This method estimates the state of the GTO from the input/output voltage and input/output current of the GTO switching circuit, and does not directly measure the state of the GTO, so it has the disadvantage that accurate measurements cannot be made if load fluctuations or voltage fluctuations occur. It was hot.

Since the GTO will extinguish if the current is below a certain level, a latching circuit was devised to prevent the arc from extinguishing by allowing a current higher than the latching current to flow. The current flowing from this latching circuit is
When GTO is ignited, it flows, and when it is extinguished, it stops flowing. Therefore, by measuring this current,
GTO status can be directly measured. With this method, even if load fluctuations or voltage fluctuations occur in the main circuit, the current from the latching circuit will always be
Since it is constant, the state of the GTO can be measured accurately.

An embodiment of the present invention will be described below with reference to FIG. FIG. 1 shows a latching circuit equipped with a light emitting diode 1 for detecting the current flowing from the latching circuit to the GTO. The current 10 can be measured by the light emitting diode 1 connected in parallel with the resistor 5. In addition, 8 is the anode of GTO,
9 is connected to the cathode of GTO. By measuring the light from this light emitting diode, the state of the GTO can be measured. Note that the diode bridge 2 is for rectification, and the resistor 3 and capacitor 6 form a filter. Further, the resistor 4 is used to limit the current flowing through the light emitting diode.

Furthermore, although a light emitting diode is used in this embodiment, the present invention is not limited to this, and any light emitting diode may be used as long as it allows the current of the latching circuit to flow therethrough.

The invention is not limited to this, and can be applied to GTO circuits connected in series or parallel circuits, as shown in Figure 2.

なる。 Further, using FIG. 3, an example of GTO circuit control in this embodiment will be shown. Each GTO 13a', 13b' has a latching circuit 11 with a current detection circuit.
a and 11b are attached, and currents 10a and 10b are applied. Here, two ignition signals come at the same time,
If one of the GTOs, 13b', fails to ignite, the applied voltage will apply only to 13b', causing damage. To prevent this, an ignition signal is issued, and after a certain time,
If both GTOs are not firing, the extinguishing signal will be output. By doing this, it is possible to protect the GTO that has failed to ignite. Note that it is necessary to send the signal detected by the current in the latching circuit to the control circuit, but in this embodiment using a light emitting diode, it can be easily sent using an optical fiber. Note that this control method is just one example, but if the state of the GTO can be directly measured as in this embodiment, various controls will be easier to perform.

According to the present invention, the state of the GTO can be measured at a constant level, making control easier.
