It is fixed to the tip of a letter-shaped leaf spring 17 and is stretched. Further, a back plate 18 is hermetically fixed to the vacuum envelope 7 so as to be in contact with the back electrode 4. After assembling as shown in FIG. 8, when the inside of the vacuum envelope 7 is evacuated, the back plate 18, the insulating spacers 9 and 10, and the electron beam are moved along the shape of the insulating holder 15 as shown in FIG. Extraction electrode 5, insulating spacers 11 and 12, control electrodes 13 and 1
4 transforms. With this deformation, the cathode 1 has a guiding fiber 8 sandwiched between two insulating spacers 9 and 10.
The electrode 4 is stretched between the back electrode 4 and the electron beam extraction electrode 5 with a predetermined distance therebetween. Thereafter, in order to vent the gas inside the vacuum envelope 7, a baking process is performed in which the entire vacuum envelope 7 is heated to about 300° C. while the inside of the vacuum envelope 7 is kept evacuated. After this, the cathode I is activated and aged to complete the display device.

Usually, a metal plate has a larger thermal expansion coefficient than a glass-based material, and when a non-magnetic metal material is used, the difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the metal plate and the glass-based material is about 100 to 150×10 −7 . Therefore, when the inside of the vacuum envelope 7 is evacuated in the baking process, atmospheric pressure acts on the electrodes inside the vacuum envelope 7, and when heated in the baking process in that state, the insulating spacers 9, 10, 11, and 12 In contrast, the electrode plates 5.13 and 14 formed of metal plates try to expand further, but the electrode plates 5.13 and 14 formed of metal plates are connected to the insulating spacers 9.10.11 and 12. The friction between the two creates a force that prevents expansion. For this reason,
The electrode plates 5.13 and 14 are deformed and many minute wrinkles occur. When wrinkles occur, the electron beam passing holes formed in the electrode plate become tilted or the spacing between the electron beam passing holes becomes irregular, which changes the trajectory of the electron beam, making it impossible to obtain high-quality images. was occurring.

Since the electrode plate is pressed with a force smaller than atmospheric pressure and uniform in the longitudinal direction of the cathode, the electrode plate will not be deformed or wrinkled during the baking process, resulting in a display that displays a good image. You can get the equipment. Furthermore, in the present invention, there is no problem even if there is a difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the electrode materials placed inside the vacuum envelope, so it is possible to use a non-magnetic metal material that has a large difference in thermal expansion coefficient from a glass-based material. This makes it possible to eliminate landing defects of electron beams due to magnetization, and to obtain a display device that displays stable and good images.
