(Prior art) In a screw chip conveyor that conveys chips generated during the cutting process with a machine tool, the coolant (cutting fluid used during machining) adhering to the chips is It accumulates in its casing during transport on the screw conveyor. For this reason, the casing of the screw conveyor is equipped with a discharge device for discharging this coolant.

Since small chips and the like are floating in the coolant inside the casing, a mesh is provided in a part of the coolant discharge device, and by passing the mesh through this mesh, the floating particles are separated and the coolant is left alone. It is configured to discharge to the outside of the casing.

Specifically, as shown in FIG. 4, the coolant discharge device H is generally provided at the front of the screw conveyor where chips are collected in the conveying direction (see arrow A), and is used to remove chips from the chips that are collected there. The system was configured to separate the separated coolant from chips, etc. floating therein, and then discharge only the coolant.

(Problem to be solved by the invention) However, in the case of the coolant discharge device having the above configuration, since the coolant is directly filtered through the mesh of the discharge device, the mesh provided in the discharge device can become clogged in a short period of time. As a result, after a predetermined period of time has elapsed, coolant discharge is inhibited.
The above phenomenon was particularly noticeable when the chips were made of a light metal such as aluminum with a low specific gravity because they floated on the surface of the coolant. Therefore, whenever the coolant discharge becomes difficult, it is necessary to remove floating objects such as chips stuck in the mesh of the coolant discharge device. These frequent mesh cleanings reduce the operation of the conveyor and, in turn, the operating rate of expensive machine tools, thereby delaying the depreciation of the entire machine tool equipment (system).

The present invention was made in view of the above-mentioned current situation, and an object of the present invention is to provide a coolant discharge device for a chip conveyor that is less prone to clogging.

(Means for solving the problem) A coolant discharge device for a chip conveyor according to the present invention is a coolant discharge device that discharges coolant accumulated in a casing of a chip conveyor to the outside after removing floating matter with a mesh. A part of the conveyor is provided with a static flow tank separated from the chip transport area of the conveyor by a partition wall, and communicated with the lower end of the partition wall so that the coolant in the chip transport area is guided into the static flow tank. A discharge port is provided adjacent to the static flow tank via a weir wall, and a mesh is provided at the discharge port.

That is, the coolant separated and collected in the chip conveyance area of the chip conveyor enters the static flow tank through the communication port formed at the lower end of the partition wall, with the chips with high specific gravity suspended, and there is a weir wall between the coolant and the discharge port. Since the water overflows the upper end of the weir wall and is discharged to the outside through the outlet, the flow rate becomes extremely slow. Chips with low specific gravity float on the surface of the coolant due to the partition wall, stop at the top of the partition wall, and are conveyed to the tip of the conveyor by rotation of the conveyor screw.

Therefore, even if the discharge port is provided with a mesh for preventing chips from flowing out, the number of chips reaching this mesh is extremely small, and the mesh does not become clogged frequently as in the conventional case.

That is, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the coolant adhering to the chips 12 conveyed by the conveyor screw 11 separates from the chips during conveyance and flows along the wall of the casing or directly falls. and accumulates at the bottom of the casing. The side where the chips are conveyed as the chips are conveyed, for example, in the case of this embodiment, the chips are mainly on the left side (lower side in FIG. 2) with respect to the central axis of the conveyor screw when facing the conveyance direction. The coolant similarly flows from the right side (upper side in FIG. 2) to the base end side (tail side) of the conveyor. The coolant flowing toward the proximal end of the chip conveyance area of the conveyor is then transferred to the communication port 5 formed at the lower end of the partition wall 1, while keeping the chips with high specific gravity floating.
From there, it enters static flow tank 2. In this case, the opening area formed by the weir wall 6 and the casing wall 7 is used for flowing into the static flow tank 2 with a large volume from the communication port 5 with a narrow opening area, and for flowing out from the static flow tank 2 to the outside of the conveyor. Since this is large, the flow velocity of the coolant in the static flow tank 2 is extremely reduced.

As a result, chips floating in the coolant are
It sinks to the bottom due to the difference in specific gravity with the coolant. In addition, even at this low flow rate, chips that are still floating remain in the static flow tank 2 for a predetermined period of time.
The proportion floating near the water surface is extremely small.

As a result, the condition of chip clogging is greatly alleviated.
Incidentally, the chips accumulated at the bottom of the static flow tank 2 can be removed by removing the plug 10a of the sludge receiver 10 at an appropriate time.

On the other hand, chips with low specific gravity floating in the coolant flowing toward the proximal end of the chip conveying area of the conveyor stop at the upper part of the partition wall 1, and are conveyed again to the distal end of the conveyor by the rotation of the conveyor screw 11.

Note that in this embodiment, a coolant discharge device is provided at the base end of the conveyor, focusing on the fact that the screw conveyor has a property that the coolant flows toward the base end during operation. It may be provided at the center of the conveyor or near the tip.

(Effects of the invention) As described above, in the coolant discharge device according to the present invention, the coolant flowing out from the discharge port contains almost no chips, so the mesh at the discharge port may be unnecessary in some cases, or Even when a mesh is provided, the chip is less likely to become clogged, so the interval between mesh cleaning operations can be significantly extended.
