The present invention relates to a method for producing a hologram with improved image quality, and in particular, when producing a Lipman-Bragg type hologram using a dichromate gelatin photosensitive material, the gelatin film is hardened by irradiating the entire surface with light. In particular, it relates to a method for producing holograms with high diffraction efficiency. The so-called dichromate gelatin photosensitive material has high diffraction efficiency and high resolution reaching 3,000 lines/mm, making it excellent for use in phase-type holograms (a type of hologram that records changes in the intensity of interference fringes as changes in the phase transmittance of the medium). It is known as a recording medium, and the diffraction efficiency when the recording medium is made into a thick film (the ratio of the primary diffracted light intensity that contributes to reproduction to the reproduction light intensity is the theoretical value)
A value of 0.8 or higher, close to 1.0, is obtained. There are two methods of exposing such dichromate gelatin to form a diffraction grating for a phase type hologram. One is to dissolve the gelatin in the unexposed areas with water, and the gelatin used in this method is The gelatin used in this method is called non-hardened dichromate gelatin, and the other type creates a difference in refractive index between exposed and unexposed areas. It's called gelatin. The difference between the two types of gelatin mentioned above is due to whether an unhardened water-soluble gelatin medium or a hardened swellable gelatin medium is used, and the reaction mechanism of hardened dichromate gelatin is Although it is not fully understood yet, Cr 6+ in the exposed part is reduced to Cr 3+ , and the reaction between this and gelatin causes gelatin to crosslink and harden, resulting in gelatin formation as a result of rapid dehydration after washing with water. It is thought that the tension in the gelatin causes cracks in the unexposed areas, and a phase hologram is formed due to the difference in refractive index between air and gelatin. It is thought that a phase-type hologram is created by the gelatin melting out and changing the film thickness. Conventionally, as a method for obtaining hardened dichromate gelatin, hardening dichromate gelatin is obtained by including a hardening agent such as glyoxal during coating and then heating and drying.
In order to convert the unhardened dichromate gelatin into hardened dichromate gelatin, the unhardened dichromate gelatin once formed is treated with a commercially available hardening agent, such as
It is known that hardened dichromate gelatin can be obtained by treatment with a hardening agent such as Kodatsu Clavit Fixer (trade name) or a general chromium alum aqueous solution. When such hardened dichromate gelatin is used as a recording medium for holograms, it has extremely high diffraction efficiency, so it is the most excellent recording medium for white light reproduction. White light reproduction here refers to reproduction using white light illumination without using conventional laser light when reproducing images from a hologram, and the Lipman-Bragg type hologram according to the present invention is also a hologram for white light reproduction. be. As shown in Figure 1, a Lipman-Bragg type hologram is one in which the object beam 4 and the reference beam 1 are arranged at an angle of 135° to 180°, indicated by θ in Figure 1. It records interference fringes in the thickness direction of the recording medium by irradiating it from the front and back sides. During reproduction, it has wavelength selectivity for illumination light at a certain angle of incidence due to Bragg diffraction, so white light illumination is used to record the reproduced image. is obtained. In this case, in order to obtain a sufficient reconstructed image, it is said that a film thickness of 15 μm or more is required, and the key point in creating a hologram is how to harden gelatin with a thickness of 15 μm or more for use in holograms. As mentioned above, there are two ways to obtain a hardened gelatin film: a method in which a hardening agent is added to the gelatin film in advance and then heated and dried, and a method in which the gelatin film is immersed in an aqueous solution of the hardening agent. As the thickness increases, it becomes difficult to control it in the liquid, and even if there is a slight variation in the thickness of the formed film, the reproduced image will be uneven and the quality will deteriorate significantly. The present invention hardens a gelatin film by irradiating it with light without using any chemical treatment as described above, and uses the gelatin film to photograph a Lipman-Bragg hologram to obtain a high-quality reconstructed image. As a result, the present invention has been completed. The present invention will be explained below using the drawings. The aqueous gelatin solution used in the present invention is made by diluting ordinary gelatin to 5 to 20% by weight using water as a solvent, and adding a photosensitizer such as ammonium salt, potassium salt, or sodium salt of dichromic acid.
A solution containing 0.1 to 5% by weight is used. As the substrate for the hologram used in the present invention, in addition to glass, plastic films, sheets, or plates made of polyethylene terephthalate, polymethyl methacrylate, polystyrene polyvinyl chloride, etc. can be used, but substrates other than these can also be used. The gelatin aqueous solution can be applied to the hologram substrate by known methods such as dip coating, bar coating, spinner coating, continuous coating, and spray coating. Film thickness after drying is 1~
It is coated to a thickness of about 20 μm, and after coating, it is dried by natural drying to create a photosensitive material. To create a hologram using the photoreceptor produced in the above manner, use an Ar laser, split it using a half mirror according to the usual method, irradiate one side to the object to be photographed, and use it as object light to be reflected from the object. Using the other one as a reference beam, images are taken from the front and back sides of the photoreceptor while holding the object beam and the reference beam at an angle θ of 135 to 180 degrees as shown in FIG. In the present invention, the uniform exposure means after recording interference fringes on the dichromate gelatin photosensitive material is as follows:
All light sources including ultraviolet light can be used for irradiation, and such light sources include ultra-high pressure mercury lamps, high-pressure mercury lamps, low-pressure mercury lamps, metal halide lamps, fluorescent lamps, carbon arcs, xenon arcs, and the like. Example Commercially available gelatin (Nitta Gelatin Co., Ltd. Collotype)
No.1) Make a 10% aqueous solution, apply it on a glass plate using the bar coating method, dry it at room temperature for 12 hours, and then place it in a dark place in a 3% aqueous solution of ammonium dichromate (liquid temperature 15℃). The plate was immersed for 10 minutes, then briefly immersed in a surfactant solution (Konidax, manufactured by Konishiroku Photo Industry Co., Ltd.) for washing, and dried at room temperature for 2 hours to obtain a dichromate gelatin dry plate with a thickness of 20 μm. An Ar laser (wavelength 4880 Å,
The interference fringes 2 were recorded by exposure for 4 seconds using the method shown in FIG. 1 using an output of 1 W) and setting the angle (θ) between the object beam 4 and the reference hole 3 to 180°. As a comparative sample, first, by the conventional dura mater process,
In the development step, the exposed photosensitive layer was immersed for 1 minute in a 3% aqueous solution of a hardening agent (acidic quick hardener manufactured by Fuji Photo Industries Co., Ltd., Fujisper Fixer), and then washed with running water at 18° C. for 5 minutes. Next, it was immersed in water at 35°C for 5 minutes, immersed in a 70% isopropyl alcohol aqueous solution at room temperature for 5 minutes, and 100% isopropyl alcohol for 2 minutes at room temperature, and then dried with warm air to obtain a hologram as a comparative sample. In the present invention, instead of the hardening agent treatment in the above development process, irradiation treatment was performed for 3 minutes at a distance of 20 cm from a Toshiba white light 20W fluorescent lamp, and then development treatment was performed using the same process as the comparative sample. , got a hologram. The results of comparing the same holograms are shown in Table 1 below.

しえるホログラムとなしうることがわかる。[Table] However, in Table 1, the diffraction efficiency is the percentage ratio of the first-order diffraction light intensity to the incident light intensity.
As can be seen from Table 1, conventional hardening agent treatment is carried out by immersing the hologram in an aqueous hardening agent solution, but as the film becomes thicker, it is difficult to control it in the solution. Even if there is a slight variation in the thickness of the formed film, unevenness will occur in the reproduced image and the quality will deteriorate significantly. In contrast, the present invention
Since the hardening process is performed by uniform exposure, the hardening effect can be performed uniformly, and unevenness will not occur in the reproduced image, resulting in a hologram with excellent uniformity of the reproduced image. In addition, in conventional hardener-treated holograms, uniform noise processing is not possible and the occurrence of whitening development cannot be prevented, but in the present invention, uniform noise processing is achieved by uniform exposure and hardening. It can be seen that a hologram that can prevent the whitening phenomenon while maintaining diffraction efficiency can be obtained.
