Abstract

PURPOSE:To surely connect a molded member by continuously preparing a cover member which has a gate-shaped section and is joined with a weatherstrip and whose both leg edges are made thin, onto a part where the molded member is connected, through the extrusion molding, and tearing-removing the cover member after the surface treatment. CONSTITUTION:A cover member 4 is continuously formed integrally with the both edge parts 34 of a weatherstrip 3A in the longitudinal direction. The cover member 4 has a gate shape having a sectional surface in an inverted U-figure form, and the both leg edges are joined with the both edges in the width direction of the edge part 34. The leg part 41 is made thinner towards the top edge. A lubricity applying surface processing agent S is sprayed onto the door glass sliding surfaces of a seal lip 32 and a bottom surface 31 by a sprayer 5, onto the weatherstrip 3A onto which the cover member 4 is installed, and the spraying onto the edge surface 34 is prevented. After spraying, the cover member 4 is easily tearing-removed at the both leg edges, and a molded member is surely connected with the edge part 34 from which the surface processing agent S is removed.

For example, as shown in FIG. 1, a weather strip 3 is attached around the inner periphery of a window opening of an automobile door. FIG. 2 shows a connecting corner portion (section C in FIG. 1) between a vertical weather strip 3A along the door frame 1 and a horizontal weather strip 3B along the belt line of the door. The vertical weather strip 3A is of an extruded shape and has seal lips 32 facing each other at both ends of the opening of the main body having a U-shaped cross section, so as to sandwich the door glass 2 which moves up and down from the inside and outside.

The weather strip 3B extending in the lateral direction along the belt line consists of two strips, one on the inside of the vehicle and one on the outside of the vehicle, with respect to the door glass 2, and each seal lip sandwiches the door glass 2 from the inside and outside. These two weather strips are connected by a molding material 3C molded into a corner shape as shown in FIG. Note that FIG. 2 only shows the molding material on the inside of the vehicle, and omits the molding material on the outside of the vehicle. 33 is a seal lip of the molding material 3C.

By the way, in the extrusion-molded weather strip 3A, following extrusion, as shown in FIG. The surface is treated with urethane, oil-based silicone, etc. to impart lubricity. In this case, since the surface treatment agent S inevitably adheres to the edge portion 34 of the weather strip body to which the molding material 3C is connected, the molding material 3

[Problems to be Solved by the Present Invention] The present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned circumstances, and when surface treatment is applied to an extruded weather strip and then a molding material is connected, the molding The purpose is to prevent the surface treatment agent from scattering to the joints of the materials and to improve the bonding of the molded materials.

[Means for Solving the Problems] The present invention provides a cover member that has a gate-shaped cross section and has both leg ends joined to the weatherstrip with a thin wall to cover the part to which a molding material is to be connected when extruding the weatherstrip. The method is characterized in that the cover member is continuously shaped, then a surface treatment is performed, the cover member is torn off, and a molding material is connected to the removed portion.

[Operations and Effects] Since the cover member is supported by the weather strip at both leg ends, the shape is stable and the adhesion of the surface treatment agent to the portion covered by the cover member is reliably prevented. I can do it. The cover member can then be easily torn off from the leg end after surface treatment. Thus, the molding material can be connected to the extruded weatherstrip without any surface treatment agent adhering to it.

The cover member 4 is made of the same material as the weather strip 3A, and has a gate-shaped cross section with an inverted U shape, and both leg ends meet the edge portions 34.
It is joined to both ends in the width direction. The leg portion 41 has a thinner wall in the distal direction, and the leg end can be easily torn off. This cover member 4 is formed by extrusion molding simultaneously from a die of an extruder in close proximity to both end edges 34, and after extrusion, is pressed into contact with the end edges 34 of the weather strip 3A, thereby being continuously formed.

Therefore, the cover member 4 can be formed simultaneously with the extrusion molding of the weather strip 3A, without requiring a separate process, and since the cover member 4 is supported by both legs 41, the shape It is stable and can reliably prevent the surface treatment agent S from adhering to the edge portion 34 during surface treatment, and can be easily torn off at both leg ends after surface treatment. Since the molding material 3C is bonded to the edge portion 34 to which no surface treatment agent S is attached, good bonding can be achieved without being affected by the surface treatment agent S.
