In an ultrasonic motor starting device that drives an ultrasonic motor by ultrasonic vibrations generated in the piezoelectric body, the frequency of the voltage applied to the piezoelectric body is set to be higher than the expected driving frequency, and the frequency is set to the resonant frequency. The resonant frequency is set to a lower frequency than the next resonant frequency at a higher frequency, and a starting means is provided for sequentially lowering and outputting the frequency.
