For this reason, conventionally, the threshold value for the detection output of the detection sensor is adjusted for each detection sensor. In addition, this 2J adjustment must be performed at regular intervals to prevent misidentification due to aging of the sensor.

In this circuit, a phototransistor 2 receives light emitted from a light-emitting diode 1 when a current is applied with a power supply voltage of +Vc, and a voltage generated when the phototransistor becomes conductive is detected by a comparator 3.
Compared with the variable voltage Vs which becomes the threshold voltage (reference voltage) at
The presence or absence of paper sheets is determined by the discriminating means 4 based on the size of the paper sheet, and the operating point is adjusted by setting the resistor R connected to the emitter side of the phototransistor to :A to adjust the input signal to the comparator. Adjustments are made to the magnitude or reference voltage V 2 entering the comparator. As described above, the operator performs such adjustments one by one for a large number of detection sensors. In addition, 3B adjustment is carried out again at regular intervals to take into account factors such as aging.

The adjusted value is taken out and given to the light emitter depending on the situation, and the adjustment is confirmed based on that value. By using such a method, adjustments can be confirmed effectively, and the standards for later stages of the process are looser, so there are no problems that are judged to be abnormal even though they are normal. Never.

The reason for setting 20% of the normal value is that, as is clear from Figure 4, which shows the input/output characteristics of the comparator, the detection output (VIn-vL) of the detection sensor when detecting the presence of paper sheets is Since it is usually a few percent to 10% of the detection output (VIn-"II) when no detection is being performed, it is certain that the actual threshold value (vv) is within the range of vL and Vll TIIL' Tl1
This is to ensure that it falls within 11. It is assumed that this 20% value is stored in the ROM 9a.

Then, with {circle around (2)} fixed, the light emitting current IF of the light emitting diode is increased by a predetermined amount from the normal 20%, for example, to 25% of the normal light emitting current IF, and the human power signal v1□ is raised (step S6). At this time, the output signal V
. It is confirmed that uL is inverted (HL) (step S7). Next, reduce the light emitting current by a predetermined amount, for example, to 18% of the normal light emitting current! F is lowered and input signals v and n are lowered (step S8). At this time, the output signal V. It is confirmed that ut is inverted (from L to H) (step S9). After setting the threshold "T11" in this way, when the output signal is definitely inverted as the input signal "in" is raised and lowered, the +tJ 'Ffs source voltage V at that time is stored in the RAM 9b as a normal value, The threshold vi adjustment operation ends. On the other hand, when the output signal V does not perform an inversion operation in the confirmation operation, the adjustment operation is restarted from the beginning, and if the adjustment cannot be made even after readjustment (step 511), an adjustment error is detected. Display (step 512) and end.

This comparison circuit compares a human input signal with a threshold value set as a reference value, and generates an output depending on the magnitude thereof. This comparison circuit is affected by noise components in the human input signal VIn and minute fluctuations in the input signal v1o near the threshold.
The input signal vIn and the output signal V are such that the output signal V does not cause malfunction phenomena such as chattering. ut is made to have hysteresis characteristics. The width of the dead zone in this hysteresis characteristic is automatically changed to an appropriate value according to the threshold value. Therefore, it is very effective in devices where the threshold value is not determined in advance and is automatically adjusted.

It is given via 2. Resistors R and R2 form a voltage divider circuit and divide the variable voltage R voltage Vs. Since the input signal VIn is input to the inverting side input terminal of the comparator 21, the output signal VIn, which is the comparison output, is input from the output terminal of the comparator 21.

The voltage is divided by a voltage dividing circuit consisting of the following: The divided voltage is input to the inverting input terminal of the comparator 22. It is given as 2.

This will be explained with reference to FIG. Now, in FIG. 7, the input signal (V) entering the inverting input terminal of the comparator 21 is higher than the voltage (V, 1) entering the normal input terminal (vnl>vpl), and its output signal is v
-0 state. In this state, the normal input terminal of the comparator 22 is v-0, and the inverting input terminal is v-0. Therefore, since the input of the inverting input terminal is larger (
vn2>Vp2), the output of the comparator 22 becomes the ground level, and the voltage of is applied to the normal input terminal of the comparator 1.

Assume that the state is pl. In this state, the voltage applied to the non-inverting input terminal of the comparator 2 is v,2-+Vc, and the voltage applied to the inverting input terminal is . Therefore, the inverting input terminal is smaller (v.2<V,2), the output of comparator 2 is open, and the normal input terminal of comparator 1 has V, 1-
A voltage of V5 will be applied. This voltage is the input signal (
As the voltage of V, n) increases, the threshold voltage when the output signal is inverted from H to L is THII''vs. Therefore, the width of the dead zone due to the hysteresis characteristic is as follows. This situation is shown in FIG.

Therefore, when the threshold voltage is changed, the width of the dead zone changes accordingly. For example, as shown in Fig. 10, when the threshold voltage is lowered to vTH, the width of the dead zone (E,,') also decreases accordingly. , when the threshold voltage is increased to close vTll, the width of the dead zone (E,,') also increases accordingly, and the width of the dead zone always changes at a constant ratio to the threshold voltage, and the width of the dead zone is determined to be an appropriate width. Therefore, even if the threshold value is not known in advance, the width of the dead zone (E, ) of the hysteresis characteristic can be changed and set according to the variable type [(V) for adjusting the threshold value, so that an appropriate dead zone can always be maintained. settings can be made.

Even in a normal comparison circuit in which the inverting input terminal and the normal input terminal are connected in reverse, the width of the dead zone due to the hysteresis characteristic.
Similarly, I+ is the il transformer power supply (Vs) and resistors (R1, R2)
Since it is determined by the constant of , a variable width dead zone can be obtained.
