[Detailed Description of the Invention] [Industrial Field of Application] The present invention relates to a caulking contact in which a contact member made of a noble metal material is provided on a base made of a base metal material.

This type of caulked contact is commonly used as a means of reducing the cost of the contact.

For example, the caulking contact disclosed in Japanese Utility Model Application No. 114458/1983 is a typical example. In other words, this product has a base made of a base metal material, which is formed into steps of a small diameter part, a medium diameter part, a large diameter part, and a small diameter part, and the entire periphery of the small diameter part, except for the root part, is made of silver, which is a precious metal material. It has been decorated with a matte finish. The medium diameter portion is then inserted into the through hole of the contact plate (terminal plate in this example), and is plastically deformed and fixed to the contact plate by caulking.

In this example, the contact member is the small-diameter part that is silver-plated, but chips made of precious metal materials that are fixed by welding, cold welding, or brazing have also been proposed (for example, the 84560), such a tip may therefore be replaced by this small diameter section.

In this configuration, since the middle diameter portion is plastically deformed in the caulking process, it is possible to prevent cracks from occurring in the contact member made of a noble metal material.

In the case of the conventional type described above, cracking of the contact member made of precious metal material can be prevented, but the axial length of the middle diameter portion is equal to the thickness of the contact plate plus the caulking allowance. . Therefore, when trying to meet demands such as miniaturization of contacts and suppression of temperature rise, problems arise especially when a chip (contact member) made of a noble metal material is provided on the caulking side.

This invention was created in view of the above reasons.
The purpose of this is to reduce the size of contacts and suppress temperature rises without mechanically affecting the contact members and joints made of noble metals provided on bases made of base metals during the contact caulking process. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a caulking contact that can achieve the following.

[Means for Solving the Problems] In order to solve the problems, the caulking contact of the present invention has a large diameter head, a small diameter shaft portion having a predetermined axial length including the caulking allowance, and A caulking contact comprising a base made of a base metal material and a contact member made of a noble metal material provided at least on an end face of the shaft part, the shaft part of the base having an outer diameter that is similar to that of the contact member. The contact member is sufficiently larger than the outer diameter, and a flat surface portion having a diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of the contact member is formed on the end face of the contact member by being recessed from the end face.

In the crimping process, such caulking contacts plastically deform the peripheral edge between the outer periphery of the shaft portion and the outer periphery of the flat surface portion, so that mechanical effects such as cracking of the contact member and peeling of the joint between the contact member and the flat surface portion are avoided. Moreover, since the flat surface of the shaft, which is the joint surface of the contact member, is recessed from the end surface, the height of the contact is low, and the actual circuit length of the base metal material is short. , and the cross-sectional area of the long portion of the electrical path is increased, making it possible to downsize the contact and suppress temperature rise.

The base 1 is made of a base metal material such as copper, and
It consists of a large-diameter head 3 and a small-diameter shaft 2. Since the shaft portion 2 is inserted into the through hole 7 of the contact plate 6 and crimped, its outer diameter is approximately equal to the inner diameter of the through hole 7, and its axial length is set including the crimping allowance. The dimensions shall be as follows. The shape of the end face side of the shaft portion 2 is a key part of the present invention, and will be described later.

The contact member 5 is a chip made of a precious metal material such as gold, silver, platinum, etc., and is formed to have a diameter sufficiently smaller than the outer diameter of the shaft portion 2, and is formed on the head 3 and each end surface of the shaft portion 2. is fixed to. Note that whether or not the contact member 5 is fixed to the end surface of the head 3 has no direct relation to the present invention, but in this embodiment, the outer diameter is 2.3 mm, and both the contact surface side and the joint surface side are convex. It has a curved surface in the form of a shape. This is to ensure the required thickness of the noble metal material portion and to keep the contact height low.

Next, to explain the shape of the end surface side of the shaft portion 2, which is the main part of the present invention, the end surface of the shaft portion 2 has a flat surface portion 2a having a diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of the contact member 5, which is recessed from the end surface. It is formed as follows.

Specifically, the outer diameter of the contact member 5 is 2.1 mm, the thickness of the contact plate 6 is 0.3 mm, and the inner diameter of the through hole 7 is 4 mm.
As such, the axial dimension from the base end of the shaft portion 2 to the flat surface portion 2a was set to 0.5 mm. Further, the caulking allowance (the amount of protrusion from the contact plate 6) of the shaft portion 2 is about 0.6 to 1.0 mm, although it is related to the outer diameter of the flat surface portion 2a. As a result, the peripheral edge portion 4 existing between the outer periphery of the shaft portion 2 and the outer periphery of the flat surface portion 2a appears as if it were raised from the flat surface portion 2a.

Next, the caulking process will be explained based on FIG. 3. First, as shown in a, the shaft portion 2 of the base 1 to which the contact members 5, 5 are fixed is inserted into the through hole 7 of the contact plate 6. As a result, the head 3 rests on the upper surface of the contact plate 6, and the peripheral edge 4 protrudes from the lower surface of the contact plate 6.

The product in this state is deformed under pressure by an upper mold X and a lower mold Y as shown in b. In this example, the upper mold

Since the caulking contact of the present invention is configured as described above, in the caulking process, the peripheral edge between the outer periphery of the shaft portion and the outer periphery of the flat surface portion is plastically deformed, thereby preventing cracks in the contact member and damage between the contact member and the flat surface portion. There is no mechanical effect such as peeling of the joint, and since the flat surface of the shaft, which is the joint surface of the contact member, is recessed from the end surface, the height of the contact is low. The actual length of the electrical path of the material portion is short and the cross-sectional area of the long electrical path portion is large, making it possible to downsize the contact and suppress temperature rise.
