。This is because the reading section only has a reading density that does not interfere with normal reading, and to prevent the resolution from decreasing when enlarged, use a reading section with a high reading density. There is a need. However, reading for the purpose of enlarging is not performed very often, and replacing the reading unit with one with a higher reading density just for that purpose may result in unnecessary cost increase, which is not preferable.

Equipped with four reading modes depending on the type of document.
First, in mode 1, a normal opaque original is irradiated with light and an image is read using the reflected light. Mode 2 is a mode related to the main part of the present invention, and like mode 1, it reads an opaque original, but it reads at a higher density than mode 1, so when the read image is enlarged, This also prevents the image resolution from decreasing. Mode 3 is for reading a relatively large transparent original, such as a transparent sheet for 0IIP, and its reading density is equivalent to mode 1. Mode 4 is
By using the method of reading an opaque original in mode 2 at high density, a small transparent original, that is, a photographic film, is read at high density.

The reading head 7 has an opening formed in the center of its upper surface over the entire length in the depth direction, and a glass plate 74 is sealed in the opening. low density reading section 8,
Furthermore, a high-density reading section 9 used in modes 2 and 4 is provided respectively, and is made of, for example, an aperture-type fluorescent lamp located near the glass plate 74 with its axial length direction being the depth direction of the reading head 7. A light source 70 is arranged. The light source 7
0 has a length substantially equal to the length in the depth direction of the original platen glass 2, and is mounted so as to face the lower surface of the original platen glass 2 through a glass plate 74, as shown in FIG. 6, which will be described later. It can be rotated in the circumferential direction by a drive mechanism.

A high-density reading section 9 is arranged in the main scanning direction of No. 2, and the high-density reading section 9 is composed of a reading lens 91 and a solid-state image sensor 92. Similarly, the incident side of the reading lens 91 is connected to a glass plate. 74, and a solid-state image pickup device 92 is placed oppositely below the emission side. Reading lens 91
For example, a convergent rod lens is used, and this is because solid-state imaging devices for high-density reading have lower sensitivity than those for low-density reading. /N ratio. The high-density reading unit 9 is a rectangular box-shaped high-density reading unit 90 whose one end is inserted through a shaft 73 that is disposed parallel to the axial direction of the light source 70 over the entire length of the reading head 7 in the depth direction. It is equipped inside,
The high-density reading unit 90 is provided with a roller 93 on the side surface opposite to the insertion portion of the shaft 73 so that its rotation axis is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the shaft 73, and is provided in the reading head 7. The pulleys 71a and 71b driven by a stepping motor 72 and a wire 75 stretched between them are configured to move in the longitudinal direction of the shaft 73, that is, in the depth direction of the reading head 7, and to position it.

The rack teeth of the light source 70 are meshed with the teeth 76 formed on a part of the peripheral surface of the light source 70, and the aperture 0a of the light source 70 is moved in the direction of the position A when the rack 77 is protruded, and when it is retracted. In this case, the irradiation direction can be switched to either of the two directions A and B.

Furthermore, by driving the motor 13,
By moving the reading head 7 in the width direction of the reading device main body 1, sub-scanning of the original image is performed. Here, the image reading density by the low-density reading section 8 is 10 to 20 pixels/pixel.

is moved to a desired position of the opaque original on the original table glass 2 in the main scanning direction. The aperture 0a of the light source 70 is oriented so as to project light to the position B, and similarly, by irradiating the light from the light source 70, an image at the position B is formed by the reading lens 91 onto the solid-state image sensor 92. The image is imaged to perform main scanning, and the motor 13 is driven to perform sub-scanning. The image reading density by this high-density reading section 9 is 50 to 200 pixels/III,
When compared with the low-density reading section 8, the resolution does not decrease even if the read image is enlarged.

A Fresnel lens 13 and a transmission diffusion plate 14 are arranged in a laminated manner at the bottom.
The lower surface side of the document is placed opposite to a transparent original (not shown) placed on the original platen glass 2. The transmission diffuser plate 14 is provided to alleviate illumination unevenness such as an annular shadow of the Fresnel lens 13. Reading of the transparent original is performed by the low-density reading section 8 in the same manner as in mode I.

It moves in the main scanning direction to set it to the reading start position. When this is finished, if the light source 70 of the reading head 7 is lit,
After turning off the light, the light source 61 of the light box 6 is turned on to illuminate the image, and the high-density reading section 9 starts reading the transmitted light image.

It is also possible to configure the sensor to be mounted, for example, on the front portion of the upper surface of the reading device so as to match the sub-scanning direction. In this embodiment, an aperture-type fluorescent lamp is used as the light source when reading a reflective original, but instead of this, a structure may be used in which the direction of the reflective shade of a halogen lamp is changed, and a reflective original can be read at a high density. If the illuminance of the light source is insufficient for reading, an auxiliary light source may be provided. Further, in this embodiment, a convergent rod lens is used in the high-density reading section, but if the amount of light is sufficient, a through lens may be used to configure the zoom optical system.

In addition, in this embodiment, the number of slide mounts that can be held in parallel on the film holder is two, but it goes without saying that a structure that can hold two or more sheets may also be used.

When reading a document for the purpose of enlarging it, a separately provided high-density reading section is used. As a result, when an image read by the high-density reading section is enlarged, the resolution does not decrease, and a high-resolution read image can be obtained. In addition, the high-density reading section has a reading width in the main scanning direction that is smaller than that of the low-density reading section in order to reduce the cost of reading equipment such as solid-state image sensors and signal processing circuits. Instead, by configuring the high-density reading section so that it can move in the main scanning direction of the document table, it is possible to read the desired position of the image, and of course this can be used to divide the entire image. It is possible to obtain large-sized copies by enlarging the images and reading them, and similarly obtain clear images with high resolution. Furthermore, the high-density reading section can be installed in the same reading head along with the existing low-density reading section, which allows the drive system required for sub-scanning to be shared, minimizing the increase in parts. , it is possible to suppress cost increases. In addition, the high-density reading section can read small transparent originals such as photographic film with high density by using a small light box, etc. As a result, conventionally, film images can be read using a projector etc. The present invention is advantageous in that it is no longer necessary to secure a large space for the optical path for enlarging and projecting the film, and reading with high resolution can be easily performed even in a limited space. It has a great effect.
