Regarding the method of molding a wood club head for golf with an outer shell made of FRP (abbreviated as FRP), the occurrence of burrs on the molded product is prevented by binding the FRP outer shell molding material that makes up the head body with fiber bundles. It was designed to do so.

The reinforcing fibers are caught between the contact surfaces and form burrs, and when removing the burrs after demolding, some of the reinforcing fibers are cut and become discontinuous, resulting in various problems such as a decrease in overall strength. Easy to occur.

The head body 1 is formed from an outer shell 2 made of FRP and a core material 3 made of foamed synthetic resin, and the FRP outer shell 2 has a plurality of laminated structures. In addition, a face plate 4 made of a hardening agent FRP (mainly carbon fiber is used as reinforcing fiber) is provided on the face portion 1a of the head body 1, and a face plate 4 is provided on the face portion 1a of the head body 1.
A sole weight member 5 and a back weight member 6 made of a metal material such as brass are embedded and fixed in the back portion 1c as required. Furthermore, in the figure, 7 is a club shaft inserted and fixed into the neck portion 1d of the head main body 1, and 8 is a club shaft 7 and the neck portion 1d of the head main body 1.
It is a cap-shaped protector that protects the periphery of the mounting base of the head, and each of these members is integrated at the same time as the head body is molded.

である。 That is, in order to manufacture the above-described wood club head, as shown in FIGS. 3 to 5, a foamed material separately shaped into the core shape of the head body is added to the core metal material 10 corresponding to the club shaft member. A core material 11 made of synthetic resin or a low melting point metal for hollow molding is bonded together and fixed in such a state that the tip end 10a of the core material 10 partially protrudes toward the sole surface of the core material 11,
Next, a plurality of layers of FRP molding material 12 such as prepreg or wet method are wound and coated around the core material 11, and at the same time, the inside, outside, or internal face of the head main body of the FRP molding material 12 is coated.
A face plate 1 made of hardened FRP is installed in part or all of the parts corresponding to the sole and back parts.
3. Temporarily hold other members such as the sole member 14 or back member 15 made of a metal material such as brass as necessary, and furthermore, if necessary, use one or more sole members pre-impregnated with liquid synthetic resin as necessary. A thin fiber bundle 16 consisting of several strands is placed at key points.
Wrap it around key points to bind the whole thing (see Figures 3 and 4). To bind such fiber bundles, for example, the thin fiber bundles 16 are tied in a twilled or hoop shape over the face portion 1a, sole portion 1b, or back portion 1c of the head body 1, and then tied in a hoop shape at the neck portion 1d.
is also carried out in a similar manner, the outer periphery of the FRP molding material 12 is tied around at important points,
The binding state is arbitrary as long as it prevents the reinforcing fibers of the FRP molding material from protruding unnecessarily. As the reinforcing fibers of the FRP molding material 12, carbon fibers, glass fibers, Kepler, etc., alone or in a suitable combination, knitted in a hollow weave shape are preferably used.
In addition, a mat-like material is used, and by superimposing Surf S mat or satin cloth on the outside of the head on the hollow weave body, the smoothness of the surface and the ability to follow the shape are improved. It is recommended to use roving cloths. Then, such a head molding material 10,
11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 are placed in a mold consisting of a pair of left and right split molds 17 and 18 having an outer shape of the head (see Fig. 5), and when the mold is clamped,
After positioning and fixing the tip 10a of the core material 10 and the portion corresponding to the neck side of the head body between the abutting parts of the split molds 17 and 18 and clamping the mold, hot pressure molding is performed, and after releasing the mold, A club head as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 is obtained by removing the core metal material 10 and separately inserting a club shaft.

い。 In addition, in this invention, an example was shown in which the fiber bundle bound on the FRP molding material is impregnated with liquid synthetic resin as necessary, but it is possible to use a fiber bundle that is not impregnated with liquid synthetic resin. FRP sometimes leaches
It is also possible to form an integral part of the FRP molding material by impregnating it with excess resin liquid in the molding material, thereby smoothing the surface and preventing the head molding material from shifting during mold clamping. The fibers constituting the fiber bundle are preferably the same as the reinforcing fibers of the FRP molding material described above. Further, as another example of the present invention, on the bound fiber bundle, 1
~ Two pieces of cloth may be attached and laminated; in this case, when the mold is clamped, a part of the outermost layer of cloth is sandwiched between the mold fitting contact parts L (see Fig. 5), and the remaining cloth is The part can be integrally cured with the fiber bundle and the FRP molding material at or near the attached position, but
In this case as well, since the main strength is maintained by the reinforcing fibers in the FRP molding material below the bound fiber bundles, there is no effect on the decrease in strength.

用性にすぐれた効果を奏するものである。 As explained above, in this invention, the outer peripheral surface is
When the head molding material wrapped and coated with the FRP molding material is inserted into a pair of split molds, the molds are clamped, and heat-pressed, a fiber bundle is wrapped and bound on top of the FRP molding material. This prevents unnecessary tightening or tension of the FRP molding material by the corners of the split mold during mold clamping as in the conventional method, and the pinching of the FRP molding material at the mold fitting abutment part of the split mold. This can be prevented by binding the bundles, and it also facilitates the insertion of the head molding material into the split molds, which can completely or even lessen the occurrence of burrs, so that it is possible to prevent burrs from forming on both sides of the parting line. This has excellent practical effects, such as being able to sufficiently maintain the continuity of the reinforcing fibers and reliably preventing a decrease in strength.
