[Background of the Invention] Horizontal blinds generally include a plurality of slats spaced apart vertically by ladder-like support cords near each end of the slats and, if necessary, at one or more locations in between. The slats are supported horizontally by the ladder-like support cord, and by moving the vertical cord portions at the front and rear of the ladder-like support cord relatively up and down, the slats can be tilted to adjust the light shielding. A lifting cord is passed vertically through the insertion hole, its lower end is fixed to a lower plate placed at the lower end of the row of slats, and the lifting cord is wound upward or lowered to raise or lower the slats. It is configured to open and close the blinds.

As mentioned above, the above-mentioned elevating cord has the function of controlling the elevating and lowering of the slats, and because it extends vertically through the elevating cord insertion hole provided at the same position on each slat, it also controls the horizontal movement of each slat. It also plays the role of regulating the slats and aligning a large number of slats in the vertical direction.

However, in the structure of the conventional horizontal blind as described above, when the slats are tilted to a vertical position, outside light leaks into the room through the elevating cord insertion hole, impairing the light-shielding function of the blind.
Furthermore, it is not desirable in terms of the appearance of the blind that a large number of elevating cord insertion holes are visible over the entire surface of the blind when the blind is closed.
In addition, in the conventional structure where the lifting cord passes through the lifting cord insertion hole provided in each slat, when the slat is tilted, the edge of the lifting cord insertion hole of each slat hits the lifting cord. There is also the problem that the tilting action of the slat is limited and therefore the slat cannot be tilted to a completely vertical position. In the horizontal blind of the above type, the lifting cord insertion hole that was conventionally provided in the center of the slats has been eliminated to prevent outside light from leaking when the slats are tilted, and to prevent external light from leaking into the slats. In order to form a horizontal blind that is excellent in terms of performance, and in which the slats can be tilted to a completely vertical position, the applicant of the present invention has proposed that the slats should be supported by ladder-like support cords near both side edges. A small hole is formed through which the middle cord of the ladder-like support cord can be inserted freely, and a width approximately equal to or slightly narrower than the diameter of the middle cord extends from each small hole to the corresponding side edge. We have proposed a blind in which a guide slot is formed that opens at the edge, and a guide ring is provided on the ladder-shaped support cord to guide the lifting cord.
(Utility Application No. 61-18938) [Problem to be solved by the invention] As mentioned above, small holes are provided on both sides of the slat through which the middle cord of the ladder-like support cord can be inserted, and the slat is inserted through these small holes. A blind with a structure in which a guide slot leading to the side edge is formed and the lifting cord is placed outside the side edge of the slat allows the slat to be easily attached to and detached from the ladder-shaped support cord, and is particularly useful for blinds. In the assembled state, it is easy to attach and detach only the desired slats, and since there is no large elevating cord insertion hole in the center of the slats unlike conventional slats, there is no light leakage when the blind is closed. Excellent in appearance,
Although it has many advantages, such as the ability to tilt the slats to a fully vertical position, it has been found that there are significant drawbacks. If a small hole through which a ladder-shaped support cord is inserted and a cord guide slot leading to the hole are provided near both side edges of the slat, the effective width of the slat will be larger than that of the slat at the position where the small hole and slot are provided. This is because the width of the slat is narrower than the width of the slat, and therefore the bending strength and rigidity of the slat in the longitudinal direction are lower in this part than in other parts.

Generally, in horizontal blinds, if the slats are suddenly stopped midway through their descent, the portions of the slats that are not supported by the middle cords of the ladder-like support cords, that is, the longitudinal ends of the slats and the support cords, will be damaged. The slats generally tend to bend in a wavy manner as the sections between the support cords move downward due to inertia. In particular, since there is no support cord at the end of the slat in its longitudinal direction, there is a tendency for the slat to bend at the middle cord of the support cord that supports the weight of the slat. However, as mentioned above, in the above-mentioned blinds in which the slats are provided with small insertion holes and guide slots through which the middle cord of the support cord is inserted, the bending strength and rigidity of these parts are reduced, so the slats are When the slat suddenly stops descending, both ends of the slat bend sharply, and if this operation is repeated, the part of the slat where the small holes and slots are formed will become locally fatigued, causing the small holes to bend. Cracks develop inward from the slat, and the slat eventually breaks at this point.

The present invention solves the above-mentioned drawbacks in a slat for blinds in which the slat main body has no holes by providing small holes on both side edges of the slat through which the middle cord of the ladder-like support cord is inserted and slots for guiding the middle cord. It is an object of the present invention to provide a slat for a blind which prevents the slat from cracking and breaking at the portion where the small holes and guide slots are provided.

In order to prevent cracks from running inward from 0 and causing the slat to break at 0, the slat according to the present invention has a small hole located near the center of the slat from the above-mentioned small hole. If such a stepped portion 12 is formed, even if the slat is repeatedly raised and lowered as described above and suddenly stopped in the middle of descent, the force will be concentrated at the line connecting the small holes 10. Since the slat does not bend significantly in this part, and the slat bends in a curved manner, local fatigue in this part is prevented. Also,
In the conventional type, as mentioned above, as the slat is repeatedly moved up and down, cracks 13 are generated from the small holes 10 toward the inside of the slat, as shown in FIG. 5, and this causes the slat to break. In the slat of the present invention shown in Figs. 1-4, as shown in Fig. 6,
It has been experimentally confirmed that even if a crack 13 occurs, it will propagate along the stepped portion 12 as shown by 13a, and breakage of the slat can be avoided.

The above embodiment shows a configuration in which the slat 3 is convex toward the upper surface, that is, the stepped portion 12 protrudes from the curved side of the slat, which is slightly curved upward in an arc shape when viewed in cross section. It has been confirmed that this can achieve the great effect described above, but it has also been experimentally confirmed that almost the same effect can be achieved even if the stepped portion is made to protrude to the opposite side. Furthermore, the above-mentioned stiffening step does not necessarily have to be arcuate, and may be linear to achieve the purpose of stiffening and reinforcing the slat. Such an embodiment is shown in Figures 11-12. In the figure, reference numeral 12 indicates a straight reinforcing step portion which is convex on the lower side of the slat 3.

Since the slat of the present invention has the above-described structure, a stepped portion is provided inward from the position where the small hole and the guide groove hole are provided, and this portion is stiffened and reinforced, so that when the slat is lowered, the slat Even if you suddenly stop the slats, the slats do not bend at an acute angle using the middle cord as a fulcrum, but bend in a gentle curve over the length of the step, thus preventing fatigue from concentrating on the narrow part of the slats. can. Also,
Even if a crack occurs inward from the small hole for inserting the middle cord, the crack will stop at the step, and instead of moving straight ahead, it will change direction and grow along the step. As a result, the slats can be prevented from being cut and the slats can be made durable.
