Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thin film electroluminescence display device with an excellent visibility by setting the curvature of at least part of a transparent substrate to a value other than zero. CONSTITUTION:A curvature is applied to a transparent substrate 1. The semi-circular glass substrate 1 is used, and tin-added indium oxide 2 as an transparent electrode, tantalum pentaoxide 3 (Ta2O3) as the first insulating layer, manganese- added zinc sulfide 4 as a light emitting layer, Ta2O5 5 as the second insulating layer, and aluminum 6 as a back electrode are stacked in sequence on the glass substrate 1. When the glass substrate 1 has a curvature, vertical seams between panels can be eliminated, thus the fast reading property is improved. The visibility can be improved.

The back electrode 6 is made of AI or the like and is arranged perpendicular to the rear electrode 6. When an alternating current voltage is applied to the transparent electrode 2 and the back electrode 6, the portion where the electrodes intersect emits light. In addition, the dielectric material is 3゜5

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) Conventionally, a flat glass plate has been used as a transparent substrate of a thin film EL display device. However, depending on the device to which the display device is attached, such as a helmet windshield or a bulletin board, there is a need to further improve visibility.

In order to improve visibility, conventionally, small panels were arranged at an angle, as shown in Figure 3. This poses a problem in that the vertical grain between each panel is not displayed, and the display between the panels cannot be read quickly, resulting in poor visibility.

As shown in FIGS. 2 and 4, the transparent substrate is characterized by having a curvature. The curved portion may be part of the transparent substrate. By providing curvature, it is possible to eliminate vertical grain between panels, thereby improving speed reading and visibility.

Hereinafter, an explanation will be given with reference to FIG. 4, taking a bulletin board as an example. A semicircular glass substrate l as shown in FIG. 4 was used. On top of that, tin-doped indium oxide 2 (
ITO) was produced by a sputtering method, and a predetermined pattern was formed by photolithography. On top of that,
Tantalum pentoxide 3 (Ta, O,) was deposited as the first insulating layer by sputtering, then manganese-doped zinc sulfide 4 (ZnS:Mn) was deposited as the light emitting layer by electron beam evaporation, and then Ta was deposited as the second insulating layer. , 0.5 by sputtering, and finally aluminum 6 (AI) as a back electrode by sputtering. Next, the AI is formed into a predetermined pattern by photolithography, and finally moisture-proof sealing is performed. By connecting this substrate covered with a sealing glass cap to a drive circuit, a bulletin board with a thin film EL display device is completed as shown in FIG.
