Various contact materials have been proposed to retain microorganisms for purifying wastewater.
Each had their own particular drawbacks. For example, a contact material having a structure in which a large number of wire members are intertwined has a large volume occupied by the contact material itself and is easily clogged by adherent microorganisms, making it difficult to effectively treat the contact material. In addition, many tubular contact materials have a drawback in that they hold only a small amount of SS, and when the flow rate drops below a certain level, the flow of wastewater becomes laminar, resulting in a significant drop in contact efficiency. Furthermore, in the case where a large number of small cylindrical contact materials are filled, there is a drawback that dead areas are likely to occur due to blockage. Moreover, all of the conventional contact materials as described above are expensive.

An embodiment of this invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 shows one of the substantially rectangular plates 1 constituting the contact material block according to an embodiment of the invention. a large number of roughly shaped first boss portions 2A (shown by solid lines in the figure);
A large number of substantially-shaped second boss portions 2B (indicated by broken lines in the figure) are provided so as to protrude in the vertical direction from the other surface 1B. The first boss portion 2A is formed on the plate material 1 so as to form a zigzag space.
The first boss portions 2A are arranged at regular intervals along a plurality of horizontal rows parallel to the upper and lower edges of the The boss portion 2A is arranged so as not to overlap with the boss portion 2A in the vertical direction. Further, the second boss portion 2B is located in the same arrangement as the first boss portion 2A to form a zigzag space, and is located adjacent to the first boss portion 2A. That is, in each row, the first boss portions 2A and the second boss portions 2B are arranged alternately. As shown enlarged in FIGS. 2 and 3, the first boss portion 2A includes a first portion 21 having a predetermined height extending in a direction parallel to the column to which it belongs, and a first portion 21 having a predetermined height. The second portion 22 extends from one end of the portion 21 (the right end in the figure) in a direction substantially perpendicular thereto (upward in the figure), and is formed in a substantially shape. The tip of this protrusion is preferably located at the surface 1.
Form a flat surface along a plane parallel to A. Further, the opposing side surfaces of the first portion 21 are inclined in a direction toward each other toward the tip. On the other hand, the second boss portion 2B has substantially the same shape as the first portion 21, but differs only in its orientation. That is, a first portion 23 of a predetermined height extends in a direction parallel to the column direction, and a first portion 23 extends from one end of this first portion 23 (left end in the figure) in a direction substantially perpendicular thereto (downward in the figure). When viewed from the other surface 1B side of the plate material 3, it forms a protrusion in the shape of an upside-down L-shape. The contact material block of this invention is constructed by stacking a plurality of plate materials 3 in parallel, each having a structure as shown in FIGS. 1 to 3. As shown in FIG. 3, in this overlapping, the tip of one boss portion 2A of one plate material 3 is connected to the boss portion 2B of the adjacent plate material 3.
This is done by arranging them so that they match the tips of the two and adhering them to each other at their joint surfaces. Part 21,
If the upper sides of 23 are sloped, they both form a V-shaped plane, which forms a sludge basin that holds solids in the wastewater. Next, the operation of this invention will be explained. A contact material block constructed by combining a plurality of plate materials 3 as shown in FIG. 3 is used, for example, while being immersed in sewage in an anaerobic treatment tank. Since the upper surfaces of the first portions 21, 23 of the boss portions 2A and 2B are substantially horizontal, the SS in the waste water is stably held on these surfaces, and the efficiency of contact with the waste water is very high. Further, since the second portion extends substantially vertically, short passes of waste water can be effectively prevented, and a peak cutting effect can be obtained. In addition, even if solids that try to float due to the buoyancy of the gas generated during anaerobic treatment pass between two adjacent bosses and rise, the boss located above the The lower surface of the first portion prevents the gas from rising, and only the gas separates from the solids and rises, while the remaining solids lose their buoyancy and descend. This improves gas separation efficiency and makes it easier to maintain anaerobic conditions. Furthermore, the first and second boss portions 2A, 2B
Since it is formed into an approximately shape, it is possible to secure a large amount of sludge to be held, and the contact efficiency of sewage is good, and furthermore, it has sufficient rigidity against external force. Note that the shapes of the boss portions 2A and 2B may be as shown in FIG. 4. In this example, the first portions 21, 23 and the second portions 22, 24 of each boss portion 2A and 2B have a tapered shape such that the width becomes narrower as the distance from the surface of the plate material 3 increases.

As described above, according to this invention, a contact material block is constructed by joining a plurality of plates having a large number of bosses protruding from both sides in such a way that the bosses abut each other. It is suitable as a contact material for anaerobic filter beds because it has high contact efficiency with water, holds a large amount of sludge, and does not cause wastewater to pass through. In addition, it has sufficient rigidity as a contact material and can be manufactured at low cost.
It has the advantage of being easy to clean.
