As shown in Publication No. 338, it is possible to select between full-cylinder operation, in which fuel is supplied to all cylinders, and reduced-cylinder operation, in which fuel supply to some cylinders is cut off, depending on the operating state of the engine. Engines with controlled number of cylinders are being developed. This cylinder number control engine supplies fuel to all cylinders and outputs output from all cylinders when the load is high, such as when starting or driving at high speed, and when the load is low, such as when driving at a constant speed or on a steady road. Sometimes, this is done to save fuel by cutting fuel supply to some cylinders and increasing the charging efficiency to other cylinders, and it becomes possible to supply fuel to all cylinders depending on the engine operating status. It determines whether full-cylinder operation is to be performed or reduced-cylinder operation in which fuel supply to some cylinders is cut off and fuel supply to the remaining cylinders is enabled, and outputs a cylinder reduction command. A cylinder that controls the number of cylinders to be operated by cutting off fuel supply to the cylinder to be reduced based on the cylinder operation/reduced cylinder operation determination means and the cylinder reduction command from the all cylinder operation/reduced cylinder operation determination means. and a number control means.

る不具合を生じる。 By the way, if we pay attention to the case where the engine is not in an acceleration state but in a deceleration state, when the engine is in a deceleration state, the fuel consumption may be less than the fuel consumption when it is in an acceleration state; A method disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 7021/1983 is known as a method for sometimes stopping the fuel supply to each cylinder of the engine (fuel cut) or reducing the amount of fuel. Although the technique disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 54-7021 was not directly intended for an engine with a controlled number of cylinders, if it is applied to an engine with a controlled number of cylinders, the following problems will occur.

不具合がある。 In other words, in a cylinder number controlled engine, when moving from deceleration to acceleration, the cylinder reduction operation is switched to the full cylinder operation, and the cylinder reduction operation is synchronized with the release of fuel cut (fuel return). In addition to the torque increase due to the increase in fuel supply, the torque increase caused by switching from reduced cylinder operation to full cylinder operation will be added, and an acceleration shock will occur due to a large change in torque, resulting in a smooth There is a problem with not being able to feel a sense of acceleration.

This prevents the torque increase due to fuel return and the torque increase due to switching from reduced-cylinder operation to full-cylinder operation from being applied at the same time.

がなされるものである。 The control unit 25 first determines whether the cooling water temperature is equal to or higher than a predetermined value T0 (step 36). Here, the first condition for reduced cylinder operation is that the cooling water temperature be at a high temperature of 60°C or higher. When the first condition for reduced-cylinder operation is satisfied, it is determined whether the engine speed is below a predetermined value N0 (step 37). Here, the engine speed is
Low speed below 2000rpm is the second reason for cylinder reduction operation.
It has become a condition. When the second condition for cylinder reduction operation is satisfied, it is determined whether or not the engine is in an acceleration state (step 38). The determination as to whether or not the engine is in the acceleration state is made based on the amount of change in the throttle opening in the valve opening direction per unit time, and the throttle valve opening detection sensor 29 detects when the engine is in the acceleration state. It functions as an acceleration detection means to detect whether or not there is a
The third condition for reduced cylinder operation is to be in a steady/decelerated state rather than an accelerated state. When the third condition for cylinder reduction operation is satisfied, it is determined whether the cylinder number flag is "0" or "1" (step 39). The fourth condition for cylinder reduction operation is that this cylinder number flag is "0". When the fourth condition for cylinder reduction operation is satisfied, the intake negative pressure of the second cylinder reaches a predetermined value P 2
A determination is made as to whether or not this is the case (step 40). Here, the determination of the intake negative pressure of the No. 2 cylinder is done in order to update the numerical value of the cylinder number flag from "0" to "1" and issue a command to change cylinder reduction operation/full cylinder operation. Yes, second
The fifth condition for cylinder reduction operation is that the intake negative pressure of the numbered cylinder is less than or equal to a predetermined value P2 . In addition, the code
P 2 means the intake negative pressure of the second cylinder. here,
The fact that the intake negative pressure of the second cylinder is below the predetermined value P 2 corresponds to low engine load, and when the fifth condition for cylinder reduction operation is satisfied, the number of cylinders flag is set to "0". After that, the cylinder reduction operation output command is processed (step 43).
is to be done.

This fuel injection amount is made different between during reduced-cylinder operation and during full-cylinder operation. That is, the control unit 25 is programmed with a reduced-cylinder MAP for determining the fuel injection amount during reduced-cylinder operation and an all-cylinder MAP for determining the fuel injection amount during full-cylinder operation. Here, control unit 2

The correction coefficient T 2 during reduced-cylinder operation is set to be larger than the correction coefficient T 4 during all-cylinder operation so that the correction of the fuel injection amount during all-cylinder operation is greater than that during all-cylinder operation (see Figure 4). . Here, the correction coefficient T 2 means an intake temperature correction coefficient during two-cylinder operation, and the correction coefficient T 4 means an intake temperature correction coefficient during four-cylinder operation.

のである。 The reason for different correction coefficients is that during cylinder reduction operation, the amount of fuel is smaller than during full cylinder operation, and the drop in intake air temperature is smaller.
This was done because the intake air temperature is easily warmed up due to the long time it stays in the air, and the intake air temperature correction process is performed based on the output from the air intake air temperature sensor 33. Step 44 is performed during cylinder reduction operation. In the fuel injection amount determination process, step 45 shows an intake temperature correction process in which the fuel injection amount is corrected in accordance with the intake air temperature.

Injection output processing (step 56) is performed, and the injection pulse is output to the fuel injection valve 7. Here, the relationship between the throttle opening, engine speed, and injection pulse is determined based on FIG. To explain, when the throttle opening decreases and the engine decelerates, the engine speed decreases with a slight delay in the throttle opening change, and if the fuel supply remains cut off, the engine speed becomes too low. There is a risk that the engine will stop. Therefore, here, the engine speed is set to a predetermined value Ne (N 0
>Ne) or less, the fuel supply is cut off and a determination process (step 53) is performed to determine whether the engine speed is less than or equal to a predetermined value Ne so that fuel can be restored. It has become a thing. The control unit 25 repeats the fuel supply cut process when the engine speed is above a predetermined value Ne, and in this state, no injection pulse is output as shown in FIG.

The control unit 25 first performs a deceleration determination flag determination process (step 57). When the deceleration determination flag is "1", fuel supply cut-off processing (step 58) is performed, followed by timer set processing (step 59), and timer set-off determination processing (step 60). It has become a thing. Here, the fuel reduction means is for returning fuel together with the fuel supply cut release process, and the timer setting process (step 59) functions as a delay means for delaying the switch from reduced cylinder operation to full cylinder operation. It has become a thing. That is,
For a predetermined period of time after the fuel is restored, the control unit 25 is in a state where this interrupt is applied, and the process shown in FIG. 3 is not performed, and until the timer is turned off, the cylinder number flag is set to " The timer is not updated from "0" to "1" and the switching from reduced-cylinder operation to full-cylinder operation is delayed, and when the timer turns off, the timer returns to the interrupted position, as shown in Figure 3. The processing flow shown in FIG. 6 is to be executed again, and the interrupt flow shown in FIG. It functions as an acceleration switching delay means for switching to cylinder operation.

Since "0" is updated to "1" by 0 and 51, the process of step 52 is performed.
According to this embodiment, the fuel supply cut process is performed when the engine is decelerated even during full-cylinder operation. At this time, when transitioning from deceleration to acceleration, the transition will be made to the interrupt process shown in FIG. 6, but since the transition is from deceleration to acceleration in an all-cylinder operation mode, significant acceleration is prevented.

When the cylinder number flag is changed to "0", cylinder reduction operation is started. When a deceleration state occurs during this cylinder reduction operation, deceleration determination processing is performed in step 50, and the deceleration determination flag is updated from "0" to "1". Then, the process of step 52 is carried out, and the amount of fuel is reduced (herein, "reduction" includes cutting). When the vehicle is in a deceleration state, steps 52 and 53 are continued. In step 53, when the rotational speed becomes less than a predetermined value Ne, a fuel supply cut-off process is performed, and if the engine is in reduced-cylinder operation, and
This process flow is repeated during deceleration.

The processing flow shown in FIG. 3 is interrupted by the processing flow shown in FIG. Then, in step 57, it is determined whether the deceleration determination flag is "1" or "0". When the vehicle is in a deceleration state, the deceleration determination flag is "1", so the fuel supply cut is canceled in step 58 and the fuel is restored. That is, the control unit 25 is in a state where it can output the injection pulse again. Thereafter, a timer is set in step 59, and recovery is delayed until the timer is turned off in step 60. When the timer is turned off, it returns to the position where it was interrupted, and then the processing flow shown in FIG. 3 is executed, and an acceleration determination process is performed in step 38. After that, in step 46, the cylinder number flag is set to "0".
When the flag is updated from "1" to "1", a switching command from reduced-cylinder operation to full-cylinder operation is output in step 47. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 5, the reduced cylinder operation is switched to the full cylinder operation after a predetermined time delay from the injection pulse output.

Alternatively, the supply of air-fuel mixture to the cylinder to be stopped may be cut off. Furthermore, in the case where each cylinder is provided with a fuel supply device such as a fuel injection valve individually, the fuel supply from the fuel injection valve to the cylinder to be stopped may be cut off. Often, in this case, intake air may be supplied to the cylinder to be deactivated, or it may be possible to supply no intake air at all. However, it is preferable to also cut off the intake air supply to the cylinders to be deactivated in order to reduce so-called pumping loss and further improve fuel efficiency.
