In particular, it relates to a headlamp tilting device that uses an electric motor to adjust the vertical inclination of the optical axis of the headlamp, and includes an electric motor, a movable member that transmits the movement of the motor to the headlamp, and a device that detects the inclination angle of the headlamp. The sensors are arranged in a direction that takes up as little installation space as possible, and are integrated into a single casing to form a module.
The aim is to make the device more compact and easier to install.

Otherwise, the vehicle may be in a state where the headlights are tilted backwards, which changes the standard illumination angle of the headlights relative to the road surface, impairing driving safety. In addition, if the headlights point upwards due to the rearward tilting, the driver of an oncoming vehicle may be seriously dazzled. There is a danger of giving it away.

In such a case, it is necessary to detect the inclination angle of the headlamp by an appropriate means, and based on the detection result, stop the drive section to maintain the inclination angle of the headlamp in an appropriate state.
One such control method is the one shown in FIG. 1 in which the tilt angle of the headlamp is electrically detected and the electric motor is controlled based on this. This headlamp leveling system includes an optical axis detection section consisting of an optical axis detection variable resistor VR2 whose resistance value changes depending on the angle of the optical axis of the headlamp and obtains a terminal voltage of a magnitude corresponding to the resistance value; Optical axis setting variable resistor VR 1 allows you to set the angle of the optical axis of the headlight by changing the resistance value by operating a knob, etc., and obtains a terminal voltage of a magnitude corresponding to the setting amount. an optical axis setting section, and a first comparator COM 1 that generates a detection signal when the output voltage of the optical axis setting section is higher than the output voltage of the optical axis detection section.
and a second comparator that generates a detection signal when the output voltage of the optical axis detection section is greater than the output of the optical axis setting section.
COM 2 , drive motors ML and MR that rotate forward and reverse depending on the polarity of the voltage applied to both terminals X and Y to move the optical axis of the headlight in the vertical direction, and the first comparator COM 1 .
and the output of the second comparator COM 2 , and when the detection signal is generated from the first comparator COM 1 and when the detection signal is generated from the second comparator COM 2 . The power supply E and the drive motors ML, MR are electrically connected so that the polarities of the voltages applied to both terminals X, Y of the drive motors ML, MR are opposite to each other, and the first comparator COM 1 and the second comparator COM 1 It consists of a switching circuit CHC that electrically cuts off the power supply E and the drive motors ML and MR when no detection signal is generated from any of the comparators COM2 .
Therefore, by appropriately selecting the resistance value of the optical axis setting variable resistor VR, the drive motors ML and MR are rotated, the headlamp is tilted accordingly, and the resistance of the optical axis detection variable resistor VR2 is changed. The drive motors ML and MR are operated until the value changes and the output voltage VD of the optical axis detection section becomes equal to the output voltage VS of the optical axis setting section.
is rotated, and when VD=VS, drive motors ML and MR stop.

At the same time, a mechanism for tilting the headlamp must also be placed close to the headlamp. In this case, if the mechanism for tilting the headlamp and the detector such as a variable resistor are separate parts, it is difficult to arrange them so that their relative positions are correct, and the workability is also reduced. Moreover, there are many disadvantages such as the need for a large amount of space for arranging and working with these parts.

A sphere 32 is integrally formed at the tip of the screw shaft 30. Further, a portion of the helical shaft portion 30 near the tip is partially chamfered, and a rack portion 34 extending in the axial direction is formed in the chamfered portion. The screw shaft portion 30 of the operating rod 14 is screwed into the screw hole 28 of the worm wheel 22, and
The tip of the operating rod 14 protrudes from the casing 10. Therefore, when the drive motor 12 is rotated, the rotation is caused by the output shaft 18 and the worm gear 2.
0 to the worm wheel 22, and when the worm wheel 22 is rotated,
Depending on the direction of rotation, the operating rod 14 is moved forward or backward. In this case, in order for the operating rod 14 to move in the axial direction due to the rotation of the worm wheel 22, the operating rod 14 must be prevented from rotating. will be described later.

The resistor has a continuously adjustable sliding contact mounted on the drive motor 12 so that its resistance value is continuously changed as the rotating shaft 36 rotates. Output shaft 1
The drive motor 12 is arranged on an axis parallel to the drive motor 8 . A pinion 38 is fixed to the rotating shaft 36 of the potentiometer 16, and the pinion 38 is attached to the helical shaft 30 of the operating rod 14.
It is engaged with a rack part 34 provided in the. The operating rod 14 is prevented from rotating because the pinion is engaged with the rack portion 34 thereof. Therefore, when the worm wheel 22 is rotated, the operating rod 14 is moved in its axial direction. It will be. Furthermore, when the operating rod 14 is moved in its axial direction, the potentiometer 1
The rotary shaft 36 of No. 6 is rotated, and the resistance value of the potentiometer 16 is thereby changed. Moreover, since the drive motor 12 and the potentiometer 16 are arranged side by side, the arrangement space can be minimized.

The rod has a thread groove that is screwed into a screw hole formed in the center of the worm wheel, and a rack that extends in the axial direction of the rod is formed in a portion near the tip of the thread groove. , the potentiometer is arranged side by side with the motor on an axis parallel to the output shaft of the motor, a pinion fixed to the rotating shaft of the potentiometer is meshed with the rack and the rod is Since it is prevented from rotating relative to the casing, the tilting mechanism of the headlamp and its detection part are arranged so as to take up as little installation space as possible and are integrated into a module, allowing the casing to be placed at an appropriate position on the vehicle body. The device can be installed simply by attaching it, and there is no need for precise positional adjustment between the tilting mechanism section and the detection section as in the conventional case, and work efficiency can be greatly improved. In addition, since the entire system is compact, the installation space is small, and the work space required for installation is also small, which has many advantages.
