As shown in A), a stepped portion 7 that substantially matches the height of the end surface 6 of the steel plate 1 is formed on the lower steel plate 2, and a groove portion 8 between the stepped portion 7 and the end surface 6 is filled with vinyl chloride sol (PVC). ) etc. is applied in a raised state. In order to maintain the appearance of the area where the sealant 9 is applied, (B
), the lower edge 10 of the rubber spatula 13 is brought into contact with the flat parts 11 and 12 of the steel plates 1 and 2, and the groove part 8

The sealant 9 is applied to the groove 1 so that it swells beyond the groove 1.
6. Then, similar to the method for sealing the steel plate joint shown in FIG. 2, the raised portion of the sealant 9 is scraped off using a rubber spatula 13. At this time, as shown in FIG. 3(B), the lower edge l of the spatula 13 is

Since the upper end 14 is abutted diagonally upward, the upper end 14 of the end face 6 is sealed by the sealant 9, and rusting from the upper end 14 portion is prevented.

In the method for sealing a joint of steel plates in which sealing is performed by applying a sealant to the joint including the other steel plate, an auxiliary member is attached at a position spaced a predetermined distance from the end face of one steel plate on the flat surface of the other steel plate. A groove is formed between the end face and a vertical wall surface of the auxiliary member that is opposite to the end face and is formed higher than the end face, and a sealant is applied to the groove to swell it up, and then the linear lower end of the spatula is The method for sealing a joint between steel plates involves scraping off the raised portion of the sealant by moving the edge into contact with the upper edge of the vertical wall surface portion and the flat surface near the end face of the one steel plate. It is characterized by

At the same time, the sealant interposed between the flat part and the lower edge of the other steel plate is pressed onto the flat part and smoothed. Further, the raised portion of the sealant that is not pushed into the groove and is not pressed onto the flat surface and protrudes in front of the spatula is scraped off by the front surface of the spatula.

Furthermore, since the groove is formed using the auxiliary member, it is possible to completely seal the joint between flat steel plates or the joint between steel plates with insufficient steps.
