た。 However, in the case of such conventional vehicle radiators, they are used to lower the temperature of the cooling water as mentioned above, and no particular consideration is given to reducing vehicle engine noise. Not yet. Therefore, the noise emitted from the engine passes through the radiator and diffuses outside the vehicle from the radiator grille, and the vehicle radiator does not function at all to solve noise pollution.

のような関係から定まる。 In FIG. 1, 10 is an automobile (vehicle), and an engine 14 is housed in a front body 12 of the automobile 10. As shown in FIG. A radiator grill 16 is provided at the front end of the vehicle body 12, and a cooling fan 18 is provided at the front end of the engine 14. Radiator grill 16 inside the vehicle body 12
The radiator 2 is located between the cooling fan 18 and the cooling fan 18.
0 is provided, and the side surface shape of this radiator 20 is formed into a substantially semicircular shape as shown in FIG. In FIG. 2, a pair of approximately semicircular water tanks 28 and 29 for storing cooling water for the engine 14 are provided at both ends of the radiator 20, and a cooling water supply section is provided above the water tank 29. 24 are provided. These water
As shown in FIG. 4, between the tanks 28 and 29, a large number of cooling tubes 30 formed by collapsing into a substantially flat plate are sequentially arranged in the vertical direction in the figure along the water tanks 28 and 29. The interiors of the water tanks 28 and 29 are communicated with each other via a water channel 30a formed in a cooling tube 30, so that the cooling tube 30 passes cooling water. Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 5, bent corrugated fins 34 for dissipating heat are interposed between each of the many cooling tubes 30. In this way, water tank 2
As shown in FIG. is on the right side of the figure (first
From the back side 32a of the engine 14 side in the figure) to the front side 32a on the left side (radiator grill 16 side in Figure 1)
A number of hollow conduits 32 are defined, each penetrating up to 2b. And water tank 2
Since the cooling tubes 8 and 29 are formed convexly on the front surface 32b side and approximately semicircular as described above, the cooling tubes 3 disposed along the water tanks 28 and 29
The width of 0 changes approximately continuously, the front end on the front surface 32b side is arranged in a convex approximately semicircle, and the width on the rear surface 32a
The rear end portions of the sides are arranged substantially straight. Accordingly, the hollow conduit 32 defined between the many cooling tubes 30 is inclined so that the back surface 32 of the hollow conduit 32
The pipe length from a to the front surface 32b (that is, l 1 in formula (1) described later) changes almost continuously so that it is maximum near the center in the direction in which the cooling tube 30 is disposed. It is configured. These many hollow pipes 32 are superimposed to form a sound range control means 40.
As shown in FIG.
After passing, it has an effect of converging to a focal point (point F) located at a predetermined direction and a predetermined distance L from the radiator 20 on the front surface 32b side. The position of the focal point F on which the sound waves are focused by the sound range control means 40 is determined by the following relationship.
l=l1+l2 (1)

The sound waves do not pass through the intermediate pipe 32 but are diffracted from around the radiator 20 and are out of phase with the uncontrolled sound waves, and these controlled sound waves and uncontrolled sound waves interfere with each other, resulting in a destructive interference phenomenon. As a result, the area outside this triangular area becomes a sound reduction area, and the noise area is controlled to be focused within the triangular area. Therefore, in FIG. 1, point F is set as a focal point at a point in a predetermined direction and a predetermined distance in front of the vehicle from the radiator grille 16, and by shifting this point F from the height of the ears of people outside the vehicle, people can The perceived noise can be reduced.

The length of the hollow pipe is changed by changing the width of the cooling tube, but it is also possible to make the width of the cooling tubes the same and insert pipes of different lengths between them. A similar effect can be obtained by attaching a separate member to the widthwise end of the tube to change the length of the pipe. Further, the hollow pipe can be provided horizontally or vertically with respect to the sound source as long as the distance relationship of the focal point F described above is satisfied.

できる。(Effect of the invention) As explained above, according to the vehicle radiator according to the invention, the hollow pipes defined between the cooling tubes are overlapped to form the sound range control means, and the sound range control means By concentrating sound waves propagated from the rear side on the front side, it is possible to reduce engine noise that is felt by human ears and reduce noise pollution. Furthermore, since it is only necessary to change the structure of the radiator itself, it is possible to prevent an increase in cost and space due to an increase in parts.
