Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the collision and breakage of vehicle and a traveling frame by suspending the relative movement and the operation of a rotary brush when it is judged by a detector that a vehicle and a traveling frame equipped with the rotary brush are in the relative position relation which is improper for car washing. CONSTITUTION:A car washer is equipped with an upper surface rotary brush 4 and a pair of side surface rotary brushes 5 which are arranged on a gate-shaped traveling frame 1 which travels in reciprocation on a traveling rail 2 on the ground and equipped with a drying device including a pair of side surface blower nozzles 21. A reflection type supersonic wave detector 50 consisting of a transmission part 52 and a receiving part 53 is installed in the upper part in front of the traveling frame 1, and the distance from the detector 50 to the car body surface is calculated by the difference of receiving time between the supersonic wave supplied from the transmission part 52 and the reflection supersonic wave supplied form the receiving part. When a vehicle V having a ground clearance of H3 or more intrudes into the traveling frame 1, and it is judged that the both V and 1 are in the improper relative position relation for car washing, the operations of the traveling frame 1 and the rotary brushes 3 and 4 are suspended.

At the front upper part of the gate-shaped traveling frame l, there is a transmitting section 52 that receives pulsed ultrasonic waves transmitted from a transmitting circuit 51 and emits them toward the upper surface of the vehicle body, and a transmitting section 52 that receives reflected waves from the vehicle body surface. A receiving section 53 is provided close to each other, and the reflected ultrasound received by the receiving section 53 is sent to a receiving circuit 54.
Then, it is determined whether the reflected ultrasonic wave was emitted from the transmitter 52 or not, and if it is the ultrasonic wave emitted from the transmitter 52, it is sent to the arithmetic circuit 55. Arithmetic circuit 55
When the transmitting circuit 51 transmits an ultrasonic wave, the ultrasonic wave is received at the same time, and due to the difference in reception time between the ultrasonic wave from the transmitting circuit 51 and the reflected ultrasonic wave from the receiving circuit 54, the ultrasonic wave is transmitted from the transmitting section 52 or the receiving section 53 to the vehicle body. The distance to a reflector such as a surface is calculated, and voltage signals that increase in proportion to the distance are sent to the first to third comparison circuits 56, 57, and 58. The transmitter 52, the receiver 53, the transmitter circuit 51, the receiver circuit 54, and the arithmetic circuit 55 cooperate with each other to configure the reflection-type ultrasonic detection device 50.

Each of the comparison circuits 56, 57, and 58 is connected to the ultrasonic detection device 5.
The voltage signal output from the arithmetic circuit 55 of 0 is compared with a plurality of reference voltages corresponding to predetermined distances, and when the voltage signal is less than the reference voltage, an output signal is sent to a car wash control circuit 59 to be described later. For example, the first comparator circuit 56 sends the voltage signal from the arithmetic circuit 55 at a certain low height from the ground (the first 3 reherto)
The second comparison circuit 57 generates an output signal when the voltage signal from the arithmetic circuit 55 is smaller than the first reference voltage E corresponding to Second reference voltage E corresponding to high (second level H,)
2 or less, an output signal is generated, and the third comparison circuit 58
, the voltage signal from the arithmetic circuit 55 corresponds to the maximum vehicle height of a relatively high vehicle such as a pan-type vehicle (third level (3)).
The third reference voltage E corresponding to the third reference voltage E is configured to generate the following horn signals. The detection device A outputs an output signal from the first comparison circuit 56 when a vehicle, such as an ordinary passenger car, whose vehicle height is greater than H3 and smaller than Ht enters the gate-shaped traveling frame 1. When a vehicle such as a pan-shaped vehicle whose vehicle height is thicker than H2 or smaller than H2 enters the concave traveling frame 1, the first
.. Simultaneously output signals from the second comparison circuits 56 and 57,
Furthermore, when a vehicle with a vehicle height exceeding H3 enters the concave traveling frame 1 and it is determined that the vehicle and the frame 1 are in a relative positional relationship inappropriate for car washing, the first, second . The third comparison circuits 56, 57, and 58 are all configured to simultaneously issue output signals.

As shown in FIG. 4, the transmitter 52 of the ultrasonic detection device 50
Since the receiving part 53 is formed in a conical shape, when washing the car, washing water is scattered by the rotation of the top and side rotating brushes 4.5.5 and adheres to the inner surfaces of the conical transmitting part 52 and the receiving part 53. However, there is a habit that the ultrasonic waves emitted from the transmitting section 52 directly enter the receiving section 53, causing malfunction.
In addition, weak ultrasonic waves called side lobes are generated along the conical side wall of the transmitter 52, but the propagation direction and intensity of these side lobes change depending on the temperature, density, etc. of the atmosphere, so it depends on the atmospheric conditions. In this case, the receiving section 53 may receive a reflected wave from an object located laterally instead of a reflected wave from a reflector directly below it, causing a malfunction.

Therefore, at the tips of the transmitting section 52 and the receiving section 53, there is a
Synthetic resin shielding tubes 52a and 53a extending linearly and thinly along the line and having open bottom ends are integrally connected to each other, and these shielding tubes 52a and 53a prevent splashes of washing water and the like during car washing. In addition to effectively preventing the ultrasonic waves from entering the receiving sections 52 and 53, the side lobes of the ultrasonic waves described above can be shielded. If a constant gap 50s is set between the lower ends of the openings of the shielding bearing tubes 52a and 53a as shown in the illustrated example, and a discontinuous portion is formed between the lower ends of the openings, the shielding of the side lobe can be prevented. The effect can be obtained even more reliably.

When the reflection-type ultrasonic detection device 50 reaches directly above the front end of the vehicle (2) due to the advancement of the concave traveling frame 1, the reflection-type ultrasonic detection device 50 detects this and activates a timer (not shown) for a certain period of time. After the elapsed time, when the water-based wax injection pipe 37 and the rinsing water injection pipe 31 reach the front of the vehicle body, the solenoid valves 33 and 41 are opened by the timer, and the water-based wax is sprayed from the nozzle 38 of the water-based wax injection pipe 37 onto the vehicle body surface. After spraying clean water onto the car surface from the nozzle 32 of the rinse water injection pipe 31 to wash away excess wax liquid, when the reflective ultrasonic detection device 50 passes directly above the rear end of the car body. The reflection type ultrasonic detection device 50 detects this and activates a timer (not shown), which closes the solenoid valve 33.41 when the water-based wax injection pipe 39 and the rinsing water injection pipe 31 pass the rear of the vehicle body. The valve is turned on to stop the injection of aqueous wax and rinsing water, and at the same time, the operation of a traveling prime mover (not shown) is stopped to stop the gate-shaped traveling frame 1 from moving back and forth. Then, when the drying process begins and the gate-shaped traveling frame 1 starts going back, if the reflective ultrasonic detection device 50 detects that the vehicle height is higher than the second level H2 during the going out, The upper surface blower nozzle 22 is held at the upper limit position, and if it is detected that the vehicle height is between the second level H2 and the second level H2, the upper surface blower nozzle 22 is moved by the extension operation of the lifting cylinder 27. is lowered and raised and lowered along the top surface of the vehicle body. When the reflective ultrasonic detection bag ff50 detects the rear end of the vehicle body due to the return movement of the gate-type traveling frame l, the blower 23 is driven and pressurized air is sent from the top blow nozzle 22 and the side blow nozzles 21, 21 to the top surface of the car body and It is sprayed onto the sides and efficiently dries these surfaces. When the gate-shaped traveling frame 1 moves away from the front end of the vehicle (2) during a go-around, both the blower 23 and the traveling prime mover (not shown) are deactivated based on the detection by the reflection type ultrasonic detection device 50. The air blowing from the upper and side air blowing nozzles 22.degree. 21.21 is stopped, and the traveling of the gate-shaped traveling frame 1 is also stopped, thereby completing the drying process.

C1 Effects of the invention As described above, according to the present invention, there is provided a car washing apparatus which has a frame equipped with a rotating brush capable of brushing a vehicle, and which allows the frame and the vehicle to move relative to each other in the longitudinal direction thereof. A detection device capable of detecting that the vehicle and the frame are in a relative positional relationship inappropriate for car washing, and a control means for stopping the relative movement and the operation of the rotating brush in response to a detection signal output by the detection device. Therefore, when the frame and the vehicle are moved relative to each other while operating the rotating brush to wash the vehicle, if the detection device detects that the relative positional relationship between the two is inappropriate for washing the vehicle, the detection device will respond accordingly. The above-mentioned relative interlocking and the operation of the rotating brush can be automatically stopped, and therefore, collision and damage between the vehicle and the frame etc. due to the continuation of the relative movement can be prevented. Moreover, since the rotating brush is not left in operation in the state where the relative movement is stopped, there is no risk of the rotating brush scratching a particular surface of the vehicle by excessively scratching it.
