Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable discrete detection of the dimension of a component to be detected, irrespective of a dimensional error of another component to e detected, by a method wherein whether the dimension is in the allowable limits or not is detected/by a pair of sensors from a time difference in detection of connecting parts in the opposite ends of the component to be detected. CONSTITUTION:By driving a screw 27 for fixation tightly after adjustment, a fitting wall 12, a slide plate 18 and a slide body 22 are brought into pressure contact with each other and thereby optical sensors 31 and 32 are positioned. When a wire rod 1 is moved in the direction of an arrow, a sensor 31 detects a connecting part 1A on the rear side of a terminal 1B in the direction of movement and a detection pulse is outputted from this sensor 31. At a position to which the wire rod 1 is moved slightly in the direction of the arrow, subsequently, another connecting part 1A on the front side of the terminal 1B in the direction of movement is detected by the sensor 32 and the detection pulse is outputted from the sensor 32. The wire rod 1 is always moved at a prescribed speed of conveyance, and therefore a discrimination between good and bad articles is made by comparing a difference between the times of generation of the detection pulses of the sensors 31 and 32 with a reference time set beforehand.

<Prior art> Such a dimension detector is used in a terminal manufacturing system in which a wire is processed to form a plurality of terminals into a shape in which they are continuously connected in a state where they can be easily cut and separated, or in which each terminal in such a state is In a terminal attachment system for inserting a terminal into an electronic component or the like, it is used to determine whether each terminal is within an allowable size range. This type of conventional dimension detector generally has a structure as shown in FIGS. 6 to 8. That is, it is composed of a detection lever 2 which is rotatable about a support bin 3 as a fulcrum, and a limit switch 5 in which a roller 7 rotatably attached to the tip of a contact piece 6 is brought into contact with the detection lever 2.

<Problems to be Solved by the Invention> By the way, since the permissible size range for determining a good terminal IG is determined, the allowable size range is determined for the processing position in the terminal manufacturing system, and for the terminal feeding claw in the terminal mounting system. It is necessary to install them as close as possible. This is because when moving away from the machining position or the terminal feed claw, the feed pitch of each terminal IG and 1B that exists between them, that is, each difference with respect to the standard dimension, and the feed pinch error due to the feed claw are accumulated, resulting in a large error. As shown in Fig. 8, a malfunction may occur in which the limit switch 5 is turned on even though a good terminal 1G has passed and is stopped.
Detection accuracy decreases significantly.

However, since these terminals IG and 1B are generally very small in shape, the configuration for installing a dimension detector close to the processing position and the terminal feed claw becomes extremely complicated, and the detector is High precision is required to position the detector in the state shown in FIG.

The present invention has been made in view of such conventional problems, and it is possible to determine whether or not the dimensions are within the allowable size range even if the positioning is not required with precision at the processing position or at a location away from the feed jaw. The technical problem is to provide a dimension detector that can detect the size of the object with high precision.

<Means for Solving the Problems> In the present invention, as a technical means for achieving the above-mentioned problems, a dimension detector is configured as follows. That is, a continuous connecting member in which parts to be detected of the same type are continuously connected in a line with a connecting part of a small piece interposed between them is fed at a constant feed pitch corresponding to the standard dimension of the parts to be detected and at a constant rate. In a dimension detector that is installed in a device that moves intermittently at a conveying speed and detects whether the length of each of the detected members being moved in the moving direction is within an allowable dimension range, the continuous connecting member A slide plate equipped with a first sensor for detecting the connection part is provided on the base body having a guide groove through which the connection part is inserted, and is movable in parallel to the moving direction of the continuous connection member. A sensor mount equipped with a second sensor for detecting the sensor is attached so as to be movable in the same direction as the first sensor, and the sensor mount is attached to the slide plate so as to move toward and away from the first sensor. The present invention is characterized in that it is equipped with a fixing means for fixing the slide plate and the sensor mount to the base body, on which an operating body is mounted to adjust the distance between the two sensors by moving in the direction.

<Operation> First, operate the operating body to move the sensor mounting base with respect to the slide plate equipped with the first sensor, and adjust the distance between both sensors to match the standard dimensions of the detected part to be detected. . By moving the slide plate on which both sensors are held at the adjusted interval relative to the base body,
The slide plate and the sensor mount, that is, both sensors are fixed to the base body by the fixing means, with the connecting portion on the front side in the moving direction of the detected component positioned between the two sensors.

Then, when the continuous connecting member is moved within the guide groove at a constant conveyance speed, the connecting portion located between the two sensors is detected by the second sensor. Here, since the spacing between both sensors is set to match the standard dimensions of the detected part, in the case of a good detected part that is within the allowable size range, the second sensor detects the movement of the detected part. At substantially the same time as detecting the front connection in the direction, the first sensor detects the rear connection of the detected component. On the other hand, in the case of a defective detected part that is outside the allowable size range, each sensor detects the corresponding connection part at a time difference. Therefore, since the conveyance speed of the continuous connection member is constant, it is possible to calculate the time difference between the detection of the connection part of both sensors that falls within the allowable size range, and therefore it is possible to calculate whether the time difference between the detection of the two sensors is within the set time or not. By comparison, it is possible to detect whether the detected component is within the allowable dimensions.

This dimension detector detects whether or not the detected part is within the permissible size range based on the time difference between the detection of the connection part at both ends of the detected part by a pair of sensors. The dimensions of only the corresponding detected parts can be individually detected, completely independent of the dimensional errors of the parts. Therefore, the dimensions can be detected with high accuracy even if the device is installed at a location away from the processing position or the conveyor feed claw, and the configuration is not complicated in any way.

Furthermore, in response to differences in the dimensions of the detected parts, it is sufficient to move the second sensor using the operating body and adjust the distance between the two sensors to match the dimensions of the detected parts. Positioning does not require particular precision, as it is sufficient to simply move the slide plate so that the connecting portion on the front side in the moving direction of the detected component is located between both sensors. Therefore, it can be installed in an extremely short time and easily, and can also be quickly applied to parts to be detected that have different dimensions.

First, after loosening the fixing screw 27 to the extent that it does not come out from the screw hole 30, the micro jack 24 is rotated to move the anvil portion 26, and the compression coil spring 25 presses it against the anvil portion 26. The second sensor mounting base 21 , which is attached thereto, moves integrally with the anvil part 26 while sliding on the second guide rail part 20 . Thereby, the distance between the two sensor mounts 17.21 is varied, and the distance X between the respective optical axes of the two optical sensors 31.32 is adjusted to the standard dimension length of the terminal to be detected. This adjustment can be made extremely accurately using the scale of the micro jack 24.

When the wire 1 is moved in the direction of the arrow from the state shown in FIG. 4(a), first the first optical sensor 3 is moved as shown in FIG. 4(b).
1 detects the notch IA on the rear side in the moving direction of the corresponding terminal 1B, and the first optical sensor 31 outputs a detection pulse as shown in FIG. 5(a). If it is a good terminal 1G with a standard dimension and length, both optical sensors 31 and 32 arranged at an interval of this standard dimension and length will detect the notch IA before and after the corresponding terminal IG at almost the same time. However, since a defective terminal IB whose length is shorter than the allowable dimension is located between both optical sensors 31 and 32, the wire rod 1 has moved slightly in the direction of the arrow from the position bl in the same figure. At the position shown in FIG. 5(C), the second optical sensor 32 detects the notch 1A on the front side in the moving direction of the corresponding terminal IB, and the first optical sensor 32 outputs a detection pulse as shown in FIG. 5(b). After that, the wire is fed by a predetermined feeding pitch and stops at the position dl in the figure.

Since the wire 1 is always moved at a constant conveyance speed, a comparison is made to see if the generation time difference Y between the detection pulses of both optical sensors 31 and 32 shown in FIG. 5 is within a preset reference time. Good products and defective products are then determined. Here, if the conveyance speed differs, the reference time for quality determination also differs, but the reference time can be easily calculated and set from the conveyance speed. Alternatively, the reference time may be calculated and stored in advance for each transport speed, and the reference time may be selected and set each time.

<Effects of the Invention> As described above, according to the dimension detector of the present invention, it is possible to determine whether or not the dimension is within the allowable dimension range based on the time difference between the detection of the connection portion at both ends of the detected part by the pair of sensors. Since the detection is configured, the dimensions of only the relevant detected part can be individually detected, completely unrelated to the dimensional errors of other detected parts. Therefore, dimensions can be detected with high precision even if the device is installed at a location away from the machining position, conveyance feed claw, etc., and the configuration is not complicated in any way.
