分に伸びていな
い時でも、成形された成形物の場合、高度な強度及びモ
ジュラスが尚も達成できることを理解すべきである。
本発明の主なる特徴及び態様は以下の通りである。
1、一方向に配列された定長繊維で補強された樹脂マト
リックスのシートから成り、該定長繊維の各々が直線的
な部分及び過剰長さの部分を交互に有する、成形物を形
成するための複合構造物。
2、該定長繊維が連続したフィラメントから形成されて
いる、上記lに記載の複合構造物。
3、該定長繊維がけん切されたフィラメントのスライバ
ーから形成されている、上記lに記載の複合構造物。
4、該過剰長さの部分の形状が正弦白線的である、上記
1.2又は3に記載の複合構造物。
5、該過剰長さの部分の形状がジグザグである、上記1
,2又は3に記載の複合構造物。
6、該繊維がガラスである、上記lに記載の複合構造物
7、該繊維がp−アラミドである、上記lに記載の積層
複合構造物。
8、該繊維が炭素である、上記lに記載の複合構造物。
9、該樹脂が熱可塑性である、上記lに記載の複合構造
物。
lO0該シートの多数が相互に積み重ねられて積層構造
物を形成している、上記lに記載の複合構造物。
11、シートの群の中の隣接するシートが積層構造物の
長手軸に関して互いに横方向に且つ軸方向に変位してい
る、上記10に記載の複合構造物。
12、多数の該群が各群の繊維の長手軸に関して準等方
的な関係にあって該積層構造物を形成している、上記1

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 1、一方向に配列された定長繊維で補強された樹脂マト
    リックスのシートから成り、該定長繊維の各々が直線的
    な部分及び過剰長さの部分を交互に有する、成形物を形
    成するための複合構造物。
