本考案は自動車用前照灯、特に車の走行中の空
気抵抗の縮減に効果あり、かつ異種機能を有する
異つた灯具を車体の側方および上面部に一体的に
配置したコンビネーシヨン型の前照灯に関する。 最近の自動車は小型軽量化という市場の要求に
応えると同時に、いかに少ないエネルギーで速く
走行できるかという問題が採り上げられ、その対
策の一環として車体の空気抵抗の縮減が進められ
ている。たとえば前照灯を使用しないとき灯具を
車体内部に収納して空気抵抗を少なくするリトラ
タブル式灯具を装備した自動車があるが、前照灯
を使用するときは灯具が車体外面に突出するので
空気抵抗の影響を避けることはできない。しかも
このリトラタブル式灯具は走行中のパツシングビ
ームを投射することができない欠点がある。 自動車に装着される前照灯は、オールグラスシ
ールドビームランプの丸型灯具から角型のものへ
さらにセミシールドビームランプの長方形状灯具
へと移行してきた。また前照灯に車幅灯、コーナ
リングランプ、方向指示灯等の複数個のランプを
一体的に組込んだ複合機能を有する灯具が逐次採
用される傾向にある。これ等の灯具に取付けるレ
ンズ部材も、簡単な平板状のレンズから前面部の
一端が側後方へ曲成した側面部を有するレンズな
ど複雑な形状のものへと転換している。しかしこ
れ等のレンズ部材は車体形状への適合性よりも灯
具自体の構成に主眼がおかれ、このため走行中の
空気抵抗の影響については余り配慮されていな
い。 従来の前照灯と車幅灯や方向指示灯などを別個
の灯具で車体に装着した場合は、第1図乃至第3
図に示すように前照灯1と車幅灯2の灯具の間に
間隙W1が生じ、両灯具の上縁部と車体3との間
に間隙W2が生じる。これ等の間隙W1,W2は車
体の空気抵抗を増大させる一因となるものであ
る。このため車体の前部の一部を構成する前照灯
についても、空気抵抗をできるだけ縮減する対策
が要望されている。 自動車の走行に影響を与える空気抵抗は、車体
の形状、大きさ、走行速度によつて決定され、次

機械力学的に「くさび形」の形状が最もよいとさ
れている。従つて車体の前部に装置する前照灯も
この車体形状に合致させることが望ましい。 本考案は上記に鑑みなされたもので、車体の前
部に装着する前照灯、車幅灯、方向指示灯等の灯
具の接合部および灯具と車体との接合部を少なく
するため、これ等の灯具を一体化し、この灯具に
取付けるレンズ部材を車の前部コーナ曲面に沿つ
た形状となし車体の一部として形成することによ
り、空気抵抗を縮減した前照灯を提供しようとす
るものである。 すなわち、本考案は前面部と、この前面部から
車体の側方まで廻り込んだ側面部と、前記前面部
の上縁から該前面部より後方にスラントして伸び
る上面部とが一体に形成されたレンズ部材を灯体
4に配設した前照灯であつて、前記各面部に機能
が異なるランプを配置し、前記前面部と車体面の
一部をなす前記上面部の折曲部分は、前記ランプ
の間に介在されているとともに前記上面部のラン
