The present invention relates to a fire-resistant gasket interposed in a seal portion of a pipe joint. If a leak occurs in the joints of steel pipes used to transport city gas, etc. when a fire breaks out, there is a risk of an even bigger accident. An object of the present invention is to provide a gasket that is interposed in a seal portion of a pipe joint and has excellent fire resistance. The refractory gasket of the present invention is made of a mixture of sodium silicate and synthetic resin. Other substances may also be included in the mixture. The chemical formula of sodium silicate is represented by Na 2 O.nSiO 2 , where n is represented by the following formula. n=(weight ratio of SiO 2 /Na 2 O)×1.032...(1) Sodium silicate with n>1 is amorphous,
By diluting it with water, it becomes starch syrup-like. According to the experiments of the present inventor, as sodium silicate with n>1, silicon dioxide SiO 2 35 to 38% by weight;
Using sodium silicate, which is composed of 17 to 19% of sodium oxide Na 2 O , 0.03% or less of iron Fe, 0.2% or less of water-insoluble matter, and the remaining amount of water H 2 O, a two-component solution is added to this sodium silicate. Epoxy resins were mixed in the weight ratios shown in Table 1 to form resilient fire-resistant materials.
The epoxy resin functions to obtain the shape retention properties of the sodium silicate, and functions to fix the sodium silicate to the inner surface of the tube as described later, and also allows the sodium silicate to absorb moisture in the atmosphere such as air. To prevent skin irritation caused by alkalinity when sodium silicate is handled by hand, and to facilitate handling. Such sodium silicate and epoxy resin
When the state of heating at 450℃ was maintained for 15 minutes, the water turned into gas, forming closed cells and foaming, and the ratio of the volume after heating to the volume before heating, that is, the foaming rate, was as shown in Table 1. .

[Table] FIG. 2 is a graph showing the relationship between the blending ratio of epoxy resin to sodium silicate and yield stress. Curve l4 represents sodium silicates with n>1 as described above in connection with Table 1, and curve l5 represents hydrous sodium silicates with n<1 as described above. It can be seen that the yield stress is improved by increasing the proportion of epoxy resin. FIG. 3 is a graph showing the relationship between the ratio of epoxy resin to sodium silicate and Young's modulus. Curve l6 is for n>1 as described above in connection with Table 1.
of sodium silicate, and curve 17 represents the above n
Indicates <1 hydrated sodium silicate. It can be seen that the Young's modulus improves as the blending ratio of the epoxy resin increases. When sodium silicate and epoxy resin are mixed in a weight ratio of 1/1 to 5/1, a high foaming rate and a large yield stress and Young's modulus can be achieved. If the weight ratio is less than 1/1, the foaming rate will be insufficient. When the weight ratio exceeds 5/1, the yield stress and Young's modulus become too small. FIG. 4 is a sectional view of one embodiment of the present invention. An annular groove 3 is formed in the flange 2 of the flange pipe joint 1. A gasket 5 made of conventional rubber or synthetic resin is fitted into the groove 3, thereby preventing fluid leakage. According to the present invention, an annular groove 4 is formed radially outward from the groove 3. A refractory gasket 6 made of a mixture of sodium silicate and synthetic resin according to the present invention is fitted into the groove 4. When a fire or the like occurs and the temperature of the pipe joint 1 becomes high, the gasket 6 foams and expands. As a result, even if the radially inner gasket 5 is burnt out,
Fluid leakage is prevented. FIG. 5 is a sectional view of another embodiment of the invention.
In a so-called mechanical pipe joint 8, an inclined surface 10 with an inner narrowing formed at the end of a metal pipe 9;
An elastic gasket 12 made of rubber or the like is interposed between the other metal tube 11 and the outer peripheral surface thereof. The gasket 12 is tightened by a tightening ring 14 which is threaded onto the end of the tube 9 through a retainer 13 to achieve airtightness. According to the invention, an annular gasket 15 made of a mixture of sodium silicate and synthetic resin is interposed in an annular recess 16 between retainer 13 and clamping ring 14. When a fire or the like occurs and the temperature becomes high, the gasket 15 expands by foaming between the recess 16 of the tightening ring 14 and the outer peripheral surface of the tube 11, thereby achieving airtightness. This prevents the fluid flowing through the tubes 9, 11 from being discharged to the outside. FIG. 6 is a sectional view of a union joint according to another embodiment of the present invention. Connection parts 22 and 23 are screwed into the steel pipes 20 and 21 to be connected. These connecting parts 22 and 23 are connected by a cap nut 24. A conventional gasket 25 is interposed between the end faces of the connecting parts 22 and 23. gasket 25
is made of an elastic material such as rubber.
The annular gasket 26 made of a mixture of sodium silicate and synthetic resin according to the present invention is connected to the inner circumferential surface of the cap nut 24 and the connecting portion 2 facing the inner circumferential surface.
It is interposed between the outer circumferential surface of No.3. This connection part 23
A holding portion 27 protrudes in a ring shape toward the connecting portion 22 from the end face thereof, and holds the gasket 26. When a fire or the like occurs and the temperature becomes high, the gasket 26 expands between the cap nut 24 and the connecting portion 23 by foaming, thereby achieving airtightness. FIG. 7 is a sectional view of another embodiment of the invention. In this caulking joint, the pipe 2 to be connected
An elastic gasket 31 made of conventional rubber or the like is interposed in the annular groove 30 of 8 and 29. In another annular groove 32, an annular gasket 33 made of a mixture of sodium silicate and synthetic resin according to the invention is interposed. FIG. 8 is a sectional view of a threaded joint according to still another embodiment of the present invention. Pipes 34, 35 to be connected
are connected by a tapered thread 36, and a mixture of sodium silicate and synthetic resin according to the present invention is applied between the annular groove 37 formed at the end of this threaded joint and the outer peripheral surface of the pipe 34. An annular gasket 38 is interposed therebetween. FIG. 9 is a sectional view of another embodiment of the invention. The pipes 39 and 40 to be connected are screwed together by a tapered screw 41, and a mixture 42 of sodium silicate and synthetic resin according to the present invention is interposed in the threaded portion. This achieves airtightness without foaming at low temperatures. Further, at high temperatures, the mixture 42 foams to ensure airtightness. FIG. 10 is a sectional view of a braze joint according to still another embodiment of the present invention. Pipes 43, 4 to be connected
4 are connected by braze 45. An annular gasket 47 made of a mixture of sodium silicate and synthetic resin according to the present invention is interposed between the groove 46 of the brazed joint and the outer peripheral surface of the tube 43. Even if the wax 45 melts due to high temperature due to a fire or the like, the gasket 47 expanded by foaming prevents gas from leaking. The gasket made of refractory material according to the invention comprises:
Furthermore, it may be used in connection with other pipe fittings. As described above, according to the present invention, a gasket made of a mixture of sodium silicate and synthetic resin is interposed in the sealing part of the pipe joint, so that the elasticity of the gasket ensures airtightness at room temperature. Furthermore, at high temperatures such as in the event of a fire, the moisture in the gasket turns into gas, forming closed cells, foaming, and expanding, so fluid leakage is reliably suppressed.
