However, since there is some coloring, the color becomes uneven when used, and the difference between the presence and absence of a transparent conductive film is visible. In transmissive liquid crystal display elements (Japanese Patent Publication No. 61-26668, etc.) used in combination with a backlight, a relatively thick transparent conductive film is formed because absorption of light by the transparent conductive film is not much of a problem. For this reason, in a backlight type liquid crystal display device, the color unevenness becomes noticeable because the transparent conductive film is thick, and becomes unsightly.

In addition to the patterns of electrodes and connection lines necessary for display operation,
A dummy pattern that is necessary for the operation of each of these patterns was formed, and this transparent conductive film dummy pattern for preventing color unevenness was provided with its own external connection terminal for grounding, and it was grounded independently from other electrode groups. .

The phenomenon of noise being added to the dummy pattern does not occur. Therefore, abnormal malfunctions such as abnormal lighting of the scanning electrodes will not occur.

In addition to patterns such as paths, a dummy pattern made of a transparent conductive film is formed so that as little as possible remains on the inner surface of the substrate where there is no transparent conductive film, except for the insulating gaps necessary for the operation of each of these patterns. Suppresses the occurrence of uneven color.

There were problems such as.

In the figure, 1 is an upper substrate transparent electrode (for example, a signal electrode), 2 is a lower substrate transparent electrode (for example, a scan electrode), 3 is an external connection terminal,
Reference numeral 4 designates a grounding external connection terminal unique to a dummy pattern newly provided according to the present invention, 5 is a dummy pattern, 6 is an upper substrate, 7 is a lower substrate, and 8 is an effective display area.

This dummy pattern 5 is grounded via a unique grounding external connection terminal 4 according to the present invention. Therefore, even if the dummy pattern 5 receives noise, its potential does not fluctuate, and abnormal operations such as abnormal lighting of the nearest display electrode as in the conventional case do not occur.
