BACKGROUND ART In press molds and the like for press-forming steel plates, such as the bodies of automobiles, it is necessary to smoothen and polish the protrusions of the molds that come into contact with the steel plates. If the protrusions are insufficiently polished, friction will increase between the protrusions of the mold and the steel plate to be press-formed, resulting in problems such as the steel plate being torn during press-forming.

For this reason, conventionally, an operator uses abrasive paper or abrasive cloth and presses the abrasive paper or the like with the palm of the hand or the tip of a finger to abrade the protrusion of the mold, and the abrasive paper is sequentially changed from coarse abrasive paper to fine abrasive paper. I replaced it and polished it until it had a mirror-like smooth surface.

Conventional polishing tools such as abrasive paper and cloth are pressed with the operator's palm or fingertips, and the mold is polished with the pressure, so it is not possible to polish a large area at once.
It has been difficult to finish a uniformly smooth surface because the worker gets tired and the work efficiency decreases, and because the force acting on the abrasive paper is uneven. In addition, polishing required skill and was a difficult task.

The polishing tool of the present invention includes an elastic shell body which is formed into a curved cylindrical shape with a compressible fluid sealed therein, and an abrasive material is adhered to the outer peripheral surface, and the elastic shell body is rotated around an axis. It is comprised of a rotary shaft mechanism that is rotatably supported and movable in a direction orthogonal to the coaxial center, and a variable pressure mechanism that communicates with a fluid pressure source and controls supply and discharge of the compressible fluid.

The polishing object in the polishing tool of the present invention has elasticity, and has an abrasive material held on its outer surface by an adhesive or the like. A commercially available abrasive paper may be adhered to the outer surface of the shell. A space is formed inside the polishing object, and the space is filled with a variable amount of fluid, and the amount is controlled by a variable pressure mechanism to supply and discharge the compressible fluid to and from the fluid pressure source. To do something. In other words, for example, if a valve and an inlet/output pipe are connected to the space so that the amount of the fluid can be adjusted, the pressure in the space can be adjusted freely, and the convex portion (or concave portion) of the mold, which is the workpiece, can be adjusted. It can be immediately adapted to any shape or size.

The shape of the polishing object in its natural state is, for example, a curved cylinder like a rugby ball.

This is because, for example, in press dies used for bending steel plates for automobile bodies, especially those intended for local machining such as protrusions, the elastic shell tends to escape near both ends, so polishing is difficult. This is because it becomes extremely easy to do.

The rotating shaft mechanism has a rotating shaft for rotating the polishing object, and the rotating shaft is rotated by a power source such as a motor or air pressure. The number of rotations may be variable or constant. Although it is easier to rotate the polishing object when the rotating shaft passes through the axial center of the polishing object, it may be configured so that it does not pass through it.

It should be noted that the polishing tool can be mechanized and automated to improve work efficiency, instead of requiring the operator to hold the handle.

Since the polishing tool according to the present invention moves the polishing object while pressing it against the surface of the workpiece while rotating it around the axis of the rotating shaft, it is compared to a polishing tool that simply moves the polishing object by pressing it without rotating it. Processing efficiency and work efficiency can be improved, and the pressure within the space of the polishing object can be adjusted freely.
The shape and size of the convex portion (or concave portion) of the mold, which is the workpiece, can be immediately matched.

An air passage is formed in the center of the rotating shaft 2, and an air storage chamber 1d is formed in the bearing portion 1a. The chamber 1d is connected to a pressurized air source by a hose 6 via a variable pressure mechanism. Here, the bearing portion 1a and the support portion of the rotating shaft 2 must be airtight.

In such a configuration, when using the polishing tool, the operator holds the end of the handle 1 while rotating the motor M to rotate the rotating shaft 2 and the polishing object 20 integrally. Polishing is performed by reciprocating the surface of the workpiece while pressing it against the protrusions and recesses of the mold.

In addition, since the air pressure inside the polishing object 20 can be freely changed, the optimum pressure can be obtained by changing the air pressure according to the size of the protrusion of the mold, etc., and efficient polishing work can be achieved. It can be carried out.
