There were two methods: calibrating the BF 3 proportional counter, or removing the BF 3 proportional counter from its designated installation location and calibrating it. However, all of these require a lot of processing and time for proofreading.

By limiting the thermal neutrons reflected from the calibration plate to those reflected from the calibration plate, calibration can be performed easily and with high accuracy.

うことができる。 A specific embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIG. Reference numeral 1 denotes a moisture meter hopper, on which an object to be measured such as powder is placed. 2 is a fast neutron source such as 241 Am-Be.
When measuring the moisture content of the object to be measured in the hopper, fast neutrons are slowed down by the moisture contained in the powder in the hopper and become thermal neutrons. Thermal neutrons are 3
Counted by BF 3 proportional counter. The water content of the object to be measured in the hopper is calculated by the signal processing device 4 from the number of thermal neutrons counted by the BF 3 proportional counter. 5 indicates a calibration section. FIG. 2 shows the configuration of this calibration section. 7 is a thermal neutron absorbing material such as cadmium and is placed on the hopper side. Reference numeral 8 denotes a calibration plate, which is a material with a known moisture content such as an acrylic plate, and is placed on the BF 3 counter side. Reference numeral 6 denotes a calibration unit driving device, which inserts the calibration unit 5 between the hopper and the BF 3 proportional counter tube when calibrating the neutron moisture meter. During calibration, 5 is inserted and the fast neutrons become thermal neutrons with the calibration plate 8 and the powder in the hopper 1, but since the thermal neutrons from the hopper are unnecessary for calibration, they are absorbed by the neutron absorber 7. By doing this, the neutron moisture meter can be calibrated.

A neutron moisture meter is provided with a calibration device that integrates a calibration plate and a thermal neutron absorber that decelerate and scatter thermal neutrons equivalent to a certain known moisture content, and a drive device that drives the calibration device, and performs the BF 3 proportional counter. When calibrating the tube, insert the calibration device between the hopper and the BF 3 proportional counter tube so that the thermal neutron absorber of the calibration device is on the hopper side and the calibration plate is on the BF 3 proportional counter tube side. Thermal neutrons decelerated and scattered from the measurement object are absorbed by the thermal neutron absorber,
Thermal neutrons decelerated and scattered from the calibration plate are transferred to the BF 3
A neutron moisture meter characterized by counting using a proportional counter.
