  1. 【実用新案登録請求の範囲】 １ 印字ヘツド１と、 該印字ヘツド１を担持するキヤリア２と、 該キヤリア２を駆動する駆動手段と を備える印字ヘツド駆動装置１００において、 前記駆動手段が、 第１平面と該第１平面に対し略直交する第２平
    面を有する弾性体３１と、 前記第１平面に着設され、前記弾性体に一方向
    の振動を励振する第１の励振体３２と、 前記第２平面に着設され、前記弾性体に前記一
    方向とは異なる他方向の振動を励振する第２の励
    振体３３と、 前記一方向の振動と前記他方向の振動の合成に
    より略楕円振動が励起される振動面３４とを含む
    超音波振動子３ を含むことを特徴とする印字ヘツド駆動装置。 ２ 請求項１記載の印字ヘツド駆動装置１００に
    おいて、前記弾性体に励振される前記一方向の振
    動が前記弾性体３１の屈曲振動であり、かつ前記
    他方向の振動が前記弾性体３１の伸縮振動である
