Description
【発明の詳細な説明】
本発明は感熱記録材料に関するものである。
従来、感熱記録材料として紙やプラスチツクフ
イルムの基材上に、ジアゾ化合物、カツプリング
剤を結合材樹脂中に分散させてなる感剤層、加熱
によりアルカリ性を示すか若しくはアルカリ性物
質を放出する塩基剤を結合材樹脂中に分散させて
なる塩基剤層、及び上塗層を順次積層してなるも
のは既に知られている。上記の従来の感熱記録材
料は通常、熱印字後、光定着する記録方式に用い
られており、記録が容易である上、記録装置も簡
便なため広く使用されている。従来の感熱記録材
料の最表層には上記のごとく上塗層が設けられて
いるが、上塗層は下層の塩基剤層を構成する結合
材樹脂との接着性を考えて選択された結合材樹脂
に、必要により離型剤若しくは滑剤を添加し、溶
剤若しくは希釈剤と共に混練して作成した上塗層
形成用塗料を用いて設けられる。このような上塗
層を設ける目的は、(イ)熱印字の際のステイツキン
グ防止、(ロ)光定着により発生する窒素ガスに起因
する気泡発生の抑制、(ハ)湿気等の環境からの遮断
等であるが、上記の上塗層形成用塗料に用いる結
合材樹脂に上記(イ)ないし(ハ)のごとき性質をすべて
兼ね備えさせるのは困難であり、特に(イ)及び(ロ)を
同時に満足させるのは困難である。
本発明者は上記した従来の欠点に鑑みて研究の
結果、ステイツキング防止の機能を付与した上塗
層と塩基剤層との中間にその他の機能を付与した
下塗層を介することにより、上記従来の欠点がい
ずれも解消されることを見い出して本発明の到達
したものである。
即ち本発明は下記(a)ないし(d)の各層、即ち、
(a) ジアゾ化合物及びカツプリング剤とが結合材
樹脂中に分散されている感剤層。
(b) 熱分解性アルカリ発生剤が結合材樹脂中に分
散されている塩基剤層。
(c) スチレン/マレイン酸共重合樹脂、ポリビニ
ルアルコール樹脂、ポリアクリル酸エステル樹
脂、メラミン樹脂、ポリアミド樹脂、若しくは
ポリ酢酸ビニル樹脂から選ばれた合成樹脂から
なる下塗層。
(d) 滑剤及び離型剤が分散されている合成樹脂か
らなる上塗層。
が基材上に順次積層してあることを特徴とする感
熱記録材料をその主旨とするものである。
以下、本発明について詳細に説明する。
第1図は本発明の感熱記録材料Aの一実施例の
断面図であり、基材1上に感剤層2、塩基剤層
3、下塗層4、上塗層5が順次積層してある。
基材1としては、通常の感熱記録材料の基材と
して使用するものであればいずれでもよいが、例
えば上質紙、中質紙、アート紙、コート紙及びケ
ント紙の紙類や、ポリエステル、ポリエチレン、
ポリプロピレン及びトリアセテートの各種合成樹
脂のフイルムが使用できる。
感剤層2は、ジアゾ化合物、カツプリング剤を
結合材樹脂中に分散させてなるものである。
上記においてジアゾ化合物としては、例えば、
特公昭55−49730号公報に記載してあるものを用
いることができる。
カツプリング剤としては一般式
で表わされるものを例示できる。但し、上記にお
いてR1,R2,R3,R5は水素、アルキル基、アリ
ール基、アルコキシ基、スルホン酸若しくはスル
ホン酸ナトリウム基、アルキルアミノ基、アリー
ルアミノ基、アミノ基、カルボン酸基、カルボン
酸エステル基、又はハロゲンであり、R4はアル
キル基、アリール基、若しくは複素環であり、
R6はスルホン酸若しくはスルホン酸ナトリウム
基又はカルボキシル基であり、R7、及びR8はR1,
R2,R3若しくはR5と同様のもの及びヒドロキシ
ル基でありXはハロゲン、mは1〜3の整数、n
は1若しくは2である。上記のうちA及びBに属
するカツプリング剤は青色若しくは赤色系の染料
を与えるものであり、Cに属するものは茶色若し
くは青色系の染料を与えるものであり、D及びE
に属するものは赤色若しくは黄色系の染料を与え
るものであり、これらの他、次式
で表わされるようなものも使用できる。
具体的にはレゾルシン及びその誘導体である4
−ベンゾイルレゾルシン、2−メチルレゾルシノ
ール、5−メチルレゾルシノール、ジレゾルシノ
ール及びジレゾルシノールサルフアイド、フロロ
グリシン、ピラゾロン類である1−フエニル−3
−メチル−5−ピラゾロン、4,4′−ビス(1−
フエニル−3−メチル−5−ピラゾロン)、1.
(4′−スルホフエニル)−3−メチル−5−ピラゾ
ロン、ナフトール類としては、2−ヒドロキシ−
3−ナフトエ酸−2′−エトキシアニリド、2−ヒ
ドロキシ−3−ナフトエ酸−2′,5′−ジメトキシ
アニリド、2−ヒドロキシ−3−ナフトエ酸−
2′−メトキシ−5−ニトロアニリド、2−ヒドロ
キシ−3−ナフトエ酸−2−メチル−4−クロロ
アニリド、2−ヒドロキシ−3−ナフトエ酸−モ
ルホリノプロピオアミド、2−ヒドロキシ−3−
ナフトエ酸エタノールアミド、ジヒドロキシナフ
タリン、2−ヒドロキシ−3−ナフトエ酸ナフト
アミド、1,8−ジヒドロキシナフタリン−3
(または4)−スルホン酸ナトリウム、1−ヒドロ
キシ−8−ベンゾイルアミノナフタリン−3−ス
ルホン酸ナトリウム、1−ヒドロキシ−8−フエ
ニルアミノナフタリン−4−スルホン酸ナトリウ
ム、1−ヒドロキシ−9−メチルアミノナフタリ
ン−5−スルホン酸ナトリウム、1−ヒドロキシ
ナフタリン−4−スルホン酸ナトリウム、2,8
−ジヒドロキシナフタリン−6−スルホン酸ナト
リウム。
酸性のカツプリング剤としては、2−ヒドロキ
シ−3−ナフトエ酸、2−ヒドロキシ−6−ナフ
トエ酸、2−ヒドロキシ−1−ナフトエ酸、2,
6−ジヒドロキシ安息香酸、2,4−ジヒドロキ
シ安息香酸、3,5−ジヒドロキシ安息香酸、
2,4,6−トリヒドロキシ安息香酸及びシアノ
酢酸、そのほか、m−ヒドロキシフエニル尿素、
N,N−エチレンビスアセトアセトアミド、2,
6−ジヒドロキシアセトフエノン、アセトアセト
アニリド、2,4,6−トリヒドロキシアセトフ
エノン、N−ベンジルアセトアセトアミド、カテ
コール、アセト酢酸ベンズアミド、あるいはま
た、2,4−ジヒドロキシ安息香酸エタノールア
ミド、3,5−ジヒドロキシ安息香酸エタノール
アミドなども使用できる。
カツプリング剤としてはその構造中にカツプリ
ング位置とともに、カルボン酸金属塩の形の基を
有する化合物も使用できる。具体例を挙げると、
2−ヒドロキシ−1−ナフトエ酸、2−ヒドロキ
シ−3−ナフトエ酸、2−ヒドロキシ−4−ナフ
トエ酸、2−ヒドロキシ−6−ナフトエ酸、2,
3−(または2,4−、2,5−、2,6−、3,
4−、3,5−)ジヒドロキシ安息香酸、2,
3,4−(または2,4,6−、3,4,5−)
トリヒドロキシ安息香酸、2−ヒドロキシアント
ラセン−3−カルボン酸、3−ヒドロキシベンゾ
フラン−2−カルボン酸2−ヒドロキシカルバゾ
ール−3−カルボン酸、2−ヒドロキシ−α−ベ
ンゾカルバゾール−3−カルボン酸、1.(4′−ス
ルホフエニル)−3−カルボキシ−5−ピラゾロ
ン、4,4′−メチレンビス−(3−ヒドロキシ−
2−ナフトエ酸)−2−(または3−、4−)アセ
トアセトアミノ安息香酸、3−(または4−、5
−、6−)アセトアセトアミノサリチル酸、5,
5′−カルボキシアセトアセトベンジジドのような
芳香族化合物の金属塩である。
塩を形成する金属としては、リチウム、ナトリ
ウム、カリウム、カルシウム、マグネシウム、ス
トロンチウム、バリウム、アルミニウム、クロ
ム、マンガン、鉄、コバルト、ニツケル、銅、亜
鉛またはカドミウムなど、1価または多価の原子
価をもつものから任意に選べる。
構造中にカツプリング位置とともに、カルボン
酸金属塩の形の基を有する化合物として列挙した
各化合物のうち、特に好ましいものは2−ヒドロ
キシ−1−ナフトエ酸、2−ヒドロキシ−3−ナ
フトエ酸、2,4−ジヒドロキシ安息香酸、4−
アセトアセトアミノ安息香酸、または4−アセト
アセトアミノサリチル酸の、カルシウム、亜鉛、
ストロンチウム、マンガンまたはカドミウムの塩
である。
結合材樹脂の条件としては、(イ)ジアゾ化合物の
溶剤である水、メタノール若しくはエタノールに
溶解すること、(ロ)熱印字の際にジアゾ化合物の発
色反応が容易な程度に軟化ないし溶融することが
挙げられる。以上の条件に合致するものとしては
ポリビニルアルコール、ポリビニルプチラール、
ポリビニルアセタール、ポリビニルホルマール、
エポキシ、ポリアクリル酸、ポリメタクリル酸、
ポリメタクリル酸エステル、ポリアクリル酸塩、
ポリアミド、ポリ塩化ビニル、ポリ酢酸ビニル、
塩化ビニル/酢酸ビニル共重合体、酢酸セルロー
ス、酢酪酸セルロース、メラミン、ポリビニルピ
ロリドン、ゼラチン、カゼイン等の合成若しくは
天然の樹脂を挙げることができる。結合材とし
て、更に酸性残基を有するものを用いると、ジア
ゾ化合物の安定化及び定着時の光分解速度促進の
点でより好ましく、このようなものとしてはスチ
レン/マレイン酸共重合体、イソブチレン/マレ
イン酸共重合体、塩化ビニル−酢酸ビニル−マレ
イン酸三元共重合樹脂を用いるとよい。
上記したジアゾ化合物、カツプリング剤、結合
材樹脂は、更に溶剤若しくは希釈剤と共に混練し
て感剤層形成用塗料とする。上記におけるジアゾ
化合物とカツプリング剤の配合比は1/0.5〜
1/5であり、より好ましくは1/3〜1/2で
ある。又、ジアゾ化合物と結合材樹脂の配合比は
1/1〜1/20、より好ましくは1/3〜1/10
である。感剤形成用塗料中にはジアゾ化合物の保
存安定性の向上及び定着操作における光分解速度
の向上の意味で酸性の安定剤を加えることが望ま
しく、1価ないし2価以上の脂肪酸、具体的には
クエン酸、シユウ酸、マロン酸、リンゴ酸、アジ
ピン酸、マレイン酸等を挙げることができる。
以上のようにして調製した感剤層形成用塗料を
基材の表面に公知の塗布方法、例えばグラビアコ
ート、ロールコート、エアーナイフコート、キス
コート、スプレーコート、かけ流しコート、デイ
ツプコート、スピンナーコート、ホイーラーコー
ト、刷毛塗り、シルクスクリーンによるベタコー
ト、ワイヤーバーコート、フローコート、グラビ
ア印刷、グラビアオフセツト印刷、平版オフセツ
ト印刷、ダイリン印刷、凸版印刷、凹版印刷、ジ
エツトプリント、シルクスクリーン印刷、静電印
刷により塗布し、厚みが2〜5μm程度になるよう
にして感熱記録層を形成する。
次に塩基剤層3は有機若しくは無機の加熱によ
りアルカリ性を示すか若しくは熱分解してアルカ
リを発生する、熱分解性アルカリ発生剤を結合材
樹脂中に分散させてなる。熱分解性若ちくは熱溶
解性アルカリ発生剤としては有機系の尿素、チオ
尿素、アミノピリジン、イミダゾール、フエニル
イミダゾール、グアニジン、ジフエニルグアニジ
ン、ジ−o−トリルグアニジン及びその誘導体
や、無機系のNH4HCO3、NH4H2PO4、
(NH4)2HPO4、(NH4)3PO4、NaHNH4PO4等を
挙げることができる。
上記のような熱分解性アルカリ発生剤は感剤層
を形成するのと同様にして結合材樹脂、溶剤若し
くは希釈剤中に分散して塩基剤層形成用塗料と
し、公知の塗布方法や印刷方法により感熱記録層
2上に塩基剤層3を形成する。上記において熱分
解性アルカリ発生剤/結合材樹脂の比は1/0.5
〜1/5、好ましくは1/0.5〜1/2程度であ
る。塩基剤層の厚みとしては1〜2μmである。な
お、上記塩基剤層形成用塗料中で熱分解型アルカ
リ発生剤が溶解していると塩基剤層3形成時に下
層の感材層2に浸透して発色する恐れが大きく、
分散型であることが望ましい。
次に下塗層4について説明すると、下塗層4を
設ける目的は、塩基剤層3と後述する上塗層5
との密着力アツプ、熱印字により発生する窒素
ガスに起因する気泡発生の物理的抑制、後述す
る上塗層5を通して空気中より侵入する湿気や
酸、アルカリ成分等の遮断、塩基剤層4の表面
の平滑化及びサーマルヘツド圧着時の密着性向
上のための弾性付与である。
上記の目的で設ける下塗層4は例えば、スチレ
ン/マレイン酸共重合樹脂、ポリビニルアルコー
ル樹脂、ポリアクリル酸樹脂、ポリアクリル酸エ
ステル樹脂、メラミン樹脂、ポリアミド(ナイロ
ン)樹脂若しくはポリビニルアセタール樹脂、ポ
リビニルアセタール樹脂等のポリビニルアセター
ル系樹脂を結合材樹脂とし、好ましくは柔軟性を
有し、透気度が小さく、批膜形成能の高い樹脂と
してポリビニルアルコール樹脂、ポリアミド樹
脂、ポリ酢酸ビニル樹脂を結合材樹脂として用い
ることが望ましい。
これらの結合材樹脂を溶解する溶剤としては、
下塗層4の下層の塩基剤を溶解しないものを選択
し使用して、以上の結合材樹脂、溶剤、更に希釈
剤等を適宜に配合して混練し下塗層形成用塗料と
した後、公知の塗布・印刷方法により膜厚0.5〜
2μmになるよう形成する。
上塗層5は下層の感材層2や塩基剤層3を保護
し、熱印字の際に発色成分や結合材樹脂が熱ヘツ
ドに付着する、いわゆるステイツキングを防止す
るために設けるものである。上塗層4としては熱
可塑性樹脂や熱硬化性樹脂に滑剤および離型剤を
配合してなる塗料組成物を用いて公知の塗布方法
により形成することができ、かかる塗料組成物は
エチルセルロース、エチルヒドロキシエチルセル
ロース、セルロースアセテートプロピオネート、
ニトロセルロース、酢酸セルロース等のセルロー
ス誘導体、ポリスチレン、ポリαメチルスチレン
などのスチレン樹脂及びスチレン共重合樹脂、ポ
リメタクリル酸メチル、ポリメタクリル酸エチ
ル、ポリアクリル酸エチル、ポリアクリル酸ブチ
ルなどのアクリル又はメタクリル樹脂の単独又は
共重合樹脂、ロジン、ロジン変性マレイン酸樹
脂、ロジン変性フエノール樹脂、重合ロジンなど
のロジンエステル樹脂、ポリ酢酸ビニル樹脂、ク
マロン樹脂、ビニルトルエン樹脂、塩化ビニル樹
脂、ポリエステル樹脂、ポリウレタン樹脂、ブチ
ラール樹脂、ポリアミド樹脂、塩化ビニル−酢酸
ビニル共重合樹脂、環化ゴム、塩化ゴム等のうち
から選択したベヒクルの1種又は2種以上と更に
滑剤及び離型剤を配合し、溶剤及び希釈剤を添加
し混練して調製することができる。サーマルヘツ
ドとしてドツトライン型感熱プリンターは熱印字
の際に圧力がかかり、感熱記録材料とサーマルヘ
ツドとが強く摩擦するので、滑剤および離型剤の
使用が効果的となる。
滑剤として役立つものは、金属石けんすなわち
ラウリン酸やステアリン酸のような脂肪酸の金属
塩が代表的であるが、そのほかにも次のような物
質がある。
有機スズ脂肪酸塩たとえばジブチル−スズ−ジ
ラウレート、ジブチル−スズ−ジノニレート、脂
肪酸アミドたとえばステアリルアミド、パルミチ
ルアミド、オレイルアミド、ビス脂肪酸アミド、
高級ケトンたとえばステアロン、
高級アルコールとその誘導体たとえばミリスチ
ルアルコール、セチルアルコール、ステアリルア
ルコール、ポリエチレングリコール、ポリグリセ
ロール、
炭化水素類たとえば流動パラフイン、パラフイ
ンワツクス、マイクロワツクス、低重合度のポリ
エチレン、ならびに、
天然ワツクスたとえばカルナウバロウ、カンデ
リラロウ、密ロウ、鯨ロウ、イポタロウ、モンタ
ンロウ。
又、離型剤とは、一般にゴムやプラスチツク加
工に際して型離れを改善する目的で使用されてい
るものを指す。多種類の物質が離型剤として役立
つが、主なものを挙げれば、
鉱油たとえば石油エーテル、
植物油たとえばオリーブ油やヒマシ油、
ワセリンあるいはラノリン、
脂肪酸とくに炭素数11〜24のアルカン酸または
アルケン酸、およびそのエステルとくに炭素数6
〜24のアルキルまたはアルケニルとのエステル、
亜リン酸エステルとくにフエニルまたはアルキ
ル(炭素数8〜13)のエステル、
グリセリン−ソルビタン縮合物の脂肪酸エステ
ル、
アルケノイル(炭素数7〜21)アミノ酸エステ
ル、
フルオロカーボンおよびテフロン、ならびにシ
リコーン
などである。
上記の上塗層5の厚みは0.5〜2μmである。
本発明の感熱記録材料Aは基本的には以上の構
成を有しているが、更に基材1と感剤層2との間
に密着力を向上する目的でプライマー層6を積層
してもよい。第2図にプライマー層6を設けた感
熱記録材料Bの断面図を示す。
プライマー層6は、基材1と感材層2の材料を
考慮して選択された合成樹脂を適宜な溶剤で溶解
した溶液型、若しくは水性エマルジヨン型の塗料
を用いて形成することができ、塗膜厚みは1〜
3μmである。溶液型のものとしては、ポリエステ
ル、ポリアクリル酸エステル、塩ビ/酢ビ共重合
体、ポリビニルブチラール、酢酪酸セルロース等
の熱可塑性樹脂を溶剤を用いて溶解したものを挙
げることができる。上記の熱可塑性樹脂はエマル
ジヨンや水溶液として使用することもできる。水
溶液のものとしてはポリビニルアルコール、ポリ
ビニルピロリドン、ポリアクリル酸等の合成樹脂
を用いたものや、ゼラチン、カゼイン等の天然樹
脂を用いたものを挙げることができる。
本発明の感熱記録材料を用いて記録を行なうに
は熱ペンや熱ヘツドを用いてまず熱印字し、しか
る後、ジアゾコピー機の紫外線灯等の紫外光源を
用いて全面照射し定着すればよい。
以上の本発明の感熱記録材料は、従来の一層の
上塗層を有するものにくらべて、下塗層と上塗層
の2層からなる保護層を有しているので、保護層
の密着力がすぐれており、下塗層で一旦下層の凹
凸をならしてから上塗層を形成してあるので表面
の平滑性がすぐれており、このことはステイツキ
ングの防止上有利である。又、下塗層と上塗層の
樹脂の選択により、熱印字の際の気泡発生を物理
的に抑制できる。更に可塑剤を含有するポリ塩化
ビニル樹脂シート等と触れさせても可塑剤の移行
をなくすことができ、使用する発色系とも相挨つ
て一旦発色した後の消色が無く、又、可塑剤浸透
による染料の溶解移動を防止することもできる。
実施例 1
下記の様に基材及び各層形成用塗料を準備し
た。

上記のポリエステルフイルムの表面に、まずプ
ライマー層形成用塗料を用い、グラビアコート法
により乾燥後の膜厚1μmのプライマー層を形成
し、プライマー層上に感剤層形成用塗料を用い、
ロールコート法により乾燥後の膜厚3μmの感剤層
を形成し、感剤層上に塩基剤層形成用塗料を用
い、ロツドコート法により乾燥後の膜厚1μmの塩
基剤層を形成した。更に塩基剤層の表面に下塗層
形成用塗料を用い、グラビアコート法により乾燥
後の膜厚が1μmになるよう下塗層を形し、形成さ
れた下塗層の表面に上塗層形成用塗料を用いてグ
ラビアコート法により乾燥後の膜厚が1μmになる
よう上塗層を形成した。
比較例 1
上記実施例1と同様の材料を用い、下塗層及び
上塗層を除いた他は実施例1と同様にして行なつ
た。
比較例 2
上記実施例1と同様に、但し、下塗層のみを除
いて行なつた。

て乾燥時膜厚1μmの塩基剤層、下塗層形成用塗料
を用いグラビアコート法にて乾燥時膜厚3μmの下
塗層、及び、実施例1で用いたのと同じ上塗層形
成用塗料を用いてグラビアコート法により乾燥時
