Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce electric current consumption with an increase in the number of light emitting diodes to be lighted as compared to the display circuit of conventional light emitting diodes by connecting a resistor and plural unit circuits in series and connecting the same between the output terminals of a DC constant voltage source. CONSTITUTION:This display circuit has the unit circuit 1 constituted by connecting the 2nd light emitting diode D1b in the direction of the same polarity as the polarity of the 1st light emitting diode D1a in parallel to the series circuit constituted by connecting the 1st light emitting diode D1a and a switch S1 in series, the resistor R1 and the DC constant voltage source. The resistor R1 and the plural unit circuits 1 to 40 are connected in series and are connected between the output terminals of the DC constant voltage source. The wasteful electric power consumed by the driving resistor of the light emitting diode is reduced in this way. There is substantially no fluctuation in the current consumption over the entire part of the circuit by the lighting and putting out of the light emitting diodes and, therefore, there is no adverse influence on the power source and the electric power consumption is reduced as compared with the conventional light emitting diode display circuit as the more light emitting diodes are lighted up.

In addition, since each unit circuit (la to 40a) is connected in parallel to a constant voltage source, the current consumption increases in proportion to the number of light emitting diodes (Di to D40) lit. Power consumption fluctuated greatly during its operation. As described above, the conventional light emitting diode display circuit has problems to be solved.

The unit circuit 1 is constructed by connecting a light emitting diode Dlb in parallel to a series circuit formed by connecting one end of a switch S1 to the anode of a light emitting diode Dla. In the unit circuit 1, the cathode of the light emitting diode Dlb is connected to the cathode of the light emitting diode Dla, and the anode of the light emitting diode Dlb is connected to the other end of the switch S1. Other unit circuits (2 to 40) also include switches (82 to 540) and two light emitting diodes (D2a to
D40a, D2b to D40b), and this parallel circuit is similar to the unit circuit 1. In each unit circuit (1 to 40), one light emitting diode (Dlb to D40b) is always lit and the other light emitting diode (D1a to D40a) is connected to a switch (81 to 5).
40) is lit when closed, and the latter of them <D

~40) are connected in series, so the lighting and turning off of each of the display light emitting diodes (Dla to D40b) has almost no effect on the brightness of the other display light emitting diodes (Dla to D40a) when they are turned on. In the example, 40 unit circuits (1 to 40) are connected in series, and 40 light emitting diodes are connected in series.
The voltage drop in this part reaches about 40V, and the power wasted in the resistor R1 is small. In addition, light emitting diodes (
The variation in power consumption of the entire circuit due to the lighting and extinguishing of Dla to D40a) is also much smaller than that of the conventional circuit shown in FIG. 2. Compared to display circuits, the more light-emitting diodes that are lit, the lower the current consumption, and generally n
When each light emitting diode is turned on, it becomes about 2/n of the conventional light emitting diode display circuit shown in FIG.

(Effects of the Invention) As explained in detail above, according to the present invention, in a light emitting diode display circuit using a constant voltage source with a high power supply voltage, wasted power consumed by the driving resistor of the light emitting diode can be reduced. You can do less. In addition, there is almost no change in the current consumption of the entire circuit due to turning on and off the light-emitting diodes, so there is no negative effect on the t source, and the more light-emitting diodes that are turned on, the lower the power consumption compared to conventional light-emitting diode display circuits. 0 The present invention has the above-mentioned effects.
