Claims (1)

    【実用新案登録請求の範囲】
  1. 光源からの光を液晶表示パネルに入射させ、前
    記液晶表示パネルの画像を表示する液晶表示装置
    において、前記光源と液晶表示パネルとの間に配
    置され前記光源からの光をＰ偏光の光とＳ偏光の
    光とに分離し前記Ｐ偏光の光を前記液晶表示パネ
    ルの入射方向に透過させ前記Ｓ偏光の光を反射さ
    せる偏光ビームスプリツタと、この偏光ビームス
    プリツタで反射したＳ偏光の光をＰ偏光の光に変
    える旋光体と、前記偏光ビームスプリツタと光源
    との間に配置されたハーフミラーと、このハーフ
    ミラーの反射方向に配置された第１ミラーと、前
    記偏光ビームスプリツタを挾んで前記旋光体と対
    向して配置された第２ミラーと、前記旋光体でＰ
    偏光に変換された光を光源方向へ反射する第３ミ
    ラーと、この第３ミラーからの反射光を前記ハー
    フミラー方向へ反射する第４ミラーとを具備した
    ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
