DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention provides 4,4'-diaminostilbene-2,
This invention relates to a method for producing 2'-disulfonic acid or a salt thereof. More specifically, the compound represented by the following formula (in the formula, n represents 0, 1 or 2) is hydrogenolyzed in the presence of a Raney nickel (hereinafter referred to as R-Ni) catalyst poisoned with bisulfite. Stilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid or its salt (hereinafter referred to as DAST)
Regarding a new manufacturing method for DAST has a high industrial status as a dye intermediate, and is an extremely important and useful industrial raw material, especially as a key intermediate for fluorescent brighteners for cellulose. Conventionally, the generally known method for producing DAST is as follows: (1) In the presence of alkali hydroxide, 4-nitrotoluene-2-sulfonic acid (hereinafter referred to as PNT acid) is mixed with sodium hypochlorite or air. oxidize with
4,4'-dinitrostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid (hereinafter referred to as DNST) was obtained (written by Yutaka Hosoda, Dye Kagaku p511 Gihodo), and then the obtained
DNST in the presence of iron and sulfuric acid (written by Yutaka Hosoda, Dye Kagaku, p. 511, Gihodo) or a catalyst.
Method for producing DAST or its salts by catalytic reduction under hydrogen pressure (Japanese Patent Publication No. 48-815, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 1983-1989)
-127955, etc.) (2) DAST is achieved by reductively decomposing the condensate obtained by self-condensing PNT acid in the presence of hydroxide with iron or its divalent compound in an aqueous medium.
How to get (Horyna Jaroslov,
Czech186150, 15Nov.1980) etc. However, method (1) requires an oxidation step to produce DNST, followed by a reduction step to produce DAST, and a step in which DNST is overseparated is unavoidable. Also
The oxidation process to obtain DNST requires special chemicals or special gas-liquid contact reaction equipment, resulting in poor productivity. In addition, the cost of utilities for maintaining the process and the cost of treating the waste liquid that is discharged increases, resulting in significant economic losses. Regarding method (2), since a large amount of iron or its divalent salt is used, a large amount of iron oxide is discharged after the reaction is completed, and a large amount of utility costs are required to separate it from the product.
It also requires a great deal of cost to treat the waste, and cannot be said to be an industrially advantageous production method. The inventors of the present invention overcame the drawbacks of conventional methods, and as a result of intensive study on an economical and advantageous industrial production method for DAST, they discovered a method for obtaining DAST in high yield in a short time under extremely mild conditions. The present invention has now been completed. That is, in the present invention, in an aqueous medium,
PNT acid or 4,4'-dinitrodibenzyl-
A compound represented by the following formula (A) obtained by self-condensation of 2,2'-disulfonic acid (hereinafter referred to as DNDB) (in the formula, n represents 0, 1 or 2), R-Ni poisoned with bisulfite is added as a catalyst, and hydrogenolyzed with molecular hydrogen under pressure.
This is the way to get DAST. As mentioned above, the raw material of the present invention is synthesized in an aqueous medium, and the hydrogenolysis step of the present invention also proceeds conveniently in an aqueous medium, so the raw material synthesis step and the process of the present invention can be made continuous. The economic effect can be further increased by this. It goes without saying that there is no problem in carrying out the present invention using the raw materials taken between the two steps. The compound represented by the structural formula (A) used as a raw material in the present invention is generally prepared by heating PNT acid in the presence of an alkali hydroxide such as sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, lithium hydroxide, etc. in an aqueous medium. Although easily synthesized (PB Report 85593,
(Japanese Patent Publication No. 44-13388) It can be synthesized under the same conditions using DNDB or DNST. In other words, any compound having a structure in which the stilbene skeleton is bonded via an azo group or an azoxy group can be fully used as a raw material for the method of the present invention, and there are no particular restrictions on the method for producing the raw material. . The catalyst used in the method of the present invention is a commercially available aqueous slurry of activated R-Ni which is poisoned by dropping an aqueous bisulfite solution therein. This is a measure to suppress the reaction in which hydrogen is added to the ethylene bond in the stilbene skeleton. The bisulfite used for poisoning may be a compound that can be obtained industrially at low cost, such as sodium bisulfite, ammonium bisulfite, and the like. The appropriate proportion of poisoned R-Ni used is 0.1% to 30% by weight of the raw material. Although the proportion used is not limited to the above-mentioned range, if it is too small, the reaction rate will decrease, during which time colored by-products will be produced. If the amount is too large, there will be virtually no effect on the reaction, but economic losses due to the use of excess catalyst will be unavoidable. The reaction pressure when carrying out the method of the present invention is 1
It is appropriate to carry out the reaction while maintaining the amount of Kg/cm 2 to 30 Kg/cm 2 . The reaction temperature is suitably 30°C to 150°C, and the reaction time is 10 minutes to 5 hours. However, these hydrogen pressure, reaction temperature, and reaction time can be changed within a range that does not substantially adversely affect the product, and are not limited to the above ranges. Further, when carrying out the method of the present invention, it is desirable to maintain the pH of the reaction mixture at 4 to 10, preferably 5 to 8. Although pH adjustment is not limited to the above range, if it is too low, not only will the reaction rate decrease, but corrosion of the reactor material must be taken into account. On the other hand, if the temperature is too high, the reaction rate will drop significantly, the amount of unreacted substances will increase, and the
Separation of DAST is difficult. This reaction can be carried out in batch, semi-batch or continuous manner. DAST obtained by the method of the present invention is completely dissolved in an aqueous medium after hydrogenolysis, but since the catalyst used is water-insoluble, it can be recovered and reused after sedimentation or separate separation. . General chemical and physical methods can be used to separate DAST from the resulting reaction solution. For example, DAST crystals can be easily obtained by salting out or acid precipitation. Furthermore, if necessary, the reaction solution can be used in the next step as it is. Examples are given below to specifically explain the method of the present invention, but the invention is not limited thereto. In addition, all "parts" in the examples indicate parts by weight. Example 1 Dissolve 15 parts of 4-nitrotoluene-2-sulfonic acid in 180 ml of water and make it slightly alkaline by adding 9.2 parts of sodium hydroxide. Next, after heating the contents to 70°C, 34 parts of sodium hydroxide is made into an aqueous solution of about 40% concentration, and added dropwise over 15 to 20 minutes. After that, 1
When the temperature is raised to 80℃ for 4 hours and stirring is continued while maintaining the same temperature for 4 hours, a compound represented by structural formula (A) (a mixture of compounds represented by n = 0, n = 1, n = 2) is obtained. 290 parts of an aqueous slurry containing 14 parts are obtained. The slurry was adjusted to pH=7 using dilute sulfuric acid.
After neutralization, transfer to an autoclave. Subsequently, 1.6 parts of R-Ni poisoned with sodium bisulfite was added, and then hydrogen gas was introduced under pressure up to 10 kg/cm 2 and heating was started. During gradual heating to 90°C, absorption of hydrogen gas is observed, so additional hydrogen gas is pressurized to 10 kg/cm 2 . After reaching 90°C, the reaction was continued for 30 minutes while maintaining the hydrogen pressure at 10 kg/cm 2 , and then cooled to room temperature and the brown reaction liquid was taken out. After overseparating the catalyst,
When dilute sulfuric acid is added to the solution and the pH is set to 2, a light brown color appears.
DAST crystals are obtained. After going through this
Drying yielded 11.4 parts of DAST. This is for PNT
This corresponds to an acid yield of 89.0%. When this DAST was identified and quantitatively analyzed using high performance liquid chromatography, it was confirmed to be DAST, and the purity was 88.2%. Incidentally, poisoning of R-Ni by sodium bisulfite was carried out by the following method. 10 ml of an aqueous solution containing 1.25 parts of sodium bisulfite in an appropriate amount of an aqueous slurry containing 10 parts of R-Ni.
After dropping, stir at room temperature for 30 minutes. After that, leave it to stand, decant the supernatant liquid, and then repeat the decantation process three times with 200 ml of water to wash. Example 2 4,4'-dinitrodibenzyl-2,
After adding 10 parts of 2'-disulfonic acid and 5 parts of sodium hydroxide, the mixture was gradually heated to 85°C. When stirring is continued for 2 hours at the same temperature, a compound of structural formula (A) (n
115 parts of an aqueous slurry containing 9.5 parts of a mixture of compounds of the formula: =0, n=1, n=2 are obtained. After neutralizing the slurry to pH=7 with dilute sulfuric acid,
Transfer to autoclave. After that, 2 parts of R-Ni poisoned with sodium bisulfite was added, and 10 parts of hydrogen gas was added.
Press in to Kg/cm 2 and start heating. Hydrogen gas absorption is observed during gradual heating to 90℃, so 10Kg/cm 2
Additional hydrogen gas is injected so that the After reaching 90°C, the reaction was continued for 15 minutes while maintaining the hydrogen pressure at 10 kg/cm 2 , and then cooled to room temperature and the brown reaction liquid was taken out.
After over-separating the catalyst, dilute sulfuric acid is added to the solution to adjust the pH to 2, yielding light brown DAST crystals. After this time, it was dried to obtain 7.2 parts of DAST. (Yield: 90.7%) Example 3 In Example 2, 4,4'-dinitrobenzyl-
Instead of using 2,2'-disulfonic acid, 4,4-
DAST was obtained by almost the same procedure using dinitrostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic acid. Examples 4 to 7 Compounds of structural formula (A) synthesized in substantially the same manner as in Example 1 or 2 (n=0, n=1, n=2
mixture of compounds represented by) and water and R
A predetermined amount of -Ni was charged into an autoclave, and a reaction was carried out at a predetermined pressure, at a predetermined temperature, and for a predetermined time. After the reaction, separate R-Ni, add dilute sulfuric acid,
DAST was precipitated, over-dried, analyzed and quantified by high performance liquid chromatography. The results are shown below in a table. 【table】
