Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable an EPROM to be easily switched from a data erasing protective state to a data erasable state or vice versa by a method wherein an erasing protective piece is composed of a frame and a lid. CONSTITUTION:A back seal is separated from frame 3a, and the frame 3a is fixed to an EPROM 1 so as to overlap an erasing window 2. When data stored in the EPROM are prevented from being erased by ultraviolet rays, the data can be prevented from being erased by closing a lid 3b to completely shut off ultraviolet rays. When data stored in the EPROM 1 are erased out by ultraviolet rays, the data can be erased out by opening the lid 3b. When data stored in the EPROM are prevented from being erased by ultraviolet rays through a long term, the front seal of the frame 3a is separated off and the lid 3b is closed, whereby the EPROM 1 is fixed in a state that its data are protected against erasing. By this setup, an EPROM can easily be switched from a data erasing protective state to a data erasable state or vice versa.
