[Detailed Description of the Invention] Industrial Field of Application The present invention is applicable to a machine that automatically inserts axial type electronic components having different lead wire diameters and component body diameters in a mixed manner according to the component dimensions. The present invention relates to an automatic insertion height setting method for automatically adjusting the height of an insertion head.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION FIG. 3 is a diagram showing the vicinity of the head of an axial electronic component automatic insertion machine equipped with a mechanism for adjusting the insertion height using a pulse motor. In this figure, reference numeral 1 denotes a component supply section, which holds electronic components 2 taped in a band shape and feeds them out one by one. Reference numeral 3 designates a head portion, and a cutter unit 4, which is a part of the head portion, has the role of swinging to pick up the component 2 and insert it into the printed circuit board 5. Reference numeral 6 denotes a pulse motor section which has a mechanism for moving the entire head 3 up and down and is used to adjust the insertion height.

The reason why it is necessary to adjust the insertion height in this device will be explained. FIG. 4 is a diagram immediately after the cutter unit 4 inserts the component. The cutter unit 4 has a V-shaped 4& cut at the tip, and the parts 2
By inserting the lead portion 2a while inserting it, a stable insertion motion ft is obtained. The thick broken line drawn at the tip of the cutter unit 4 in FIG. 4 represents the bottom of this groove 4a. In this figure, the main body of the component 20 is the printed circuit board 6.
It is correctly inserted because it rests on the surface without any gaps. However, since there are axial electronic components with various body diameters and lead wire diameters even within the standard range, this machine can also insert these components. Let us now consider the case where an electronic component smaller than the electronic component depicted in FIG. 4 is inserted. If the cutter unit 4 descends only to the same height as shown in FIG. 4, the main body of the electronic component 20 will be suspended in the air and will not be in a stable state. Therefore, when processing small electronic components, it is necessary to lower the cutter unit 4.

The insertion height for each component can be found as H, knee (D1+d1) using the dimensions shown in FIG. Therefore, with this machine, in addition to the insertion hole data, it is necessary to check the dimensions of the parts and dl data in advance and add attachments at each step. In addition, in Fig. 4, Dl is the main body diameter of the electronic component,
d is the lead diameter of the electronic component, and Hl is the insertion height of the cutter.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention As described above, in order to determine the insertion height data, it is necessary to examine the data of the electronic component in advance and input it manually, which takes time for preliminary setup. There is also the risk of inputting incorrect data, which may damage the electronic component itself.

Means for Solving the Problems In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, the present invention performs image recognition of several parts of the recognition unit parts provided in the supply section before inserting the parts to obtain a total dimension of 1tt1+, and then inserts the parts. At times, the height of the insertion head relative to the printed circuit board is adjusted.

Effects of the Invention As described above, the present invention includes a component supply section that can hold axial type electronic components and feed them at regular pitches, and a head that picks up the components from this supply section and inserts them into any hole on a printed circuit board. There is no need to manually enter the component dimensions in advance, and the raw data of the inserted components can be used, so pre-setup time can be saved without reducing the insertion height. This dramatically improves the accuracy of insertion and contributes to higher insertion reliability.
