Purpose of the Invention (1) Industrial Field of Application The present invention is provided across both side edges of a windshield and between the left and right front pillars, and is designed to prevent rainwater, etc., from flowing laterally on the windshield surface. This relates to a drip molding that stops the flow of water and prevents it from flowing onto the door glass.

Preferably before or after. However, if the protrusion extends above the windshield, a relatively large step will be created at the connection between the windshield and the roof, which will cause problems such as increased wind noise and increased running resistance when the vehicle is running. arise.

特徴とする。B. Structure of the Invention (1) Means for Solving the Problems In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides a method for preventing water such as rainwater flowing laterally on the windshield from flowing toward the door glass side. The drip molding is disposed astride the front pillar and both side edges of the windshield, and the drip molding includes a first projecting portion extending at intervals above the both side edges of the windshield, and the second touching the edge
A water catching groove having a U-shaped cross section and opening toward the windshield is formed between the first and second projecting parts, and a water catching groove having a U-shaped cross section is formed between the first and second projecting parts. The distance between the first and second projecting portions is gradually narrowed toward the roof so that the first and second projecting portions are smoothly connected substantially flush with the front edge of the upper surface of the roof.

る。 A plurality of T studs 7 are fixed to the other side surface 22 of each front pillar 2 facing the side edge of the windshield 1, and synthetic resin clips 8 are fixed by these T studs 7. A drip molding M extending between the upper surface of the side edge of the windshield 1 and the front pillar 2 is attached to the clip 8. The molding body forming the skeleton of the drip molding M includes a first molding 11 and a second molding 12, which are formed into a constant cross section by a roll-formed metal plate.
Therefore, the first molding 11 is the front pillar 2
A first projecting portion 11 1 that extends vertically along the front pillar 2 and projects upwardly of the windshield 1 so as to be substantially flush with the outer surface of the front pillar 2 ; The second molding 12 has a leg portion 112 that hangs down at a substantially right angle from the second molding 12.
is a second projecting portion 12 1 that is approximately parallel to the first projecting portion 11 1 and whose free end extends above the windshield 1 .
and a mounting portion 12 2 bent from there so as to overlap with the leg portion 11 2 . The leg portion 11 2
and the mounting portion 12 2 are integrally joined by welding.
A hook portion 11 3 is formed on the inner edge of the first projecting portion 11 1 of the first molding 11, and this hook portion 11 3 is engaged with the receiving portion 8 1 of the clip 8. The lower ends of the leg portion 11 2 and the attachment portion 12 2 of the second molding 12 are fitted into the clip 8 and held therein.
Decorative layers 13 and 14 made of synthetic resin layers such as vinyl chloride are integrally laminated on the outer surfaces of the first overhanging portion 11 1 of the first molding 11 and the second overhanging portion 12 1 of the second molding 12, respectively. The free end of the decorative layer 14 is in contact with the windshield 1.

It is smoothly connected almost flush with the top surface of. The water catching groove 15 gradually becomes narrower toward the roof 16, so that almost no groove is formed in the vicinity of the roof 16.

It is caught by the groove 15 and does not flow from the windshield 1 to the door glass 5, and does not stain the door glass 5 or the wind mirror. Further, the height of the water catching groove 15 gradually decreases toward the roof 16 and almost disappears at the boundary with the roof 16, so that the upper surface of the drip molding M, that is, the upper surface of the first overhang 111 Not only can the front edge of the upper surface of the roof 16 be connected smoothly without any difference in level, but also the difference in level between the windshield 1 and the roof 16 can be made as small as possible, thereby reducing wind noise caused by the difference in level. Increase in running resistance is avoided.

Even if the groove width of the groove 15 is configured to be gradually narrowed toward the roof as described above, there is no risk that a large amount of water will overflow from the portion of the groove 15 close to the roof 16 toward the windshield 1 side.

である。C. Effects of the Invention As described above, according to the present invention, the drip molding, which is disposed astride the front pillar and both side edges of the windshield, has a first drip molding that extends over both side edges of the windshield at intervals. and a second protruding part that contacts both side edges of the windshield, and between the first and second protruding parts there is a catch having a U-shaped cross section that opens toward the windshield. Since water grooves are formed, water such as rainwater flowing horizontally on the windshield is effectively captured by the water trapping groove of the drip molding that opens toward the windshield, and there is no risk of it flowing toward the door glass side. Therefore, it is effective in preventing the water from adhering to door glass and door mirrors.

ことができる。 Further, the distance between the first and second projecting portions is gradually narrowed toward the roof so that the upper surface of the first projecting portion is smoothly connected substantially flush with the front edge of the top surface of the roof. 1. The upper surface of the overhang and the front edge of the roof top surface can be connected smoothly without any steps, and the steps between the windshield and the roof can also be minimized, thereby reducing wind noise caused by those steps. It is possible to avoid the occurrence of problems and an increase in running resistance.
